WHO Nurse Infected With Ebola

A health official with the World Health Organisation has contracted
the Ebola virus while working with infected victims in Sierra Leone.

According to a statement by the global body on Sunday, this is the
first time, a WHO staff has been infected with the viral disease.

The WHO, however, stated that it was not clear on how the worker
contracted the disease but it would be deploying all treatment to
manage the victim.

Meanwhile, a British citizen infected with the virus in Sierra Leone
is being flown home, the British Department of Health on Sunday.

The man, simply identified as William, lives in the West African
nation in a home established by an American university for
researchers.

He was volunteering as a nurse at the Kenema Government Hospital,
Ebola patients patients are being treated according to the Associated
Press.

The deputy chief medical officer, Dr. John Watson in a statement on
Sunday said the UK government has prepared a specially equipped C17
Royal Air Force plane to transport William to an isolation unit at the
Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

Watson said, "UK hospitals have a proven record of dealing with
imported infectious diseases and this patient will be isolated and
will receive the best care possible."
