No Hotel Sells Human Flesh In Anambra -- Police

Anambra State Police Command has dismissed report currently making the
rounds on the social media that a restaurant/hotel has been closed
down by the police in the state for serving cooked fresh human flesh
to unsuspecting customers.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Uche Ezeh in a statement at
the weekend described the report as false and not existing.

There was nothing like that. I advise you ignore the report." The
"report" which quoted the BBC, Swahili said suspicious residents told
police of rumors that the restaurant was cooking human meat for
customers and that Police then raided the restaurant, where they
discovered fresh human heads that were still bleeding. The blood was
in the process of being drained into a plastic bag.

The report also noted that "in addition to the illegal meat,
authorities discovered automatic weapons, grenades, and cell phones.
Ten people were arrested in conjunction with the crimes." But efforts
by local reporters to unravel the source of the story or the location
or name of the so-called restaurant/hotel met brick wall, thereby
giving reasons to doubt the veracity or genuineness of the claims.
Again, when the police was contacted, they denied having any such
report or record.

A source from the state Ministry of Information who pleaded for
anonymity suspected it might be part of the big smear campaign against
the South East zone in the political circle in the country. Another
source from the informed society who would not want to be named said
it was the kind of stories; the western media would want to be hearing
about South East in order to smear their industriousness and
entrepreneurial spirit but said such stories no longer hold water.
