What We'll Do To PDP Defectors -- Enugu APC

Following the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) colossal defeat at the
2015 general election, there have been reports of an internal crisis
in the camp of the party which has left some of its members seek
greener pastures elsewhere.

In recent times, there has been ex-members of the PDP crossover to the
APC, all thanks to the latter's explosive victory at the polls.

However, the Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress
(APC) on Wednesday said it would not admit any member of Peoples
Democratic Party into its fold, Punch reports.

This was revealed by the Publicity Secretary of the party in Enugu
State, Mrs. Kate Offor, while briefing journalists on the outcome of
the party's State Executive Committee meeting.

According to Mrs. Offor, the decision of the APC was as a result of
rumours that some prominent members of the PDP in the state are
plotting to defect to its party.

She noted that the protuberant members of the PDP plan to hijack key
appointments meant for the state at the national level by capitalizing
on their 'high profile'.

Mrs. Offor warned that the party would not hesitate to sanction any
member found to be involved in unauthorised moves to admit PDP members
into the party. According to her, the PDP chieftains who intend to
join the APC intend to "reap where they did not sow".

She said,"At an enlarged meeting of the State Executive Committee of
Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, we unequivocally
resolved that the membership drive aimed at enlisting Professor Barth
Nnaji, Chief Jim Nwobodo and co into our great party be stopped
forthwith.

"For us it is medicine after death, given the shameful result we
recorded in the presidential and governorship elections, where we got
less than three per cent and 10 per cent of the total votes cast in
Enugu State respectively.

"Accordingly, we are outraged that some elements without authorisation
or due process had already held sinister meetings with Professor Nnaji
in his Umuode village and if not stopped will head to God knows where.

"We hold Professor Nnaji, robotic engineer, and our elder statesman,
Chief Jim Nwobodo, and other eminent sons in very high esteem,
however, we frown seriously at clandestine moves of some people
reaping where they did not sow."

There are speculations that ex-governor of old Anambra State, Chief
Jim Nwobodo, a PDP chieftain in Enugu State and Prof. Barth Nnaji, a
former power minister are planning to move to the APC.

Meanwhile, the PDP crisis at the federal level continues to soar as
the National Chairman, Adamu Mu'azu, has been highly criticised for
failing to deliver at the just concluded 2015 general elections.

Several bigwigs of the party are blaming Mu'azu for the loss and
demanding his resignation, but the national chairman has repeatedly
fired back at his critics that he would not resign despite the
pressure being mounted on him to do so.He however recently called on
the party to remain calm and move forward.
