NAFDAC Speaks On Fake Sanitisers And Other Products That Has Flooded The Nigerian Market

It is quite disheartening that some unscrupulous people could think of
making themselves rich at the expense of a ravaging epidemic.

This was the lament of Dr. Paul Orhii the Director-General of the
National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC),
at a press conference on Tuesday.

Dr. Paul speaking on the fake products such as expired hand sanitisers
and fake Ebola testing kits that has suddenly flooded the Nigerian
market, confirmed that "So far, we have quarantined 104 brands that
were illegally imported into the country without certification by
NAFDAC."

He alerted the public on the consequences of being a party to the
distribution and usage of such products, he said "The danger
associated with the use of substandard hand sanitisers and untested
Ebola test kits is indeed grave and could derail all efforts put in
place to contain the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease in the country
and we will prosecute offenders in order to protect and promote public
health."

Orhii also assured the public that the agency will prosecute those who
have been marketing purported claims to a cure for Ebola.
