Vatican Lifts Ban On Ordination Of Married Priests - For Eastern Catholics In Diaspora

The Vatican has lifted its ban on the ordination of married men to the
priesthood in Eastern Catholic churches outside their traditional
territories, including in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Pope Francis approved lifting the ban, also doing away with the
provision that, in exceptional cases, Eastern Catholic bishops in the
diaspora could receive Vatican approval to ordain married men. In
recent years, however, some Eastern Catholic bishops went ahead with
such ordinations discreetly without Vatican approval.

Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, prefect of the Congregation for the Eastern
Churches, signed the decree June 14. It was published later online in
the ActaApostolicaeSedis, the official periodical through which
Vatican laws and decisions are published.

The new law says the pope concedes to Eastern Catholic bishops outside
their traditional territory the faculties to "allow pastoral service
of Eastern married clergy" and "to ordain Eastern married candidates"
in their eparchies or dioceses, although they must inform the local
Latin-rite bishop in writing "in order to have his opinion and any
relevant information."

"We are overjoyed with the lifting of the ban," Melkite Bishop
Nicholas Samra of Newton, Mass., told Catholic News Service in a Nov.
15 email..

The Vatican decree explained that in response to the "protests" of the
Latin-rite bishops in the United States, in 1890 the Congregation for
the Evangelization of Peoples prohibited married Ruthenian priests
from living in the United States. And in 1929-30, the Congregation for
Eastern Churches extended the ban to all Eastern-rite priests
throughout North America, South America and Australia.

The 1929 prohibition, known as Cum data fuerit, had significant
repercussions for the Eastern Catholic churches in the United States.
Sandri's decree noted that soon after the law was promulgated, "an
estimated 200,000 Ruthenian faithful became Orthodox."

Ruthenian Bishop John Kudrick of Parma, Ohio, said Nov. 16 that he
sees the end to impose celibacy for Eastern priests in the diaspora as
an acknowledgement of the Eastern churches' "obligation to maintain
their integrity" and "of the right of the various churches to equal
responsibility of evangelization throughout the world."

For One Night On Stage, Embattled Cosby His Old Self

The protesters didn't show, the would-be hecklers didn't take the
bait, the weeks of headlines about sexual assaults disappeared and
Bill Cosby, for 90 minutes at least, regained the revered status he
long enjoyed.

The show Friday night in Melbourne, Florida, might have seemed
destined for disaster for the comedian, enveloped in growing
accusations of rape and sexual assault that have derailed his career
comeback and crumbled his tour schedule. What he got, though, was an
adoring audience that laughed so hard they slapped their knees,
shouted love at the stage and rose to their feet as he came and went.

"I think people went in there with him as Bill Cosby from the TV
show," said Travis Weberling, 40, of Melbourne, "not the guy they
heard about on the news."

The 2,000-seat theater beefed up security and announcements before
Cosby took the stage warned a disturbance was possible -- radio hosts
had even offered cash and prizes to anyone who made it happen.
Reporters swarmed the venue. But, in the end, just one protester stood
outside, holding a sign that read, "Rape is no joke."

What remained to be seen was whether the evening marked a turning
point for a beloved television father, or simply a momentary reprieve.
It did nothing to immediately change the fact that Cosby's projects
have been nixed and stalled, performances have been canceled across
the country and women continue to come forward accusing him of serious
crimes.

Cosby has never been charged in connection with any of the allegations.

"I know people are tired of me not saying anything, but a guy doesn't
have to answer to innuendos," Cosby told the Florida Today newspaper
before the show. "People should fact check."

Cosby's lawyer, Martin Singer, said the accusations had "escalated far
past the point of absurdity," dismissing them as "fantastical,"
"unsubstantiated" and "uncorroborated."

"When will it end?" he asked. "It is long past time for this media
vilification of Mr. Cosby to stop."

And, throughout the audience, his fans agreed.

They talked of watching him on TV as a child, and of his albums
becoming familiar friends when the moved to unfamiliar, faraway towns.
They brushed off the accusations, howling at everything he uttered.

When he took the stage at the Maxwell C. King Center For The
Performing Arts, they stood and hollered, and he returned a thumbs-up.
Only a smattering of empty seats were seen. Cosby wore cargo pants and
a shirt that said "Hello Friend" and never once ventured in the realm
of controversy. His 90-minute set wandered from a childhood fear of
God to the loss of freedom in marriage to the rocket-speed Spanish of
a piñata-store worker.

He sat for much at the start of the show, then grew increasingly
physical, impersonating jujitsu and gymnastics poses, laying on the
floor in stocking feet and thrusting a fist upward in a gesture of
battling the everyday oppression of living with a wife. And when it
was over, he said "good night," walking off as the audience again
stood.

The most impassioned of his fans breathed a sigh of relief. Judith
Stone traveled from Madison, West Virginia, for the show, deeming it
"absolutely fantastic" and grateful no one interrupted.

"I think he will leave with a very positive attitude," she said.

Elsewhere, audiences will not have the chance to see Cosby.
Performances in Oklahoma, Nevada, Illinois, Arizona, South Carolina
and Washington were called off. David Fischer, director of The
Broadway Center in Tacoma, Washington, said an April appearance was
called off because it conflicts with the organization's mission
strengthen the community "building empathy, furthering education and
sharing joy."

Projects on NBC and Netflix have been canceled, and TV Land decided
not to air reruns of "The Cosby Show." Cosby's producers said at least
28 other shows remain on his schedule through May 2015.

Tom Werner, who co-founded the Carsey-Werner Company which produced
"The Cosby Show," defended Cosby in a statement to the Boston Globe.

"The Bill we knew was a brilliant and wonderful collaborator on a show
that changed the landscape of television," Werner and partner Marcy
Carsey said in the statement. "These recent news reports are beyond
our knowledge or comprehension."

And, even in a crowd of Cosby faithful, there was some worry there was
more to come.

"This very well may be Bill Cosby's last show," said Marcus Utt, 25,
of Melbourne.

Your Lungs: A User's Manual

Better workouts, less coughing and wheezing, even a longer life? Yep.
Here's your guide to open airways

Inhale. Exhale. You take 15 to 20 breaths a minute--more than 20,000
breaths a day. With each one, oxygen travels through your bloodstream,
fueling your body's cells. Trouble is, we bombard our lungs with
pollutants and irritants such as secondhand smoke and fumes from
household cleaning supplies. "Still, lungs are resilient," says Ravi
Kalhan, MD, director of the Asthma/COPD Program at Northwestern
University Feinberg School of Medicine. "Keep them healthy and they
will protect you into old age."

While exercise doesn't increase lung capacity per se, "it strengthens
heart muscles so your heart is better able to pump oxygenated blood
through your body," says Doreen Addrizzo-Harris, MD, associate
professor of pulmonology at the NYU Medical Center. "Your lungs then
don't have to work as hard." You'll exercise more efficiently and feel
less winded.

Exercise can also trim belly fat, which is linked to a higher risk of
asthma. "We think the excess fat associated with obesity increases
inflammation in the body, which affects the lungs," says Neil
Schachter, MD, a pulmonologist at the Icahn School of Medicine at
Mount Sinai in New York City. To see results, you need consistent
exercise, raising your heart rate for 20 to 30 minutes most days of
the week, says Jason Turowski, MD, a pulmonologist at the Cleveland
Clinic. If you've got asthma, it might be hard to maintain an intense
workout, but lower-key activities may help reduce airway inflammation.
In one study, asthmatic adults who walked for 20 to 30 minutes three
times a week at a moderate pace reported improvement in their
symptoms. Swimming is another option, especially during the frigid
winter months. The warm, moist air at an indoor pool is
asthma-friendly. (But don't swim in a pool that's strongly
chlorinated; irritation from the fumes can counteract the benefits.)

EAT SMART

"An anti-inflammatory diethelps decrease airway inflammation, which
has been linked to respiratory diseases such as COPD and asthma,"
notes Melissa Young, MD, an integrative medicine specialist at the
Cleveland Clinic. Fill up with these foods:

Fruits and veggies:They're packed with antioxidants, which can help
repair damage from air pollution. It doesn't matter what kind, as long
as you eat plenty of them.

Flaxseeds:They contain high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, which are
believed to be connected to a lower risk of asthma.

White wine:Vino drinkers--especially those who sip white--have healthier
lungs. (Researchers theorize it's due to wine's high antioxidant
capacity.)
Olive oil:It has monounsaturated fatty acids, which can help reduce
inflammation, and alpha-tocopherol, a form of vitamin E associated
with better lung function.

A cup of joe: Caffeinehas a similar effect as the drug therophyllin,
which opens up the airways," Dr. Turowski says.

Tomato sauce:Research suggests that lycopene--the antioxidant famously
found in tomatoes--may protect you against exercise-induced asthma.

CLEAR THE AIR

Air pollution claims more than 3.2 million lives worldwide every year,
according to the 2013 Global Burden of Disease Study. Why? The tiny
particles penetrate the lungs, causing cancer and other respiratory
illnesses. We don't expect you to flee L.A. for Idaho, but there are
precautions that everyone should take.

Check the forecast:You can find the Air Quality Index (AQI) at
airnow.gov. On days that the AQI in your area is high (over 150 if you
have no lung issues, over 100 if you've got a breathing problem),
consider taking your workout indoors. If you do exercise outdoors,
avoid routes near traffic.

Police Acted Professionally To Forestall Mayhem At NASS --Ojukwu

Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu
The Nigeria Police on Friday insisted that it acted professionally to
forestall mayhem on Thursday's commotion at the National Assembly.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, made this
known when he briefed newsmen on police role on Thursday's commotion
at the National Assembly.

Ojukwu maintained that policemen at the National Assembly acted to
maintain law and order, but were rebuffed by some ``hoodlums and
never-do-wells', who tried to beat security check at the gate.

"When we have information that something bad is about to happen, our
job is to stop it from happening and all we did yesterday was to
forestall such an occurrence,'' he said.

The spokesman explained that some hoodlums accompanied some of the
lawmakers and refused to be checked at the gate.

This led to the closure of the gate when the House of Representatives
speaker tried to gain entrance into the National Assembly premises.

He said that the policemen acted professionally, one of the officers
was assaulted in the process leading to the dropping of the teargas
that caused commotion at the complex.

"The policemen on ground acted according to their discretion and to
the best of their ability. I am satisfied with what the policemen did
yesterday.

"Law and order must be respected at all cost and at all times
otherwise the nation will be in turmoil.''

The police said everybody should obey the laws of the land and do
things in line with the law.

He said: "you cannot make a law and be a breaker of the law, it's not
acceptable in normal societies.''

The spokesman said seven arrests were made and that investigation was
ongoing so as to unravel the culprits and prosecute them.

Ojukwu assured that the police would continue to carry out its duties
in line with the laws of the land.

He warned politicians to go about their electioneering campaigns in
line with laid down rules and regulations.

The spokesman had earlier issued a statement explaining the police's
role in the unfortunate incident at the National Assembly on Thursday.

"The Nigeria Police promptly deployed its personnel to the premises to
prevent a breakdown of law and order.

"Consequently, the police cordoned the area and began screening of all
members and visitors alike.

"In the course of this lawful exercise, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, arrived
the venue with a motley crowd, who broke the cordon, assaulted the
police and evaded due process.

"The police had the duty to restore order and normalcy using lawful means."

Tips To On How To Rephrase Your Words So Your Husband Can Actually Hear You

Men often get a bad reputation for not being the best listeners. Women
complain about how their husband tunes them out or doesn't quite get
what they are trying to express. But as communicators, we have to
really be willing to ask ourselves some tough questions if our
messages are not being well received.

Sometimes the problem is not the message or the receiver. Often, the
issue can simply be how the message is delivered. Your tone, your body
language, and even when you decide to deliver particular messages can
make all the difference. Who really wants to come home from work, only
to hear a list of things they either didn't do or they did wrong? I
sure don't. I need some compassion and love in my life after a long
day.

Is it possible that even with the very best delivery, your husband is
still not hearing you? Yes, unfortunately that is very possible. But
before we jump to the conclusion that his listening skills are way
off, I think we can avoid many misunderstandings if we just take a
moment to closely examine what we are doing. If you feel compelled to
point the finger, point it at yourself first. It can help you grow and
can also change the way you communicate with your spouse going
forward.

Here are a few common statements you can rephrase to help create
healthy dialogue with your spouse. Uncross your arms, take that base
out of your voice, and say what you have to say with clarity,
compassion, and love -even if you aren't all that happy. It may not
always work, but it can help move things in a healthier direction.

Is there a reason why you never fold any of the clothes?

Is it okay if we can split folding the clothes or take turns doing it?
It's becoming too much for me to manage on my own and I would love
some help with it.

I need a break. Is it a problem if I go out with my girls this weekend?

It's been a rough week. I wanted to take a bit of time this weekend to
unwind and hang out with the girls for a bit. Did you have anything
planned? Maybe you can do something with the fellas?

Why can't you cook for once?
I know you love it when I cook, but I actually love it when you cook,
too. Do you think we can pick days of the week where we can each make
a meal and then the other days can be leftovers or take out?

So you are working late again, huh?

I appreciate all you do for our family and I know your job is
demanding, but I miss spending time with you and managing things
without you can be hard sometimes. What can we do to make this better?

I'm gonna need you to help out more. I cannot do everything by myself.

I know it seems like I have this juggling act down, but some days it
feels like way too much for me and it's becoming harder and harder to
manage. Can we talk about things we can do differently to make things
more manageable?

In all of these examples, the same sentiment is being expressed but in
a much calmer, sweeter tone. There is some definite truth to the old
adage; "You can catch more bees with honey than with vinegar." I am
not suggesting that you ignore your true feelings or neglect your
needs. I'm simply suggesting that you open up the discussion with a
different frame of mind. It's always easier to get someone to engage
if they feel like they are about to enter a peaceful conversation
rather than a fight.

For Men - 9 Things You Do Every Day That Lowers Your Sperm Count

Put down the Bacon! And the iPhone! And all the other things he loves
that harm his fertility.
Remember when we all thought Mountain Dew affected a guy's sperm
count? Luckily, those days are gone ... and we're hoping no one actually
used the soda as a form of birth control. But, there still are some
very ordinary things that do influence a man's fertility.

From the unhealthy habits, such as drinking, to the stranger ones,
like putting on sunscreen, we're counting down the things he loves
doing that are decreasing his sperm production.

1. Wearing Sunscreen

Lathering up before a day in the sun may actually be protecting him
against skin cancer but it's also potentially impairing his fertility.
A brand new study from Longitudinal Investigation of Fertility and the
Environment (LIFE) found that chemicals commonly found in sunscreen
can impair male fertility by 30 percent.

When the skin absorbs chemicals which filter out UV rays, like BP-2 or
3OH-BP, it can interfere with his hormones. Researchers say men
concerned about fertility should wash off sunscreen when they head
indoors.

2. Eating Processed Meat

Trying to conceive? He may want to re-think those BLTs he's been
scarfing down every day. A new study found that processed meat, like
sausage or bacon, can significantly harm sperm quality.

I know, I know, he's probably thinking, take my eyes but not the
bacon, but the Harvard University researchers found that men who ate
half a portion of processed meat a day had 5.5 percent 'normal' shaped
sperm cells, compared to 7.2 percent who ate less. Instead, they found
that fish are possibly the secret to better sperm. Bacon, egg and
halibut sandwich, anyone?

3. Watching TV

Another reason he should hand over that remote? The couch isn't doing
much for his health, as you may have guessed. But, it's not just his
physique and motivation that are at risk as he kicks his feet up on
the sofa and inhales a bag of Doritos.

A study from the British Journal of Sports Medicine confirmed that men
who watch a lot of TV have fewer sperm than men who exercise
moderately or vigorously each week.

Couch potatoes who viewed more than 20 hours of television a week had
44 percent lower sperm count than men who watched almost no
television. Time to get moving, fellas.

4. Drinking

Turns out, the beer belly isn't the only bad side effect from his
favorite beverage. Drinking alcohol can lower testosterone levels,
which in turn leads to decreased sperm quality and production.
Moderation is key with drinking -- and hopefully he stops doing it on
the couch watching TV, too.

5. Not Having s*x

While we just ruled out some of his favorite activities, he will
probably be more apt to help remedy this sperm-zapper.
While some have said "saving sperm" until a woman is most fertile
could help couples who are trying to conceive, it actually has no
benefit and can make matters worse. For guys with low sperm counts,
abstaining from even one day of s*x can decrease their production even
further, according to researchers at Soroka University Medical Centre
in Israel. Abstaining from s*x also causes sperm to change in shape, a
sign that the sperm is going stale.

6. Stressing

Stress is bad for numerous emotional and physical reasons, but his
fertility is at risk too. Whether he's anxious about work or even
having a low sperm count, severe or prolonged stress can interfere
with testosterone production. We know some fun stress-busters for you
and you guy. Wink, wink.

7. Eating Soy

Whoever thought something as delicious (and addictive) as edamame
could be so detrimental to the reproductive system?

A 2008 Harvard School of Public Health study revealed that even half a
serving of soy a day was enough to harm a man's sperm production.
Isoflavones, which are found in soy products actually mimic estrogen.
More tofu for you.

8. Using His Laptop & Cell Phone

As addicted as he is to his two favorite pieces of technology, it
might be best for his sperm count to avoid using them for long periods
of time.

Researchers warn that the heat given off from laptops may increase the
temperature in his scrotum and reduce sperm production.

In 2008, a study revealed a strong association between cell phone use
and sperm count, saying that those who talked for four or more hours
had fewer, weaker sperm.

More recently, researchers discovered that men who carry their phones
in their pocket or on their belt (they still do that?) were more
likely to have fewer, inactive sperm.

Arsene Wenger Apologizes To Arsenal Fans For Team's Loss At Home To Man United

(Photo: DeGea was voted man of the match for his scintillating
performance between the sticks)

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has expressed his sympathy to the
Arsenal fans, after his team failed to beat a poor Manchester United
side on the day, our writer Femi reports.

The home side squandered a host of goal scoring opportunities in the
first half and were made to rue them as Kieran Gibbs own goal and
Rooney's finish was enough to snatch all three points for the visitors
in what was Arsenal's worst start to a League campaign in 32 years.

"There was lots of energy," the manager told Arsenal Player.

"We produced a game of quality and energy and in the end we didn't get
the reward. Manchester United had two shots on target and we lost the
game - that's what it was.

"All the rest was one of the most one-way traffic games I've seen
against United. I feel so sorry for our fans and the energy level the
players put in not to get a win today because it's so disappointing.

"We have to look at ourselves as well because we made a big mistake
for the first goal and we were too impatient after when we were 1-0
down just because we wanted to come back quickly.

"We're not efficient in the zone where the games are won offensively
and defensively. Unfortunately their goalkeeper had a great game as
well."

Arsenal play Dortmund next in the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday.

to do the same to my family. For now, I don't want to get married."

Another Lady Claims Bill Cosby Drugged & Raped Her When She Was 15

A former Bill Cosby co-star has become the latest woman to make sexual
assault allegations against the comedian, claiming he drugged her and
sexually assaulted her when she was a 15-year-old aspiring actress.

Renita Chaney Hill, according to DailyMail, appeared alongside Bill
Cosby in his children's educational show Picture Pages. and she says
the pair had a relationship for four years during the 1980s while he
paid her college tuition.

The 47-year-old from Pittsburgh said she would be flown to different
cities around the country and when they stayed in hotels, he would
insist she had a drink, even though she was still in high school. She
told KDKA she believed that is when he drugged her as she did not
remember anything until she woke up the next morning.

The pair first met when Cosby was in Pittsburgh filming for his
children's educational show Picture Pages. He fronted the educational
program aimed at pre-school children from 1974 until the early 1980s.
He was looking for cast members so Hill's modelling agency put her
forward and she got the job. Renita told KDKA:

'Promises of bright lights and fame. That's where I thought I was
headed, that's what everyone who knew me thought I was headed. He
would fly me to a number of cities. He would be busy during the day,
then I'd come to his hotel room at night.

One time, I remember just before I passed out, I remember him kissing
and touching me and I remember the taste of his cigar on his breath,
and I didn't like it. I remember another time when I woke up in my bed
the next day and he was leaving, he mentioned you should probably lose
a little weight. I thought that odd, how would he know that.'

When she turned 19, she cut off all ties with Cosby, even though he
was paying her way through school. Her parents seemed happy with her
continuing what seemed like a mentoring relationship, but Hill had
enough, and even gave up her dream of becoming an actress. Hill claims
her husband and three daughters are aware of what happened.

She told the station she has no apologies for waiting 30 years to tell
the story and said she decided to come forward when Cosby's lawyers
criticized other alleged victims. Hill added:

'No one wants to be associated with something like this. But the
bottom line for me is that no one has the right to violate someone
else, no matter who they are. I don't care how big they are or how the
community sees them, it's not right.'

On Friday, Angela Leslie, a former model and actress, accused Cosby of
sexually assaulting her in a luxury Las Vegas hotel suite after trying
to ply her with alcohol. She claimed that the TV star forced her to
masturbate him after pouring her a strong drink.

Leslie, now 52, was reportedly invited to meet Cosby at his hotel in
1992 after sending him a letter and photograph. She was hoping to get
career advice from the star after initially meeting the comedian two
years previously on the set of The Cosby Show.

Actress Louisa Moritz came forward on Thursday and accused Cosby of
sexual assault, saying he once forced her into oral sex and implied he
would further her career if she went through with it.

Moritz, 68, said that she was backstage at The Tonight Show Starring
Johnny Carson in 1971 when Cosby stuck his penis in her mouth. The One
Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest actress told TMZ:

'He took his hands and put them on the back of my head and forced his
penis in my mouth, saying, "have a taste of this. It will do you good
in so many ways."'

As the allegations continued to come out, Cosby was in the Bahamas
performing. During the appearance, the 77-year-old put his head in his
hands and pretended to sob, new video obtained by MailOnline has
revealed today. He joked that parents would not let their children
near him, as fans in the audience laughed and applauded the skit.

'Parents are coming and taking their children home, saying to me "Bill
Cosby you are an evil man!",' the entertainer said through faux tears
on stage.

But the entertainer then shook it off, smiled and started what became
a well-scripted 90 minute performance.

A total of nine women have now come forward this month claiming the
famed entertainer abused them. The accusations has also caused Netflix
and NBC to ax projects by the veteran comedian. He pulled out of
scheduled slots with Queen Latifah and David Letterman and, when asked
about the allegations in a November 6 interview with the Associated
Press, said: 'There's no response ... I don't talk about it.'

D'banj Dragged To Court Over Alleged Dud Cheque And Bad Debt

According to reports, a technology company MindHub Technologies claims
D'banj is owing them the sum of $240,000 and another N15,000,000,
which the artiste has not denied but issued them post-dated cheques
which were bounced back.

MindHub Technologies who now speak with D'banj through their lawyers
after all efforts made by them for him to pay proved abortive said
D'banj has only deemed it fit since last year to pay only N8,600,000
out of the N15,000,000 and has not paid a single penny from the
$240,000.

"We act as Solicitors to MINDHUB TECHNOLOGIES LTD (hereinafter called
"OUR CLIENT"), and on whose instruction we write you this letter in
the manner stated hereunder.

It is our brief that sometime in January 2013 in Lagos, you signed a
Personal Guarantee/Memorandum of Undertaking with our client wherein
you agreed/undertook to pay our client the investment fund of
N100,000,000.00k (One Hundred Million Naira Only) given to D KINGS
MEDIA LIMITED by our client, should the latter default in payment of
the debt. The said debt is made up of Nigerian and United States of
America's currencies,"the letter addressed to him stated.

The case is already in a Lagos high court and due for hearing, why it
has been almost impossible for months now to serve D'banj, because he
has been outside the country, while some however claim the major
reason D'banj has been in the US is because he does not want to be
served.
