Cardinal To Be Demoted For Criticizing Pope Francis

A leading American cardinal has told BuzzFeed that he is to be demoted
from his position running the Catholic Church justice system.

Cardinal Raymond Burke is a staunch critic of Pope Francis' moves to
soften the Church's stance on homosexuality.

He said that he was to be moved to the far less senior post of patron
of the sovereign military order of Malta.

Pope Francis is leading a council in the Vatican on possible reforms
to Church teaching on social issues.

A preliminary report on the initial discussions at the extraordinary
Synod on the family was released on Monday.

The report, which was written by more than 200 bishops, said
homosexuals had "gifts and qualities to offer", and used more
welcoming language when discussing homosexuality and its place in the
Church.

Although it does not challenge the Church's stance on gay marriage,
the document was praised by liberal clergymen and activists.

However, it was also criticised by more traditional and conservative
Church figures who rejected it.

Cardinal Burke was among the most publicly critical of the bishops
involved in the discussions.

For weeks, there had been rumours that the Pope would demote him, says
the BBC's James Reynolds in Rome.

Last year, a survey launched by Pope Francis suggested that the
majority of Catholics rejected Church teaching on issues such as sex
and contraception.

Setback For Pope Francis As Synod Fails To Agree On Gays, Divorcees

Roman Catholic bishops on Saturday (Oct 17) failed to reach consensus
on opening the Church's doors to remarried divorcees and gays after a
special synod on the family, in a blow to Pope Francis.

Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said participants had approved a
"re-balanced" final report that took into account the concerns of the
most conservative members.

In a final vote on Saturday after two weeks of heated debate, three
paragraphs touching on the hot-button issues of a more welcome stance
towards gays and divorcees did not receive the two-thirds majority
needed. The vote closed a synod of bishops from around the world which
has seen conservatives clash publicly with liberals over a drive
spearheaded by the Pope to soften the Church's approach to sinners.

Francis, 77, has called for the Church to take a more merciful
approach to unwed mothers, remarried divorcees and gays, famously
saying of homosexuals, "Who am I to judge?"

Ahead of the vote, the cardinals overwhelmingly approved a message to
the world's 1.2 billion Catholics stressing the value of "unique and
indissoluble conjugal love" but without touching directly on
non-traditional unions.

A preliminary report on Monday, widely reported in Italian media, made
waves around the world by suggesting the Church should reach out to
homosexuals, who have "gifts and qualities to offer the Christian
community", outraging traditionalists who had to be reminded by the
Vatican that it was a work in progress. In the media glare, the synod
took on the proportions of a referendum on the Pope's audacious line,
while observers said the early reports may have backfired on
progressives seeking to steal the march on conservatives.

A fresh report Thursday summed up the reactions of 10 working groups
of bishops, which mixed declarations of respect for homosexuals with
fierce insistence that any opening up to sinners would imply the
Church condoned their behaviour.

'SOAP OPERA'

Before the vote, the fallout in the corridors of power, which Boston
Globe Vatican expert John Allen described as "like a daytime soap
opera", already caused at least one head to roll.

Outspoken Cardinal Raymond Burke, currently head of the Vatican's top
canon law court, confirmed to Buzzfeed that he will be removed from
the job to be made patron to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, an
honorary post. He told the US news website: "The Pope is not free to
change the Church's teachings with regard to the immorality of
homosexual acts or the insolubility of marriage or any other doctrine
of the faith."

The vote reflects the attitude of the top echelons of the Church
towards reform - and ultimately towards Francis's rule, which has been
coloured since his election in March 2013 by a determination to show
the more humane side of the centuries-old institution.

POSSIBLE 'REVOLUTION'

German Cardinal Walter Kasper, an ally of the Pope's who has been
pushing for reform, has said he believes the "majority" of those
taking part in the synod are open to change. Kasper suggested in
February that remarried divorcees should be allowed to take communion
under certain conditions.

Drafts of the document met with criticism for placing "too much
emphasis on the problems facing the family".

But the cardinals' message ahead of the vote said "conjugal love,
which is unique and indissoluble, endures despite many difficulties.
It is one of the most beautiful of all miracles and the most common".
It referred to marital infidelity as a "great challenge", adding:
"There are often crises in marriage, often confronted in haste and
without the courage to have patience and reflect, to make sacrifices
and to forgive one another."

Speaking of the family home, it painted an image of "the evening light
behind the windowpanes in the houses of the cities, in modest
residences of suburbs and villages, and even in mere shacks (shining)
from the encounter between spouses."

This synod will be followed by a year of consultations, and a
follow-up questionnaire will be sent out to dioceses around the world.
A second, larger synod will then be held in October 2015. After that,
the results will be handed to the Argentinian Pope, who will have the
final say in outlining the Church's stance on family matters.

Adolfo Nicolas, superior general of the Society of Jesus, or Jesuits -
to which Francis belongs - told the I.Media religious news agency to
watch for a possible "revolution" a year from now.

Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Munich, an ally of the Pope, said there was
no turning back. "There have been two steps forward, there may be one
step backwards, but certainly not two," he told reporters.

Marriage Has Made Me Calm --2face Idibia

2face Idibia opened up to PUNCH on how he handles women who try to get
too familiar .He says marriage has changed him .

"When I meet a female fan who is being unnecessarily familiar with me,
I just greet her and move on with my life. If she is still being
persistent, I would tell her that what she is looking for she cannot
have. Then I introduce her to any of my single friends that is
around,"

"Three of my children are already showing signs of being good singers
without my interference. I would say I am a natural coach. Marriage
has made me calm and helped balance my life. I don't do some certain
things anymore because I am married,"

De Gea Signs New Manchester United Deal

David De Gea has snubbed Real Madrid and has committed his future to
Manchester United after sealing a new five year deal at Old Trafford.

The Spanish under-21 star was a subject of transfer rumors after talks
over a new Manchester United contract stalled and Real Madrid
indicated their interest in the young goalie. Manchester United were
quick to act and have ensured that De Gea signed a new deal as soon as
possible. De Gea will now be earning £120,000 a week which is double
what he was earning on his former deal.

De Gea's new contract would be seen as reward for his very much
improved performances in the last year.

Book Haram Fighters Cut My Neighbours' Throats -- Cameroonian

A police officer speaking to AFP on condition of anonymity said that
before the Canerroonian military confronted them, the Boko Haram
fighters "cut the throats of many civilians, 30 at least".

The manager of a money transfer agency was among the murdered, he
said, and a Catholic church, a Protestant church and several bars were
burnt.

"They wanted to attack the camp" where elite soldiers were garrisoned
"with a booby-trapped car, but the soldiers were one step ahead of
them and destroyed it," the police officer said.

A security guard in Amchide at the time of the attack confirmed the
officer's information.

"The Boko Haram fighters killed many people in town. They cut the
throats of my neighbours. They killed the Express Union manager and
two security guards in his shop. They burned the churches and a
mosque," he said.

"The army told us to leave town, so we did," he added.

The defence ministry made no mention of civilian deaths in its statement.

It said that the heavily armed Boko Haram members were travelling in
armoured vehicles that crossed over from Nigeria.

The fierce fighting started late Wednesday and after a pause resumed
on Thursday, ending with Boko Haram fleeing back over the border,
according to the ministry.

A tank, a pick-up truck and a Peugeot car packed with ammunition and
explosives were destroyed by the soldiers, it added.

"Several light and heavy arms were seized," the ministry said.

"Calm has returned and our defence forces are in control of the border areas".

Cameroon shares a border of more than 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles)
with Nigeria, where Boko Haram has been waging a bloody insurgency
since 2009 in which 10,000 people have died.

Benefits Of Sweet Potatoes

Not only are sweet potatoes readily available, inexpensive, and
delicious, they have many other benefits for your health. Here are
some...

*.They are high in vitamin B6, which helps reduce the chemical
homocysteine in our bodies. Homocysteine has been linked with
degenerative diseases, including heart attacks.

*.They are a good source of vitamin C. While most people know that
vitamin C is important to help ward off cold and flu viruses, few
people are aware that this crucial vitamin plays an important role in
bone and tooth formation, digestion, and blood cell formation. It
helps accelerate wound healing, produces collagen which helps maintain
skin's youthful elasticity, and is essential to helping us cope with
stress. It even appears to help protect our body against toxins that
may be linked to cancer.

*.They contain Vitamin D, which is critical for immune system and
overall health at this time of year. Both a vitamin and a hormone,
vitamin D is primarily made in our bodies as a result of getting
adequate sunlight. Vitamin D plays an important role in our energy
levels, moods, and helps to build healthy bones, heart, nerves, skin,
and teeth, and it supports the thyroid gland.

*.Sweet potatoes contain iron. Most people are aware that we need the
mineral iron to have adequate energy, but iron plays other important
roles in our body, including red and white blood cell production,
resistance to stress, proper immune functioning, and the metabolising
of protein, etc.

*.Sweet potatoes are a good source of magnesium, which is the
relaxation and anti-stress mineral. Magnesium is necessary for healthy
artery, blood, bone, heart, muscle, and nerve function.

*.They are a source of potassium, one of the important electrolytes
that help regulate heartbeat and nerve signals. Like the other
electrolytes, potassium performs many essential functions, some of
which include relaxing muscle contractions, reducing swelling, and
protecting and controlling the activity of the kidneys.

*.Sweet potatoes are naturally sweet-tasting but their natural sugars
are slowly released into the bloodstream, helping to ensure a balanced
and regular source of energy, without the blood sugar spikes linked to
fatigue and weight gain.

Mutiny: Army Authorities Place Soldiers On Half Salary

Indications have emerged that the 97 soldiers including four (4)
Lieutenant Colonels, a Major and four (4) Army Captains who are
currently facing trial at a General Court Martial at the AHQ Garrison
headquarters at the Mogadishu Cantonment, have been placed on half
salaries.

It was gathered that the decision of the Army High Command to put the
soldiers on half salary which is in tandem with the terms and
conditions (TACOS) of military statutes, will be in place until the
trial of the soldiers whose tenure is unknown, ends.

Asked to comment on the development, a senior officer said it was not
a punitive action noting that whenever the trial ends and decisions
taken, those who are freed will revert to collecting their full
salaries.

Already, 59 of the soldiers were arraigned on Wednesday specifically
for Mutiny and Conspiracy to Mutiny having allegedly refused orders by
the Commanding officer of the 111 Special Forces Battalion, to advance
in an operation to recapture Delwa in Borno State from Boko Haram
terrorists.

Recall that the soldiers who are divided into two groups, are facing
several charges related to Mutiny, Conspiracy to Mutiny, Assault;
Absence without leave (AWOL); House breaking, Conduct prejudicial to
good orders, and Service discipline as well as offences relating to
Service property among others.

What The Bible Says About Tattoos And Cutting Of Bodies

The Bible warns against tattoos in Leviticus 19:28 (Amplified) which
says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor
print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord."

However, just because society approves of something does not make it
right in the eyes of God. The Bible warns Christians who are
considering getting one and tries to help overcome the consequences of
those mistakes.

Having a tattoo will not keep anyone from serving God. Some godly
people have tattoos and are serving God and their tattoos do not
interfere with what God is doing through them. Anything Satan tries to
use for evil, God can turn and use it for good

There are many dedicated and sincere Christians that have tattoos.
This is not meant to say they do not love the Lord. God not only can
use them, but does use them. Tattooing, according to the Bible has
witchcraft "Roots"

In addition to the above verse, Scripture also warns Christians not to
disfigure their bodies in following verses: "And they cried aloud, and
cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the
blood gushed out upon them". 1 Kings 18:28

"Ye are the sons of the LORD your God; you shall not cut yourselves,
nor make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead". Deuteronomy
14:1Some people object to using Old Testament scripture as a reference
to tattoos since the New Testament doesn't speak of these things.
However, in the New Testament, Christians are even called to a higher
law. In the New Testament, Christians are told to glorify God in their
bodies.

This would include not marring their bodies with tattoos, as the
principles in the Bible clearly state it is wrong to defile the
bodies. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy
Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body,
and in your spirit, which are God's." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

What the Koran says about tattoos and cutting of bodies

Koran education is important for every Muslim irrespective of gender.
Tattoos are a growing trend in the world and most of the people
question if tattoos have an acceptance in Islam or not? As far as the
matter of tattoos is concerned, tattoos are built on body through
extremely hurting the body and it is forbidden in Islam to hurt your
body.

According to Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Uthaymeen, tattooing which involves
piercing with needle and which involves colours of dye are considered
Haraam. It might not cause you pain or little pain, but it means
changing the creation of Allah .

In al-Saheehayn it is narrated that 'Abd-Allaah ibn Mas'ood said: "May
Allah curse the women who do tattoos and those for whom tattoos are
done, those who pluck their eyebrows and those who file their teeth
for the purpose of beautification and alter the creation of Allah."
(al-Bukhaari, al-Libaas, 5587; Muslim, al-Libaas, 5538).

From the above narration, it is clear that Allah has cursed the women
or man who adopts such things in their lives. Many scholars argue that
this is one of the forms of deception and that makes it forbidden in
Islam. Another school of thought argues that it is forbidden. . No
matter what reason is behind it, Muslims also forbid it.

Presidency Confirms Ceasefire Deal With Boko Haram

Hope rose Friday on the possibility of the release of the over 200
girls, who were seized from a school in Chibok, Borno State last April
following a ceasefire agreement reached between the Federal Government
of Nigeria and the Boko Haram sect in Sadudi Arabia.

The deal was confirmed by the Senior Special Assistant to the
President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe on Friday.

Okupe pointed out that a ceasefire deal had indeed been agreed by the
two parties but did not say when the girls would be released to their
agonising parents, who have been looking forward to reuniting with
them since April 14 this year.

Okupe, who said the deal, was for a unilateral ceasefire by the
Nigerian military and the Boko Haram insurgents, pointed out that the
issues agreed upon would go through a process.

But he made it clear that in response to the agreement, the Nigerian
army had stopped fighting the insurgents just as the sect had agreed
to lay down their arms.

"There are some concessions that the Federal has agreed with the sect
but I am not going to mention them. But we want cessation of
insurgency and the safe return of the Chibok girls. We are on the path
of achieving these," Okupe said.

Asked why it took so long for the Federal Government to dialogue with
the sect, the presidential aide pointed out that peace deal in any
part of the world takes time and that Nigeria could not have been
different.

Cameroonian Troops Kill 107 Boko Haram Insurgents

Cameroonian authorities have said that its forces killed 107 members
of the Boko Haram militant sect in clashes in its north, an area that
has seen regular cross-border raids by the sect.

The news of the fighting coincided with the announcement that the
Federal Government and the sect had agreed to a ceasefire,
www.firstpost.com reported.

It was learnt that the clashes between the troops and the sect in
Cameroon's Northern region began after the militants crossed the
border between the towns of Amchide and Limani on Wednesday and
continued on Thursday, the Cameroonian Defence Minister, Edgar Ngo'o
said in a statement.

It was also reported that eight Cameroonian soldiers were killed and
seven wounded in the fighting, adding that a Boko Haram vehicle packed
with ammunition and explosives was destroyed and that the Cameroonian
troops now controlled the area.

The sect had stepped up cross-border attacks into Cameroon, including
the seizure of 27 hostages in recent times.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian government through the Chief of Defence Staff,
Alex badeh, had said on Friday that Boko Haram had agreed to free more
than 200 schoolgirls it abducted in April.

Failed Contract: Imo Commissioner Opens Up, Accuses PDP of Bribing Rain Makers

As Imolites who have continued to cry and complain about the poor
condition of major roads, moved to ascertain the level of projects in
the state.

A visit to Mbaise and sister communities showed that bad roads have
paralyzed movement of people and equally created health hazard and
security risks for citizens especially those living in communities
like Eke Nguru, Nkwogwu, Oboama, Ezinihite, Ogbe Ahiara, Ehime Mbano
and other notable areas. From all indications, the roads in Aboh
Mbaise appeared to be the most dangerous.

It was discovered that the roads projects are unusable because of the
attitude of the road committee members and contractors. Initially, the
person in charge of Aboh Mbaise could not sign Bank Guarantee (BG) to
contractors handling road work in the area so that the can easily
collect their money.

Confirming this story, the Commissioner for Housing and Rural
Development, Barr. Iheukwumere Alaribe accused Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Pat
Ekeji, the member representing Aboh Mbaise in the state House of
Assembly for not signing the Bank Guarantee to the contractors and as
a result most of the roads were abandoned till date. The commissioner
condemned in strong term the actions of Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Ekeji on the
rural road contract in the area. Said he "She planned to make sure
that APC failed in the rural road programme in Aboh Mbaise". Alaribe
whois from the area raised eye brows on the issue by explaining that
Ngozi Ekeji used her power to allegedly turn things up side down and
made sure that only contractors that handled the road project in her
own community received their money. Commissioner Alaribe therefore
hinted that over N300m was returned back to the Governor since the
House member was unable to sign for some contractors so that banks can
release their money to them.

He further explained that the governor has decided to use direct
labour for the road job and a committee which he is part of it has
been inaugurated. "While the road construction work is being
fastracted in Aboh Mbaise PDP people who do not want it to be a
success went and hired rain makers to invoke rain fall to disrupt
construction work and this made contractors to run away for some
weeks". He hinted that not up to 5km road was fully completed in Aboh
Mbaise accusing Ekeji of having about N3.5 klm of the 5km in her
community. Other factors he complained of was the asphalting.
According to him, Chief Mercelinus Nlemigbo who is in-charge of the
asphalting of some roads in the area did not do a good job and this
affected the work of the contractors and consequently the roads are
now death trap. In her reaction, Hon. Ngozi Path Ekeji stated that she
will never sign for some one that she cannot identify. According to
her, the contractors are not well known to her to endorse for payment.

Hon. Alaribe who said he is a member of the new committee on road
contract job in Mbaise also hinted that the whole money was paid into
the account of one of them and it will be done through direct labour.
He said the money should be released according to demand but the
chairman of the committee, Dr. Ifeanyi Nwchukwu is making things
difficult coupled with the fact that the asphalt that are being
supplied are not up to standard. Alaribe said he rejected all the
asphalts expressing that Nlemigbo should go back and reasphalt the
ones he did not do well in the past.

Alaribe expressed disappointment with the handling of road contracts
in Mbaise as he ordered all the contractors to stop work until he gets
further clarification. He hinted that he wants to draw the attention
of Governor Rochas Okorocha to the road contract work before the job
will continue. The former Commissioner for Special Duties. Prince
Charles Onuoha while speaking to journalists in Owerri declared that
Mbaise communities are in distress.

He said that Okorocha's government has questions to answer on issues
of road contracts in Mbaise and other communities of the state.

According to him, the Governor has not been fair to Mbaise people
"Rochas is cheating Mbaise people". He however advised Mbaise people
not to worry much because the change is on the way adding that every
body should join hands and vote Rochas Okorocha and his so call rescue
mission group out of power in 2015.

Appeal Court Adjourns Okorocha Vs LGA Officers Case Till Feb 2015

The hope of the embattled local government elected officers of the 27
councils of Imo State to know their faith on the lingering court case
over their alleged unconstitutional dissolution by the state governor
Rochas Okorocha, was on Tuesday dimmed by the inability of the
Government Counsel to file their defence.

Adjourning the matter, the Court of Appeal, averred that it is logical
and justified to give the defence counsel the benefit of doubt for the
filing of their defence. The court however, adjourned the matter to
the 25th February 2015.

It will be recalled that sometime in 2012, the same Appeal Court in a
difference suit declared the action of Gov. Rochas Okorocha led
administration illegal and unconstitutional, therefore null and void.

The court also ordered for immediate re-instatement of the council
executive officers and abstained the state executive from further
interference on the activities of the executive officers.

Ironically, Gov Okorocha disregarded the court ruling and orders and
went ahead to deny them access to their constitutional
responsibilities by denying them funding, and interfered by appointing
Transition Committees for the councils.

Blood Group Linked To Memory Loss

There may be a link between a rare blood type and memory loss in later
life, American research suggests.

People with AB blood, found in four per cent of the population, appear
more likely to develop thinking and memory problems than those with
other blood groups.

The study, published in Neurology, builds on previous research showing
blood type may influence heart risk.

A charity said the best way to keep the brain healthy was a balanced
diet, regular exercise and not smoking.

A US team led by Dr Mary Cushman, of the University of Vermont College
of Medicine, Burlington, analysed data from about 30,000 US citizens
aged 45 and above.

Current evidence suggests the best ways to keep the brain healthy are
a balanced diet, not smoking and regular exercise"

It identified 495 participants who had developed thinking and memory
problems, or cognitive impairment, during the three-year study.

They were compared to 587 people with no cognitive problems.

People with AB blood type made up six per cent of the group who
developed cognitive impairment, which is higher than the four per cent
found in the general population.

They were 82per cent more likely to have difficulties with day-to-day
memory, language and attention, which can signal the onset of
dementia.

Ekiti Workers Suspend Strike For Fayose

Workers in Ekiti State on Thursday suspended the two weeks industrial
strike declared to press home the payment of their outstanding two
months salaries and allowances.

The State Joint Negotiating Council Chairman, Comrade Oladipupo
Johnson, broke the news to our correspondent in Ado-Ekiti.

He said the workers agreed to suspend the strike in order to honour
the new Governor, Ayodele Fayose, after a meeting with the Head of
Service, Mr. Bunmi Famosaya.

He said, "We met at the Labour House and agreed to suspend the strike
in order to allow the new government settle down. This is to allow him
to settle down in office to find solutions to pending issues with
workers.

"That is the position as at now. We have directed all the striking
unions under the JNC to ask their members to resume on Friday. We want
to allow him to put an end to all the bad policies where salaries of
workers will be paid and the government will be withholding
deductions, and other related issues.

"We expect all workers in the public service to resume tomorrow (Friday)."

Johnson said the council had earlier met with government officials on
Wednesday where it refused to suspend the strike pending the
inauguration of Fayose.

While declaring the strike on October 2, Johnson had said, "It is
unfortunate to note that in spite of the pronouncement and promises
from top government functionaries, there seem to be no light at the
end of the tunnel . Sequel to the following, the workers of the public
service had met and directed that no worker should come to work today,
October 2, 2014 and this subsists until all conditions are met.

"And any worker who refuses to obey this simple directive dos so at
his or her own risk since the leaders would not take responsibility
for anything that happens."

Johnson, who said the council had been in dialogue with the Governor
in the last three months to resolving the issue, expressed surprise
that the workers were not paid even after government received two
allocations.

Student Jailed 8 Months For Facilitating Exam Malpractices

An Ikeja High Court on Thursday sentenced a 20-year-old student,
Abiodun Raheem, to eight months imprisonment for creating a Website to
facilitate examination malpractices.

Justice Kudirat Jose handed the sentence to Raheem after he pleaded
guilty to the offence during his re-arraignment.

The convict had entered a plea bargain agreement with the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The judge convicted him of the three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud
and examination malpractices preferred against him.

Jose consequently sentenced him to eight months imprisonment on each
of the count.

She said that the sentences would run concurrently beginning from
April 1 when Raheem was arrested and detained for the offences.

EFCC counsel, Mr Mohammed Bashir, had earlier told the court that
Raheem conspired to commit the offences on Jan. 27 in Lagos.

Bashir said the convict created a Website soliciting for potential
candidates sitting for the May/June West African Examination Council
Senior School Certificate Examination.

He said the Website offered solutions and answers to questions at a
fee of N4, 000 to subscribers and it also contained the account
details of the convict.

Chaos In Onitsha As Police Set Suspected MASSOB Hide-Out Ablaze

Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra State was yesterday thrown
into confusion after the Police in the state set ablaze a building at
Okpoko Layout, which the operatives described as a hide-out for
members of the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of
Biafra, MASSOB.

But the owner of the house, Mr. Ikechukwu Agude and his family,
faulted Police claims, lamenting that the force had ruined them,
saying the house was never a MASSOB hideout.

Agude said: "We don't have any business with MASSOB members here
because they use another building behind ours as their office. I was
surprised to hear that our house was set ablaze by the police when I
went to work yesterday. My wife went to school because she is a
teacher, including my daughter, Onyinye while my first son also went
out to his workplace. I have lived in that house since 2006 even
before MASSOB came and occupied the house behind mine. That house was
the only thing I have in this world, including my family. What has
been lost is overN10 million. Governor Willie Obiano should come to
our rescue please."

Counsel to Mr. Agude, Chris Okoro, while reacting, said "We understand
the governor is cleansing the state but that does not mean setting
ablaze people's property. The suspected MASSOB members involved should
be arrested and interrogated to know their mind. The law should be
followed to avoid harming the innocent. The entire process of burning
houses is wrong".

First son of Mr. Agude, Chika, while lamenting the incident, said: "I
am finished. My whole certificates from my primary to tertiary
institutions have all gone. My mother has developed high blood
pressure and now she is in hospital.

"MASSOB office is behind our building and they left it and set our own
ablaze while we have all gone to work, including my father, who is a
driver at Onitsha South Council Area. As it is now, the family has no
other alternative place to live as we have been rendered homeless".

Also his sister, Onyinye declared: "Our first building was demolished
by Power Holding Company of Nigeria in 2011 because they said our
house was near the high tension but when my father built it, the high
tension was not there. Today, the one he built after the demolition of
the other one has also been demolished and this time by the police."

Also reacting, Mazi Chris Mocha, the Personal Assistant to MASSOB
Leader, Chief Uwazuruike, dismissed police claims, saying the house
was not occupied by MASSOB members but another Igbo Organization known
as Igbo Ga-adinma, which was set up by politicians to fight MASSOB".

However, Vanguard reported that the police squad, led by Onitsha
Police Area Commander, Mr. Benjamin Wordu, in company of two
Divisional Police Officers, DPOs of Okpoko and Fegge, Mr. Emeka Ugwu
and Rabiu Garba, stormed the building and set it ablaze.

The source claimed that a gun and some bags of substances believed to
be Indian hemp were recovered from the house before it was set ablaze.

The house, police alleged had been used by MASSOB members as their
base, where innocent people were allegedly tortured and extorted.

Morocco Reportedly Withdraws As Host Of 2015 Africa Cup Of Nations Due To Ebola

Morocco has withdrawn its rights to host the African Cup of Nations
next year due to fears of the Ebola virus, which has ravaged some West
African nations over the last few months.

Moroccan government had given the Confederation of African Football
three scenarios to either let the country host the 2017 tournament, to
postpone AFCON 2015 to 2016 or they pull out completely and take any
consequence from CAF. But the continent football governing body
failed to respond, prompting the government's decision to pull out to
avoid the risk of Ebola spread to the North African country,
supersport.com reports.

A close source at the Ministry of Sports told superspot.com: "Since
CAF rejected all our requests and suggestions then we are forced to
withdraw from hosting AFCON 2015 with immediate effect to preserve the
safety of our citizens and for that we are prepared to accept any
decision that comes with our actions."

The withdrawal of Morocco has put South Africa in the focus as next
hosts after SAFA President Danny Jordan met with CAF President Issa
Hayatou to discuss the matter.

Sudan has also requested to CAF to be considered as alternative hosts.

South Africa was initially scheduled to host the tournament in 2017
following the withdrawal of Libya as hosts due to ongoing fighting
there.

Meanwhile, Egypt had also indicated interest in hosting next year's
Nations Cup, stating its confidence in organising the competition
under short notice.

US Donates $5mn To Help Pay Liberian Ebola Medics

The United States has pledged $5 million (four million euros) to
Liberia to help compensate health workers on the frontline of the
Ebola epidemic, the Liberian president's office said Wednesday.

Rajiv Shah, the head of the US Agency for International Development,
announced the contribution after meeting Tuesday with Liberian
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on the second day of a strike by the
health workers over promised hazard pay.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Boerge Brende, who attended the meeting,
also pledged stepped-up logistical and financial support towards the
campaign to contain the spiralling Ebola epidemic, Johnson Sirleaf's
office said in a statement.

Norway will add around nine million euros to its support, bringing the
total to some 39 million euros, the Norwegian foreign ministry said in
a statement in Oslo.

In addition, Norway's health ministry told AFP in Oslo that 220 people
including doctors have volunteered to fight the outbreak in Sierra
Leone.

Shah said the US aid was part of an overall package of $142 million
dollars of "critical support", of which $65 million would help pay for
"training, community-based engagements and the construction of care
centres across the country," Johnson Sirleaf's office said.

The health care workers union announced late Tuesday it was ending a
nationwide strike launched Monday, saying they put their country's
needs first following global appeals to end their protest.

"We received calls from all over the world asking us to end the
strike," the union's secretary general, George Williams, told AFP.

Ninety-six Liberian health workers have died so far in the epidemic
and their colleagues were seeking compensation for the risk of dealing
with Ebola, which spreads through contact with bodily fluids and for
which there is no vaccine or widely available treatment.

"Religious, political and social leaders, Liberians in the diaspora,
as well as the international community asked us to think of our sick
brothers and sisters. We listened to them," Williams said.

After the union demanded hazard pay as well as permanent contracts for
some 6,000 workers, he said negotiators "promised to do something to
find a solution".

The worst Ebola outbreak on record of has claimed 4,493 lives, out of
8,997 recorded cases since the start of the year, most of them in
Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

Army Court Martials 59 Soldiers Over Mutiny, Insubordination

A military court martial has began the trial of 59 soldiers in Abuja
for alleged criminal conspiracy to commit mutiny and for disobeying
the order of their commanding officer in Maiduguri, Borno state
capital on August 4, 2014 in Maiduguri.

The accused soldiers were also charged with mutiny for refusing to
obey the orders of their commanding officer, Lt. Col. Timothy Opurum,
of the 111 Special Forces Battalion, to take part in an operation.

The judge advocate, Lt. Col Ukpe Ukpe, who read the charges to them,
said the operation in question was meant to recapture Yelwa,
Bellabulini, and Damboa in Borno State.

Although, the Army authorities initially planned to charge 60 soldiers
for mutiny, the charges against one of the accused was dropped because
of ill health.

The lead prosecutor, Capt. Joseph Nwosu, called the attention of the
court to the fact that the 11th accused person, CPL Anthony Simon, was
too sick to be arraigned.

He said the list of accused had to be amended to reflect that 59
people are being arraigned for mutiny.

The 59 accused soldiers are being defended by the law firm of Mr. Femi Falana.

Alicia Keys Leads #BringBackOurGirls Protest In New York City

To mark the 6th month of the Chibok Girls abduction, singer, Alicia
Keys led a group of #BringBackOurGirls protesters and stormed the
Nigerian consulate in New York on Tuesday.

Carrying different placards and chanting 'When do we want them? Now!
Now! Alive!', the protesters raised awareness about the missing girls,
noting that their story is in danger of being forgotten.

Over 200 schoolgirls had been abducted by members of the Boko Haram
terrorist group on April 14and although some of the girls managed to
escape, most of them are still in captivity and their fates unknown.

Alicia Keys who was also celebrating her son's fourth birthday wrote
on her instagram: "On my lil guys birthday I stand with the mothers of
Chibok!!"

The pregnant star was also joined by her husband, Swizz Beatz.

"Today is my son's birthday and it is also making me stand in
solidarity with all the mothers of the Chibok girls who have been
abducted for six months and are still missing,' she said.

"It is just outrageous that that's going on

"Some people have even told me they've heard things about 'there's
been progress,' but there hasn't been progress because the girls
aren't back.'

"So I think that we get mixed information. We don't know, so we just
have to keep being made aware of what's happening," she said.

My Fans Made Me A Town Crier - Sound Sultan

Jagbajantis star, Sound Sultan, has explained why he has not had any
major song that emphasises issues bothering Nigerians recently.

The singer whose "2010", a song about the epileptic power supply in
Nigeria, was a major hit, told Channels Television's Entertainment
Correspondent - Mayowa Ogundele- that he still sings conscious music
but that people don't look out for those songs as they should and that
they only wanted to use him as a town crier.

"That Sound Sultan is still here. He's not gone anywhere. It's the
people that are listening that are no longer there anymore."

He also complained that media stations, especially OAPs, did not play
some of his conscious music, which is why his fans do not get to hear
them.

"When the airplay reduces on conscious music, then people keep asking
me - have I stopped it. No! I have a song Temporary Turn Permanent and
that song - I shot a video to it but nobody played the video.

"I gave it (video) to them (media stations), the way I gave them other
songs but you'll never see it anywhere; Because I had inserts of the
subsidy riot and everything, people said it's too confrontational. I
don't feel it's like that.

"If you start depriving the people of the truth, they will never get
it," he said.

He also explained that he had all kinds of music, including the
feel-good ones on his album.

"You can't be too predictable with your music. You need to be a little
bit of everything. Even Fela (Kuti) had "Lady" as his song."

He urged fans who want more of his conscious music to search for them
because many of the OAPs (On Air Personalities) select which songs
they like and give them prominence, relegating other songs on the
album to relative obscurity.

"You should go and get that song. You should go and download it on
iTunes," he said, adding that artistes only get courage to shoot music
videos when the songs have good airplay.

Sound Sultan also said he's tired of being a mouth-piece because it
makes people lazy to demand their rights.

"What I try to spark from people is individualism. For you to know
that everybody is a part of that voice that those people (implying
government) need to hear."

Corps Member Absconds With N2.3M Meant For 144 Corpers In Osun

A Youth Corper by name Abayomi Isaac Oyebukola is being accused of
absconding with about N2.3m given to him to share among 144 corps
members in Osun State.

He is a Batch 'C' corps member, serving in Iwo LGA of Osun state with
NYSC state code no is OS/13C/1402. He is the Corper Liaison Officer
(CLO) as chosen by the NYSC Local Government Inspector (LGI). Abayomi
is a graduate of the department of English from the University of
Ibadan.

He has since been 'at large' with $14,400 given to him on the 9th of
August 2014 by political parties that participated in the Osun state
gubernatorial election as a largesse to the 144 corps members of the
local
government that participated in the election which amounts to $100 per person.

Abayomi was seen by some of his friends in Ibadan with claims from
them that he has bought a car and said he will collect his NYSC
discharge certificate through the back door.

The NYSC officials reportedly do not want it to be brought to light
but the aggrieved corp members are scared he may end up getting his
discharge certificate and later on become a political figure and in
time steal from Nigerians.

My Sayings

There is one thing in this world that has the ability to change our
whole life in an instant. It's action.

Arsenal Lead Chase To Sign £15m Emenike

Despite investing over £50m in Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez the
Metro claims that Arsenal are readying a £15m bid for Fenerbahce
striker Emmanuel Emenike.

The Nigerian international has been strongly linked with a move to the
Premier League for the best part of two years and has been a moderate
success in Turkey but one wonders quite why Arsene Wenger would feel
the need to target the former Spartak Moscow man.

Emenike has scored 12 goals in 28 matches last season and picked up
nine assists but given that both Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are
nearing returns from respective injuries there seems little reason to
bring in another forward, let alone one with very little top league
experience.

Wenger may be better off investing the £15m in the signing of a much
needed defensive midfielder.

IYC Wants Death Of Alam's Son Probed

Ijaw youths under the aegis of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide have
demanded a thorough investigation into the cause of the death of the
son of former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye
Alamieyesiegha.

The ex-governor's son, Oyamuyefa, popularly known as Oyoms, died in Dubai.

The IYC said the death of the 32-year-old Oyoms, was not only a loss
to the Alamieyesegha's family but the entire Ijaw nation.

In a statement by the IYC spokesman, Eric Omare, the Ijaw youths said
steps should be taken by the Federal Government to protect other
Nigerians in foreign countries.

The youths noted that there had been increasing cases of questionable
deaths of Nigerians abroad without the foreign country giving a proper
account of the cause of death.

They said it was unfortunate that after more than three days of Oyom's
death, the cause of his death was still unclear.

They said, "The IYC therefore calls on the Federal Government of
Nigeria to ensure that there is proper investigation of the cause of
death of the young Alamieyesiegha and take steps to protect Nigerians
abroad.

"A situation where foreigners are given the best of treatment in
Nigeria but Nigerians in abroad are treated like lesser human beings
and killed indiscriminately is totally unacceptable to the IYC."

Meanwhile, Senate President David Mark on Tuesday expressed shock over
the death of Oyamuyefa.

Mark said it was painful that Oyamiefa's life was cut short by the
cold hand of death in a foreign land, and urged Alaimeyeseigha "to
bear this cross with a rekindled faith in God that we shall meet
Oyamiefa at the feet of Jesus Christ on the last day."

The senate president, in another statement, has described the late
Chief Tayo Akpata as a nationalist who lived for a viable and united
Nigeria.

Mark, in a condolence message to the family of the late former
Executive Secretary of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund, said the
deceased was a fulfilled Nigerian who devoted his life to the service
of humanity.

He recalled the services rendered by late Akpata while in active service.

He said, "Chief Akpata lived a life full of passion for our country.
He was a nationalist to the core.

"When he served as the Executive Secretary of the defunct Petroleum
Trust Fund, he was outstanding. He was ever ready to teach the younger
generation from his vast experiences. He preached love, peace and
unity to every Nigerian."

Fayose Arrives In Ado, Lifts Curfew In Ekiti

There was confusion in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday when the Governor-elect,
Ayo Fayose, announced the lifting of the curfew imposed by the
outgoing Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

The Governor-elect, who returned to Ekiti in the afternoon amid cheers
and jubilation by his supporters, announced this while featuring on a
live radio and television interview monitored on the Nigerian
Television Authority in Ado-Ekiti.

Fayemi had on September 26, while declaring a dusk-to-dawn curfew in
the state, said, "There would be no movement between the hours of 7pm
and 7am. everyday till further notice.

"We urge the citizenry to be vigilant and provide the security
agencies with details of suspicious activities that can undermine the
peace in our state."

The declaration followed widespread violence across the state capital
after the murder of a former Chairman of the National Union of Road
Transport Workers, Omolafe Aderiye, by unknown gunmen.

The office of Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation and three vehicles
in the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress were burnt
the next day.

On September 22, political thugs had invaded the Ekiti State High
Court presided over by Justice Olusegun Ogunyemi to disrupt
proceedings in a case challenging the eligibility of the
Governor-elect, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, to contest the June 21 election
won by him.

The invasion took place shortly after the judge refused an application
to set aside an order abridging the time for the Peoples Democratic
Party's candidate to file his defence in the case filed by two members
of the Ekiti-11, a member, Mr. Adeniyi Ajakaiye and Olufemi Ajayi.

On September 25, another judge, Justice John Adeyeye, was beaten by
some political thugs who also tore his suit into shreds.

Fayose said residents should ignore the subsisting curfew and go about
their normal duty because it had brought untold hardship to the
people.

He said, "It is unfortunate that people have been put on under
needless pressure and I have discussed with police and the army on the
need to let people move around freely."

He promised to personally seek the release of anyone arrested by law
enforcement agencies.

Fayose likened the alleged last minute efforts by the All Progressives
Congress and the Ekiti-11 to stop his October 16 inauguration to the
last kick of a dying horse.

Besides, he said the outgoing government would leave a debt profile of
nearly N84bn for his administration.

Soldier Goes Berserk, Shoots Colleague To Death

A soldier, Lance Corporal Muazu Haruna, attached to the 423 Battalion,
Elele Barracks, in Rivers State has shot a colleague, Staff Sergeant
Ishiaku Shuaibu to death in Bayelsa State.

It was learnt that the incident took place at the Bayelsa State
Government House in the evening of Monday.

It was learnt that the shooting of his senior colleague was due to
issues bordering on allowances.

It was further learnt that the aggrieved soldier, who was drafted a
few days to Maiduguri, Borno State, had come to the Government House
to collect his allowances but the deceased allegedly prevented him
from entering the premises.

It was gathered that the suspected killer soldier, who was in mufti at
the time of the incident, allegedly snatched the service rifle of his
colleague and shot the deceased dead.

A security source told PUNCH correspondent that the killer soldier had
arrived from the Elele Military Barracks in Rivers State following the
payment of duty allowances.

It was gathered that while two other colleagues on duty left their
duty post briefly to attend to some personal matters, the killer
soldier took the opportunity to shoot Staff Sergeant to death.

The source said, "He immediately ran away with the rifle and boarded
a commercial tricycle popularly known as Keke NAPEP and headed towards
Hospital Road.

"The sounds of the gun shots attracted the policemen on duty at the
Banquet hall. The policemen however intercepted and stopped the
tricycle.

"The policemen initially did not know the gunshots killed the soldier.
Upon interrogation and investigation, the bloodied body of the soldier
was found at his duty post."

The policemen were said to have immediately arrested the suspected
killer and the tricycle driver.

A security source, however, said the arrested soldier, who was taken
to the Area Command Division of the Police, had since been released to
the Joint Military Task Force due to the intervention of an unnamed
Captain.

Police spokesman in the state, Mr. Alex Akhigbe, said the command was
aware of the incident and that the military had taken over.

"It is a pure military affair. The military has taken over the matter," he said.

Why I Left Yoruba Acting Scenes --Actress Funke Akindele

Funke Akindele,in a recent interview has disclosed that studying Law
at the University was to please her father, who wanted her to be a
lawyer. The talented act said she has always had passion for
entertainment.

Funke Akindele stated that even though she does not have the intention
to practice what she studied in school, but she enjoys it, adding that
Law is interesting and beautiful, which she reflects in her stories in
movies. The actress praised her mum who she said understood and gave
her the opportunity to try her hands in acting, which eventually paid
off.

Funke Akindele, who started her acting career in the English speaking
sector of the Nigerian film industry, which many regard as the core
Nollywood, stated that she did not get the needed fame from that area
and got frustrated.

According to her, she left for the Yoruba speaking aspect of Nollywood
because she felt that there was no place for her in the core
Nollywood.

The actress got a big break in the movie industry after she released
her self-produced flick, 'Jenifa', and is now very busy in the English
speaking area of the film industry in Nigeria.

She explained that the difference between the two industries is that
those who act in English movies are better paid, while those in the
Yoruba sector make more money through movie production.

Entrepreneur To Sell Ebola.com Domain For $150,000

(Photo: Jon Schultz)

A self-proclaimed "domain entrepreneur" is planning on selling the
www.ebola.com domain for $150,000.

The man, Jon Schultz, specializes in buying disease domains and
selling them for large amounts of money.

In addition to the Ebola.com domain, Daily Mailreports that Schultz
also owns: H1N1.com, birdflu.com, terror.com, PotassiumIodide.com,
fukushima.com, and others.

He bought the Ebola domain 4 years ago for$13,500and has been waiting
for the right opportunity to sell it, and according to him, that time
is now - in the midst of the current Ebola epidemic.

"Ebola.com would be a great domain for a pharmaceutical company
working on a vaccine or cure, a company selling pandemic or
disaster-preparedness supplies, or a medical company wishing to
provide information and advertise services"Schultz said.

Some have accused him of taking advantage of a tragedy, but he has
denied the allegations, saying that doctors do the same.

"You could say the same thing about doctors. They can become very
well-off treating very sick patients.

Besides we have sacrificed a couple of thousands in parking page
income to put up links about Ebola on the site. And people can also
donate to Doctors Without Borders at the site," he said.

Facebook Founder, Wife Donate N4bn To Fight Ebola

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of the popular social
networking website, Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, and his wife, Priscilla
Chan, have donated $25m (about N4bn) to fight the Ebola disease.

Making the announcement on his Facebook page, Zuckerberg said they
wanted to stop the epidemic before it spread further out of control
and becomes a bigger (and more expensive) global issue to fight, like
HIV.

He wrote, "Priscilla and I are donating $25m to the Centres for
Disease Control Foundation to help fight Ebola. The epidemic is at a
critical turning point. It has infected 8,400 people so far, but it is
spreading very quickly and projections suggest it could infect 1
million people or more over the next several months if not addressed.

"We need to get Ebola under control in the near term so that it
doesn't spread further and become a long term global health crisis
that we end up fighting for decades at large scale, like HIV or polio.

"We believe our grant is the quickest way to empower the CDC and the
experts in this field to prevent this outcome. Grants like this
directly help the frontline responders in their heroic work. These
people are on the ground setting up care centres, training local
staff, identifying Ebola cases and much more. We are hopeful this will
help save lives and get this outbreak under control."

Natural Ways To Address Infertility

Infertility is an alarming modern epidemic affecting more couples than
ever. One out of six couples today experience difficulty achieving
pregnancy. What was once seen as a woman's problem is now known to
affect men equally.

The natural approach to treating infertility solves the root causes of
infertility by addressing all body systems, rather than just focusing
solely on the reproductive system. Many couples that can't become
pregnant suffer from a combination of sub-clinical conditions. These
conditions can't cause infertility on their own but, in combination,
they can substantially reduce a couple's probability of achieving
conception.

For example, gluten intolerance alone cannot cause infertility;
however, the resulting inflammation in the gut can minimise your
nutrient absorption and lead to deficiencies in the nutrients that you
need for optimal sperm, egg and hormone production and a healthy
pregnancy. Exposure to heavy metals, radiation and toxic chemicals in
some foods, drugs and other products can damage DNA. Recent
nutrigenomic (a study of the effects of nutrients on gene expression)
research suggests what we eat can influence our gene structure and
expression.

Exposure to toxic chemicals

Exposure to environmental toxins (in the form of industrial chemicals)
both in-utero and neonatally may dramatically affect adult fertility.
Most chemicals used in everyday life do not go through the same checks
medicines do. Consequently, poisonous chemicals end up circulating in
our environment, food supply, air and water.

The strongest evidence of heavy metals and environmental pollution
adversely interfering with healthy reproductive function in women has
been found for lead. Other compounds that can alter hormone function
and result in adverse reproductive health effects include:

*.Ovotoxicants: can disrupt or even stop ovulation.

*.Endocrine disruptors: can interfere with hormone function and cause
endometriosis and polycystic ovarian disease.

*.Phthalates: in plastic food containers, cling wrap, IV bags, medical
supplies, vinyl flooring and packaging at high levels have been
associated with miscarriage and testicular toxicity. At low levels,
they disrupt hormonal balance.

*.Polyvinyl chloride chemicals: used in rubber tires, plastics and pesticides.

*.Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon: released from cigarettes, car fumes
and road tar

Men are not spared

Sperm seems to be more sensitive to heavy metals and industrial
pollutants than eggs. Many sperm abnormalities have been linked to
these toxins. The majority of these chemicals can be found in the
atmosphere, on the ground in cities and in the waterways. They have
also been termed "reprotoxicants" for their negative effects on sperm
development and maturation.

Studies confirm that male sperm counts are declining, and
environmental factors such as pesticides, exogenous estrogens
(Xenoestrogens), and heavy metals may negatively impact formation of
sperm.

Six environmental toxins to avoid

Pesticides:found on non-organic fruit and vegetables, meat, dairy and
unfiltered tap water

Formaldehyde:found in air fresheners, deodorants, floor polish,
upholstery cleaners

Bisphenols:found in plastic containers and can leach into food and water.

Organic solvents:petroleum-based liquids found in household products,
electronics, car repair, health care, photography, agriculture,
printing, construction and cosmetics, dry-cleaning chemicals, paint
fumes and many more. Occasional exposure to one or the other toxic
chemical is not of concern. What is of concern is accumulation of
these chemicals over a long period.

Unfiltered tap water:Our waterways are constantly being polluted by
industrial waste and byproducts, pharmaceutical drugs, pesticides,
herbicides and commercial cleaning products. There are many companies
polluting the water, regardless of the country you live in. Either
there is no environmental law at all, or there are loopholes in the
law or there is no law for a particular chemical getting into the
water.

Heavy metals: these are the most common of the reprotoxins reaching
our water supply through industrial waste, jet fuel exhaust residue
and a variety of other sources. Pharmaceutical drugs are commonly
found in tap water.

Seventy-four per cent of the U.S. population takes prescription drugs.
But because the drugs do not metabolise fully, small quantities are
excreted via faeces and urine and flushed away. Toilet water is often
treated and filtered before being discharged into lakes and rivers,
thereby re-entering the water supply.

I Have No Relationship With Lionel Messi - Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo has described his rivalry with
Lionel Messi as a positive rivalry and sees no big deal being compared
to the Barcelona forward as they both have no relationship outside
football.

Speaking with World Soccer recently, when asked for his thoughts on
the rivalry with the Argentine forward, the three times World best
said: 'This is part of my life, It is normal that people compare us. I
am used to it. It happened to me at Manchester United and I know how
to manage it.'

'We are football colleagues. Outside of football I have no
relationship with Messi, but not with other players either. It is a
positive rivalry'

The Portuguese player left Manchester United in 2009 to Real Madrid
for a World record fee of £80million.

Cameroon Vows To 'Totally Wipe Out' Boko Haram After Hostages' Release

Cameroon's President Paul Biya on Monday vowed his government would go
after the Islamist group Boko Haram "until it's totally wiped out".

"The Cameroonian government assures you that it will ceaselessly
continue to fight Boko Haram until it's totally wiped out," Biya said.

The 27 Cameroonians and Chinese were delivered to authorities on Friday night.

The government has not said how they were freed, but a security source
said that "a ransom" was paid and around 20 imprisoned Islamists were
freed in exchange.

The Chinese were seized in May from a construction camp in Waza near
the border with Nigeria in an attack that left one Cameroonian soldier
dead.

The Cameroonians -- including the wife of one of Cameroon's deputy
prime ministers -- were abducted in July during two simultaneous
assaults, also blamed on Boko Haram, in which at least 15 people died.

"We were in these sort of huts in a pretty dense forest," one of the
released Cameroonians, Seiny Boukar Lamine, told state radio.

"It was in a savannah with big trees and a lot of brush. We slept on
the ground," he said. He said he was held along with his wife and six
children.

Cameroon shares a border of more than 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles)
with Nigeria, where Boko Haram has been waging a bloody insurgency
since 2009 in which 10,000 people have died.

The Islamist group did not claim responsibility for the kidnappings,
but it has been involved in other abductions, including that of over
200 schoolgirls in Nigeria in a case that sparked international
outrage.

Boko Haram's forays into Cameroon have prompted the government to
deploy soldiers and combat planes to the north of the country.

On October 7, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria agreed to dispatch
700 soldiers to target the group.
