Ogwuche Not Arraigned On Terrorism Charges --Police

The Police high command yesterday in Abuja declared that contrary to
widely held belief that suspected terrorist, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche was
set free by the federal high court, Abuja because the case against him
was bungled, it never arraigned the suspect on terrorism charges.

The Police noted that it only assisted the Department of State
Services, DSS, who was prosecuting the suspect, to carry out the
extradition of Ogwuche to Nigeria from Sudan where he ran to.

(Photo: Nyanya bomb blast suspect Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche sits in the
courtroom in Abuja on November 24, 2014. A Nigerian court on November
24 struck out terrorism related charges against Ogwuche, the alleged
mastermind of an April 14, 2014 bus station bomb blast in Nyanya, an
outskirt of the capital city of Abuja, which was claimed by Boko Haram
islamists, that killed 71 people and wounded 124. AFP PHOTO

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Emmanuel
Ojukwu read: "The attention of the Nigeria Police High Command has
been drawn to a most misleading media report that charges filed by the
Nigeria Police at the Federal High Court Abuja, were struck out for
lack of diligent prosecution in respect of the suspected terrorist
Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche.

"It would be recalled that the Department of State Services (DSS),
that had intelligence on the Nyanya Bombing and was investigating it,
made a formal request to the Nigeria Police to assist in extraditing
one Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche to Nigeria from Sudan, through the Interpol
channel of which the Nigeria Police is well versed.

"It was at this stage and for this reason that the Nigeria Police
Force filed charges against the suspected fugitive Aminu Sadiq
Ogwuche, based on information that he fled to Sudan.

"The filing of charges against the suspect is a legal procedure to
enable the Nigeria Police formally request Sudanese authorities to
grant Nigeria's extradition request in respect of the suspected
fugitive.

"For the records, copy of filed charge(s) against a fugitive must be
appended to documents in support of extradition request made to the
host country, which in this case, is Sudan.

"These facts were made known to the court when it insisted on the
production of the accused even before his extradition to Nigeria.

"Following Ogwuche's extradition which the Nigeria Police accomplished
successfully, the DSS, obtained a court order to remand the suspect
for an initial period of three months in line with the Prevention of
Terrorism Act and also liaised with the Office of the Attorney-General
of the Federation to undertake his prosecution.

"For the record, at no time did the Nigeria Police arraign the suspect
in court for terrorism related offences. Moreover, the purported
prosecution/arraignment by the Police could not have happened as the
Police could not prosecute a suspect it never arrested, never
investigated nor had in its custody.

"It is therefore grossly erroneous, mischievous and malicious to
impute lack of diligent prosecution to the Police. The Nigeria Police
Force is manifestly and positively committed to the will of Nigerians
to rid the nation of violent crimes like terrorism. Many of our
officers have paid the supreme sacrifice on account of this.

"The Police while respecting the rights of the media to publish,
however appeals that due diligence be observed to ensure that
misleading information is not disseminated to the reading public."

Tension As Jonathan Meets Imo/Other PDP Guber Aspirants

Ahead the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries
nationwide, an interface meeting between the national leader of the
party, and President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan involving all the aspirants
of the PDP seeking to carry the party's governorship ticket in 2015
election is expected to hold in Abuja before the end of this week.

The meeting, according to top party sources in Owerri and Abuja, is
expected to hold in Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, where it was learnt that
crucial matters concerning how to reclaim Government House, Owerri,
will be discussed.

Trumpeta reports that the meeting became necessary in view of
discordant tunes and disagreements that have been trailing the conduct
of the ward congresses to elect the three-man ad-hoc delegates for all
party primaries except the presidency with National Delegates from
each of the 27 LGAs in the state. Apart from protest letters, some of
the aspirants for various offices, especially the governorship mounted
pressure on PDP leadership and Presidency for cancellation of the Nov
1 delegates election.

Apparently worried by the unabated war of attrition in PDP ranks, the
Presidency is said to be have stepped in to act as the "last bust
stop" for the peaceful resolution of the matter.

Though, Trumpeta has not obtained official reasons for the meeting
believed to be an internal matter of the party, but grapevine sources
indicate that President Jonathan may have been disturbed by
developments in Imo PDP to intervene. This newspaper further gathered
that apart from instituting peaceful initiatives to guarantee harmony,
a guarantee that losers in the governorship primaries will be properly
accommodated in the scheme of things at both national and state levels
may be considered.

The highlight of the meeting, Trumpeta was told may also centre on
each of the aspirant signing an undertaking to not only accept the
result of the primaries but also work for the restoration of the PDP
in the Government House of the state.

According to the sources, the meeting to be graced by PDP national
officers will also act as a face-mending forum to avoid sabotage and
implosion ahead 2015 election.

No party official at the state level was willing to speak on the
matter except one who pleaded anonymity. According to the stakeholder
who spoke with our correspondent at the party secretariat yesterday
"yes, we have heard about the meeting but full details have not been
made public yet. But you know that there is little disagreement that
could be the reason why the President is asking them to come for a
meeting", he added.

Imo APC Reserves Guber Ticket For Rochas

Despite his inability to publicly make a categorical statement and
declare which office to seek for in 2015 election, Trumpeta can reveal
that Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has APC governorship
ticket in his kitty, courtesy of the state arm of the party.

The Imo APC governorship primaries will therefore be a fait accompli
to confirm the one-way traffic of the exercise meant to favour the
incumbent.

Indications that the verbal expressions of governor Okorocha about
running for the Presidency in 2015 is a decoy to deceive unsuspecting
APC members about his next political destination emerged on Sunday
when he surreptitiously made intentions for running for governor.
While the governor goes about claiming to be interested in becoming
Nigeria's President next year, he is yet collect Presidential form
after collecting the expression of interest form. Ironically, Okorocha
is yet to return the national office of the party any from to run for
the number one position in the country as the likes of Retired Gen
Mohammed Buhari and Ababakar Atiku have done so.

A startling revelation again emerged on Sunday that Okorocha is deeply
interested in obtaining a second tenure as governor of Imo state. In a
party meeting with APC stakeholders from Owerri and Okigwe zones held
at the Imo International Convention Centre, IICC, Owerri, on Sunday
Okorocha asked if anybody is running under APC platform and all
members chorused "No" in response.

The governor in acknowledging their responses that nobody is running
for the governorship position, thanked them for finding him worthy as
a governor and promised not to disappoint them since he will offer
himself to serve them again in that capacity.

Even as the governor 24 hours later informed South East APC delegates
of his unquenchable desire to run for the presidency,

Trumpeta reports being informed that a top Aide of the governor has
secretly obtained the APC guber form for him for 2015 election. The
plot which has been earlier revealed by Trumpeta will act as plan B
option for Okorocha should he fail to get what he wants at the federal
level.

Authoritative party sources informed Trumpeta that Okorocha will run
for the governorship and has a reserved APC guber ticket kept by the
party in Imo.

It would be recalled that at the close of sale of forms for 2015
elections in Imo APC, no aspirant was publicly announced to have
picked the governorship form from the IMSU Roundabout office of the
state party office in Owerri.

This Newspaper gathered that to pull the wool over the eyes of the
people of the state especially APC people, Okorocha muted the idea of
mock primaries for the party in the state. The shadowy exercise
according to the party sources is to undermine the orthodox practice
of open primaries meant to select candidates. In the process of
observing the awkward mock primaries, there will be no governorship
primaries and he will be rail-rolled to pick the governorship ticket
of APC.

A top office holder in Imo state government is said to have secretly
obtained the APC form for the governor even as speculations have
continued to trail issues concerning the party's governorship ticket
in Imo.

Buhari's N1m Unsettles Imo APC Delegates

Ahead of the December 10 National Convention of the All Progressive
Congress (APC), Imo State delegates to the exercise have been thrown
into a state of confusion by the N1m largess given to them by a
presidential aspirant, Muhamed Buhari.

The ex-head of state who visited Imo this week met with the delegates
at the Regent Hotels, Owerri, during which he lobbied them to vote for
him even when their principal, Governor Rochas Okorocha is also
reported to be running for the same ticket.

Trumpeta reports that given the large turnout of APC delegate present
during the visit of the former head of state there was a bit confusion
between the leadership and the party faithful as they could not come
to terms over the sharing formular of N1million meant to lobby them to
vote for him.

Mr Buhari who recently launched a crowd sourcing campaign on social
Media to raise funds for the primaries had in October revealed how he
took loam and borrowed from several banks to procure the APC
Presidential nomination and expression of interest form which cost
27.5 million.

The formal military leader who expressed dismay over cost of
nomination from which he described as expensive and how he took loan
and borrowed from several banks to purchase his form.

He expressed regret he couldn't influence the amount to be out down as
in the case of lands and disabled that intend to participate.

he fell into a suck-away pit.

could be put in place to rescue him, the said Chisom had already given
up.

Confirming the incident to Trumpeta, Police Public relations Officer,
Imo State Command, Andrew Enwere, (DSP) said that police operatives
have moved in to investigate the matter adding that the command got

OPEC Elects Diezani First Female President

Nigeria's Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Allison Madueke, has been
elected as President of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting
Countries (OPEC).

Alison-Madueke's election as President of OPEC took place on Thursday
at the ongoing 166th ordinary meeting of the Organisation, taking
place in Vienna, Austria.

She becomes the first female to be elected into that position, and
replaces Libya's Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman
Atahar Al-Ahirish, who was occupying the position.

Before her election, Mrs Alison-Madueke was the alternate president of
OPEC and is expected to immediately begin to serve her one-year term
at the helm of OPEC affairs.

It is expected that OPEC, during its ongoing 166th meeting, would make
key decisions that could halt the dwindling price of crude oil.

Diezani K. Alison-Madueke, born 6 December 1960, became Nigeria's
Minister of Transportation on July 26, 2007. She was moved to Mines
and Steel Development in 2008, and in April 2010 was appointed
Minister of Petroleum Resources.

In accordance with its Statute, the mission of the Organization of the
Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, is to coordinate and unify the
petroleum policies of its Member Countries and ensure the
stabilization of oil markets in order to secure an efficient, economic
and regular supply of petroleum to consumers, a steady income to
producers and a fair return on capital for those investing in the
petroleum industry.

Nigeria Remains 42nd In Latest FIFA Ranking While S'Africa Moves Up 6 Spots To 51st Place

FIFA released its world ranking for the month of November early today
and Nigeria's Super Eagles have neither risen nor moved down the
ranking, but remain number 42, which they were last month.

In the month under review, the Eagles failed to make it to the 2015
Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Equatorial Guinea in January
after Stephen Keshi's led Eagles went to Congo to beat the Red Devils
2-0 and drew 2-2against South Africa in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Bafana Bafana of South Africa and Congo, however, moved up six and
three positions as they are now on 51 and 59 in the world
respectively. Algeria retain their number one position in Africa, but
went down three places to 18 in the world. Tunisia second (22), Ivory
Coast third (24), Senegal fourth (35), Ghana fifth (38),Guinea sixth
(38), Cape Verde Islands seventh (39) and Cameroon eighth (41) behind
Nigeria ninth in Africa.

The November edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking reveals very
little change in the top ten, with the top seven positions unaltered
from last month and world champions Germany still out in front ahead
of Argentina and Colombia. France, however, are now in joint seventh
place together with Portugal (7th, up 2). In the top 20, England
(13th, up 7), Romania (15th, up 6) and Czech Republic (17th, up 5)
have all made good progress.

Qatar Runs Covert Desert Training Camp For Syrian Rebels

Gulf state Qatar is covertly training moderate Syrian rebels at a
desert base with U.S. help to fight both the Islamic State and
President Bashar al-Assad and may include more overtly Islamist
insurgent groups, sources close to the matter has said. Reutersreport:

The camp, south of the capital between Saudi Arabia's border and Al
Udeid, the largest U.S. air base in the Middle East, is being used to
train the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and other moderate rebels, the
sources said.

Reuters could not independently identify the participants in the
program or witness activity inside the base, which lies in a military
zone guarded by Qatari special forces and marked on signposts as a
restricted area.

But Syrian rebel sources said training in Qatar has included rebels
affiliated to the "Free Syrian Army" from northern Syria.

The sources said the effort had been running for nearly a year,
although it was too small to have a significant impact on the
battlefield, and some rebels complained of not being taught advanced
techniques.

Former Chelsea Manager Avram Grant officially appointed as Ghana's National Team Coach

Former Chelsea manager, Avram Grant, has been confirmed as the new
head coach of Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars.

The appointment was confirmed at a press conference by the Ghana
Football Association (GFA) on Thursday by the association's president,
Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The GFA had already announced that Grant would be given the job,
subject to the agreement of personal terms.

However, Nyantakyi told journalists that "all outstanding issues with
Mr. Grant have been cleared and we believe he is the right man for the
job."

The Israeli will officially take over the position on December 1 and
has signed a three-year contract with the GFA.

The GFA president added that Grant had been set a target of winning
the 2017 AFCON, but says it would be unrealistic for the Black Stars
to win the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

"Grant needs time to know the players very well so we can't ask him to
win the nations cup. That will be unrealistic," he said.

Kwesi Nyantakyi said at a press conference earlier in November that
Grant wanted to "understudy" current setup before assuming a full-time
role, which meant that caretaker boss, Maxwell Konadu took charge of
Ghana's AFCON qualifiers against Uganda in Kampala and Togo in Tamale.

The job has been vacant since former boss Kwesi Appiah was sacked in
October after leading the Black Stars to fourth place at the 2013
AFCON and a first round exit at the World Cup in Brazil.

First Class Graduate Of Economics Shot Dead By Policeman While Defending Girlfriend

A gun-happy policeman has killed a 30-year-old first class graduate of
Economics from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, according to
reports.

The victim, Moses Murtala Aminu, who lived at No. 67 Ahmadu Ahidjo
Street, Narayi High Cost family residence, Barnawa, Kaduna State went
to a party on Sunday, where the police constable that killed him, Alex
Okpe, was beating up his girlfriend outside the party venue. When he
tried to intervene, the policeman got angry and shot Aminu, who died
on the spot. The constable was also said to have shot in the air as he
escaped on his motorcycle.

Officers attached to the Barnawa Police Division had since arrested
him, reports say.

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Femi Adenaike confirmed the
incident. According to him, Alex Okpe has been arrested and he
confessed to the killing on interrogation.

Okpe however claimed that he fired the shots in 'self-defence'.

"The suspect is in the cell and we have commenced investigation. And
if he is found guilty, we will give him an in-house trial and summary
dismissal so that he can face the law for homicide," Adenaike said.

Buhari's Aircraft Denied Landing At Makurdi Airport

A chartered aircraft conveying former Head of State and All
Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant, Gen. Mohammadu
Buhari (rtd) and his entourage, was yesterday allegedly denied landing
rights by the authorities of the Federal Airports Authority of
Nigeria, FAAN, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Vanguard reports from a reliable source that Buhari, alongside his
entourage, was travelling from Bayelsa State to Makurdi to woo
delegates of his party ahead of the APC delegates congress scheduled
for December but had their flight denied permission to touch down in
Makurdi.

According to him, "the flight was earlier granted landing permission
but we were all surprised when half an hour to his arrival, a counter
directive was issued mid-flight thereby forcing the aircraft to head
to Abuja.

"What they did was evil and dangerous, what if the plane was low on
fuel, what do think would have happened? Desperation has set in in our
politics and it is posing grave danger to our democracy."

Contacted on phone, Benue State Chairman of the APC, Comrade Abba
Yaro, confirmed the development, describing it as unfortunate.

He explained that loyalists of the party, who had laid siege to the
airport yesterday morning were disappointed and had to disperse when
they learnt of the unfortunate development.

He said: "We will certainly react to this ugly incident because what
they have done was not only callous and wicked but also unacceptable
in modern day Nigeria."

All attempts to speak with officials of FAAN in Makurdi on the matter
failed as they all declined to comment on the issue.

2015: Buhari Raises Funds On Facebook

Former Head of State and All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential
aspirant, General Muhammadu Buhari, has gone to social media to raise
funds for his presidential campaign.

The initiative through a crowd funding platform onfacebookis a new
development in the history of Nigeria's presidential political
campaigns.

In a message on hisfacebookpage, Buhari urged for sacrificial giving
from his supporters, noting that he was not ignorant of their already
difficult living conditions. He, however, cautioned that sacrifice was
needed in order to put an end to the life of the Goodluck Jonathan
administration and with it, according to him, the tide of corruption,
insecurity and other pains on Nigerians.

The message posted last Saturday had as at press time drawn 1,683
likes and been shared by 797 persons.

In the message, Gen. Buhari said:
"As we have made it clear, our campaign is going to be funded, planned
and run by ordinary Nigerian citizens like you. This is in recognition
of your role as biggest stakeholders capable of changing the course of
history of this great yet badly run nation.

"In this regard, we launch our crowd funding platform through which
every Nigerian can contribute his token towards shaping the destiny of
this country. Here are the details:

Account Name: Buhari Support Organizations

Account Number: 2026724405

Bank: First Bank Nigeria

Sort Code: 011150000

"Dear friends, I know what it means to ask citizens over 60 per cent
of whom live on less than $1 per day to donate for this campaign. I
know many of you are finding it difficult to pay your rents, school
and medical bills, to buy the fuel to cook your food, light up your
homes or power your vehicles. I know how it hurts and I know you have
suffered enough.

"But that little contribution - that little sacrifice you make is an
investment in the future that come 2015 will usher in a new era for
our country, one that promises jobs and opportunities for anyone
willing to work hard, and peace and prosperity for all.

"So when you look at that little amount of money you are parting with,
and the money our opponents are offering you for your votes, think not
about the nominal value, think about the choice you are making, and
that choice is very clear; either you put your money for a change you
trust in, or for four more years of insecurity, corruption and bad
leadership under President Jonathan.

"Our opponents have huge financial resources, I have only you and God,
and I trust that our struggle will triumph. Our opponents have foreign
bank accounts and possessions to run to when they destroy this
country, me and you have only this Nigeria to live and die in. So
let's join our hands to make it better.

"Thank you and God bless.

Lionel Messi has broken the all-time Champions League goalscoring
record with a hat-trick against APOEL Nicosia on Tuesday - his
72nd, 73rd and 74th of the competition.

The Barcelona forward drew level with Raul with a brace against Ajax
at the start of November, but his treble against APOEL takes him
away from the rest of the pack.

Luis Suarez was also on target in a 4-0 victory for the Catalan giants.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
TOP SCORERS

1st: Lionel Messi (Barcelona) - 74 goals

2nd: Raul (Real Madrid, Schalke) - 71

3rd: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United, Real Madrid) - 70

4th: Ruud van Nistelrooy (PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Real Madrid) - 56

5th: Thierry Henry (Monaco, Arsenal, Barcelona) - 50

Speaking after the match, Messi said: 'I am very happy to break the
record in such an important competition but this was a big game for
us all records aside.

'We want to compete in every competition and we needed the points tonight.

'We have a difficult last game against a team (Paris Saint-Germain)
that we know very well because we played them last season and this
season too. But we are at home so we have a good chance to finish top
of the group.'

Messi has been the Catalans' star man for much of the last decade,
and at 27, still has many years of Champions League football in him.

Messi's record tally in Europe's elite club competition is the
latest milestone in his stellar career after he broke the six
decades-old La Liga scoring record with a hat-trick in Barca's 5-1
victory at home to Sevilla on Saturday.

Suicide Bombing: Death Toll Rises To 60 In Maiduguri

It has been gathered that the death toll in Tuesday's suicide bombing
at a market in Maiduguri has risen over 60.

Apart from about 35 bodies said to have been taken to the University
of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), 24 were also taken to the State

that the casualty figure was higher, as some bodies could not be
identified.

The permanent secretary in the ministry of health and executive
secretary, hospital management board, Dr Salisu Kwaya Bura told
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state that 24 corpses were deposited
at the hospital. He was told that 54 people were admitted.

"Out of this number, 14 who were critically injured have been referred
to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for proper
treatment while 20 have been discharged," Dr Kwaya Bura told the
governor during his visit to the victims at the State Specialist
Hospital.

Two teenage girls dressed in full hijab were said to have blown
themselves up at a crowded market in Maiduguri. 30 people were earlier
reported to have been killed in the blast, but death toll had since
reason, as more bodies were later discovered at the scene of the
blast.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, it is
believed that the Boko Haram sect was responsible. The sect has killed
over 10,000 Nigerians in various attacks since it started its campaign
in 2009.

Boko Haram wants an Islamic State in Nigeria and claims western
education is sin.

Imo APC Rejects Buhari

The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Benjamin
Uwajumogu Wednesday told former Military Head of State and
presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General
Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), in clear terms that delegates of the APC from
the state will not vote for him in the presidential primaries.

The Speaker made the pronouncement when Buhari paid an unscheduled
visit to the Imo State House of Assembly to solicit support from the
APC legislators of the assembly who are automatic delegates to the
presidential primaries of the party.

Speaker Uwajumogu told the former Head of State that just like most
Igbo men, the Imo State House of Assembly is supporting Governor
Rochas Okorocha for the APC presidential ticket but will not be voting
for Buhari.

The Speaker explained that: "The perception is that APC is not an Igbo
party. Hence the Assembly is joining men of goodwill and indeed the
entire Igbo nation to support Governor Rochas Okorocha and by so doing
prove that Ndigbo truly have a stake in the APC."

Guber Poll: PDP Will Never Win Lagos --Oba Rilwan Akiolu

Ahead of the 2015 general election, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan
Akiolu, has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will never produce
a governor in Lagos State, Nigeria's commercial capital.

Since the return to democratic system of government in 1999, Lagos,
estimated to have a population of over nine million people, has
consistently been ruled by the opposition. The PDP has however,
reiterated its commitment to change the status quo by dislodging the
ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming elections.

Speaking as the chief launcher of the autobiography of the former
President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mustapha Akanbi (retd), at
the Sheraton Hotel in Abuja on Wednesday, the revered monarch said
Lagos would continue to be under the control of All Progressive
Congress, APC.

"Recently, I told Bode George, (Musiliu) Koro and (Adeseye) Ogunlewe
that 'Look at me o! You will never win Lagos'. God will give us
another APC governor", Oba Akiolu said.

The monarch, whose comment elicited some form of excitement from the
audience, recalled that he became Oba of Lagos through divine
intervention and not by financial inducement or political connection.

The retired police officer revealed that "some justices of the Supreme
court, including (Alfa) Belgore, (Lawal) Uwais and (Mustapha) Akanbi
came to me and told me that they intend to go and see the president,
but I told them with due respect that, that is where God wants me to
be.

"One of them, Wali held my hand, and prayed, saying that within one
year, you will see what God will do in your life, and exactly a year
later, my father, the late Oba, joined his ancestors.

"Governor Tinubu came and said don't give anyone any money to be Oba,
if it is yours, it will surely come and that is how I became the Oba,
even though President (Olusegun) Obasanjo was against me", the Oba
said.

Mr. Obasanjo, who was chairman of the occasion and was seated at the
high table with the monarch, simply chuckled in his seat.

'I Have A Clean Conscience' --Ferguson Cop Darren Wilson On Michael Brown's Death

The Ferguson police officer whom a grand jury has chosen not to indict
in the August shooting death of an unarmed teenager said in an
interview Tuesday he would not have done anything differently because
he was trying to save his own life.

In an interview that aired Tuesday evening with George Stephanopoulos
of ABC News, Darren Wilson recalled the incident and said "the reason
I have a clean conscience is because I know I did my job right." The
sit-down marked his first since Monday evening's announcement that a
grand jury had declined to charge him for the killing of Michael
Brown, which ignited bouts of looting and arson in Ferguson despite
state efforts to prepare for the possibility of violence.
Demonstrations from New York to Los Angeles played out into the night.

MORE: Ferguson Erupts Again, After Cop Cleared in Killing

On Aug. 9, Wilson said he and Brown, who was 18, got into a physical
altercation after he approached him, and that Brown threw the first
punch, hitting the left side of his face. "I didn't know if I'd be
able to withstand another hit like that," he said.

Over the course of their altercation, which Wilson said involved
punching and the slamming of his vehicle's door, he said he got a
sense that Brown, who was 6-ft. 4-in. and 289-lb., could easily
overpower him. "I felt the immense power of this man ... It was like a
five-year-old holding onto Hulk Hogan."

Wilson said he threatened to shoot Brown, which is when he said the
teen reached for his gun: "He grabbed the top of my gun, and he said
'you're too much of a p--y to shoot me.'" Next, he recalled aiming his
gun at Brown "thinking this has to work, otherwise I'm going to be
dead." That moment was apparently the first time he ever fired his gun
in the line of duty.

After Brown started walking away, Wilson chased him, explaining
"that's what we were trained to do." Then, he added, when Brown
started to approach him, "he ignored all my commands and just kept
running." The officer said there was "no way" Brown put his hands up,
as has been widely reported.

Wilson said at that point there was nothing he could have done to
prevent Brown's death. When asked if he thought he would have still
shot Brown if he had been white, Wilson said there was "no question"
he would do the same thing.

"I don't think it's a haunting," he admitted. "It's always going to be
something that happened." After the short clip, Stephanopoulos added
that Wilson expressed sympathy for Brown's family.

Bill Cosby's Nephew Speaks Out on Comedian's Sex Assault Allegations

A nephew of Bill Cosbyis speaking out on behalf of the 77-year-old
comedian, saying he "is innocent" in light of the "unjustified
claims."
Braxton Cosby, who heads up Cosby Media Producations, told
FarrahGray.comthat "unless the judicial system can prove otherwise, I
stand behind him and his contributions."

"I would be more inclined to compare it to the passage in the Bible
where the people of the village were about to stone the woman caught
in adultery and Jesus challenged them by saying that the person who is
without sin should cast the first stone," Braxton told the website, as
confirmed by PEOPLE.

"The one difference in this case being that the woman was caught in
the act and her accusers brought her forward. I want to remind
everyone that we live in the greatest country in the entire world, one
that prides itself on the moral law that everyone is innocent until
proven guilty. That's where we stand at this time with the allegations
brought against my uncle."

Interestingly, the production company executive also seemed to suggest
the "attacks" were an attempt to muzzle the kind of "uplifting" and
"inspirational" content that Cosby Media produces. The company's
websitesays its mission is to develop content "that will entertain the
mind and inspire the soul, from books, TV, film and music."

"With my company, Cosby Media Productions, we will continue to push
content that reflects the same positivity," Braxton told
FarrahGray.com. "I feel that the goal here was to destroy the attempts
to instill that type of entertainment going into the next year.
Thankfully, it will not succeed."

In the meantime, two more venues in Washington and Connecticut
reportedly announcedthey were cancelling upcoming appearances
featuring the comedian, amid accusations that he sexually assaulted
several women. Cosby's attorney has called some of the
claims"fantastical."

Bubonic Plague Spreads In Madagascar

An outbreak of bubonic plague in Madagascar has now claimed almost 50
victims and is spreading to the island's capital, officials warned
today.

The health ministry said there had been 138 suspected cases since the
beginning of the year and warned that the death toll was likely to
rise in coming months.

Two people have been infected in the capital of Antananarivo, one of
them dying, and health workers have mounted a pest control campaign
through slum areas around the city.

The health ministry said 200 households had been 'disinfected' this
month, adding that those who had contact with the infected had been
given antibiotics in a bid to arrest the spread the disease.

The World Health Organization last week said 40 people had died as a
result of plague, which was first identified in August.

Plague is spread by fleas and mostly affects rats, but humans can also
contract the disease if they are bitten by a disease-carrying flea.

The bubonic form prompts swelling of the lymph node, but can be
treated with antibiotics.

The pneumonic version, affecting the lungs, can be spread from person
to person through coughing and can kill within 24 hours.

The situation in Madagascar is all the more worrying because of a high
level of resistance to insecticides targeting fleas, the United
Nations health agency said.
In Ankasina, a slum outside Antananarivo, the family of the young
woman who died from the plague said they have been stigmatised by the
community.

According to Bernadette Rasoarimanana, the mother of the deceased
woman, community members have been giving them 'dirty looks' since the
death of her daughter.

Residents of the poor and overcrowded slum speak of squalid
conditions, infested with rats, increasing the risk of infection.

'Our neighbourhood is really dirty and has been neglected by the state
for a long time,' she said.

Plague often breaks out in the vast island nation, and is usually at
its worst between October and March.

The last case of plague in the capital was ten years ago, said
Christophe Rogier, of the island's Institut Pasteur.

'It is possible that the plague continued to survive in Antananarivo
for ten years without touching humans,' with the virus restricted to
its rat population, he said.

'Rats are a natural reservoir of the plague, and they also survive the plague.'

According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the country
has recorded on average 500 cases of plague every year since 2009.

The Black Death, otherwise known as the bubonic plague, is estimated
to have killed some 25million people across Europe in the Middle Ages.

(Photo: Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor)

The Central Bank of Nigeria, has announced a new official

previously.

Announcing the new exchange rate at the apex bank's Monetary Policy
Committee meeting in Abuja, the Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin
Emefiele said the devaluation of the Naira against the dollar is to
strengthen the Nigerian currency in the face of the falling
international oil price. He called on the Federal government and the

passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, which has been pending
passage for the past two years.

Pelé Back In Hospital Suffering From A Urinary Infection

Pelé was taken to hospital on Monday with an urinary infection, it was
reported in Brazil. It is the second time in two weeks that he has
been admitted for treatment.

The 74-year old former Brazil player entered the Albert Einstein
hospital in São Paulo but officials there released only a brief
statement with no details about his condition.

He had an operation at the same hospital on 12 November to remove
kidney stones and was discharged on 15 November.

Pelé won three World Cups as a player - in 1958, 1962 and 1970 - and
has also been named football player of the 20th century by Fifa.

Outrage Across US Over Ferguson Ruling

Thousands of people rallied in US cities including Los Angeles and New
York to protest a grand jury's decision not to indict a white police
officer who killed an unarmed black 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri.

Gunshots rang out and police lobbed tear gas at an angry crowd in
suburban St. Louis after the grand jury decision was announced late on
Monday.

Angry protesters overran barricades and taunted police in Ferguson,
with some chanting "murderer" and others throwing rocks and bottles,
as police car windows were smashed and protesters tried to set
vehicles ablaze.

Officers responded by firing what authorities said was smoke and
pepper spray into the crowd, as some in the crowd tried to stop others
from taking part in the violence.

Activists had been planning to protest even before the nighttime
announcement that officer Darren Wilson would not be charged in the
shooting death of Michael Brown on August 9.

Wilson shot Brown 12 times according to evidence presented to the
grand jury, with witness reports differing as to whether and when
Brown had his hands raised.

In New York City marchers chanting "Black lives matter" snarled
traffic on Broadway through Times Square.

In Chicago, demonstrators walked up Lake Shore Drive carrying banners
that read "Justice for Mike Brown".

Police in Ferguson used smoke canisters and trucks to force waves of
violent protesters down the street away from the police building soon
after sporadic gunshots were heard. Flames from a burning car rose
into the night sky.

Whistles pierced the air as some of the hundreds of protesters tried
to keep the peace, shouting, "Don't run, don't run."

Police who formed a wall of clear riot shields outside the precinct
were pelted with bottles and cans as the crowd surged up and down the
street immediately after authorities said the grand jury had voted not
to indict Wilson.

"Murderers, you're nothing but murderers," protesters in the crowd
shouted. One woman, speaking through a megaphone said, "Stinking
murderers."

Dozens of police and military vehicles were poised for possible mass
arrests not far from the stretch of Ferguson streets that saw the
worst of the rioting after Wilson shot Brown in August.

"They need to feel the pain these mothers feel at the (expletive)
cemetery," shouted Paulette Wilkes, 40, a teacher's assistant who was
in the crowd at the police department.

A smaller, calmer crowd of about three dozen protesters gathered
outside the courthouse where the grand jury had met. In that crowd, a
white woman held a sign that read: "Black Lives Matter." Many of the
protesters looked stunned.

"That's just how the justice system works - the rich are up there and
the poor are down here," said Antonio Burns, 25, who is black and
lives in the Ferguson area. The police "think they can get away with
it," Burns said.

A handful of Amnesty International volunteers in bright vests tried to
maintain the peace.

UNIJOS Shut Over Students' Protests

Authorities of the University of Jos have closed the institution indefinitely.

The closure followed the continuation of the students protest on
Tuesday, which they started on Monday.

The students had embarked on a peaceful protest to demand a reduction
in school fees and the abolition of development and other levies.

The protest took a more dangerous turn on Tuesday as the students
blocked a major highway, preventing motorists from passing in front
the campus.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youths and Students
Matters, Mr. Jude Imagwe, has called for restraints on both sides.

In a statement by the university's Registrar, Mr. Jilli Dandam, in Jos
on Tuesday, the school said the directive was to stave off further
protest and to protect lives and property in the school.

The students were also asked to vacate their halls of residence before 2pm.

The statement read, "On Monday November 24, the students of the
University of Jos embarked on peaceful demonstration against certain
issues.

"Management met and issued a release, assuring the students and the
university community that some of the issues raised by the students
were nothing but mere rumours that had no basis. However certain steps
were taken to address all the grievances including shifting the second
semester examination by one week and the setting up of a committee to
look into other issues.

"This morning, Tuesday, November 25, the students mobilised themselves
and blocked the Bauchi Road and set tyres on fire.

"In order to avoid further escalation of the situation, the management
met this morning and decided that the school be closed down until
further notice. Students are therefore directed to vacate their
hostels on or before 2pm."

Woman Gives Birth To Quadruplets After 18 years of Childlessness

Glory be to God. A 44 year old woman named Clara Dominique, who had
been childless for 18 years, was delivered of quadruplets last Sunday.

The quadruplets are three girls and a male. They were delivered at the
Graceland Medical Centre in Benin City, Edo State.

According to The Nation,
Mrs Clara who got married in 1996, said it was God's gracethat kept
her and her hubby through the trials and tribulations of
childlessness.

She said due to the childlessness problem, she refused to keep friends.

"I am happy that my husband and I were able to stay together to this
day to witness the blessings of the Lord. My husband has been
encouraging me that God will do it for us. My husband never
contemplated driving me away.

I was happy when the scan showed it was four. Sometimes I think of how
I will carry the four of them. I have not seen somebody delivered four
babies. It was not easy for me to carry the pregnancy. At a time the
weight of the pregnancy was too much for me.

I was the one dedicating children at our church every last Sunday of
the month. I was the first to visit anybody that I knew that gave
birth so that I can give them what I have. I am not the jealous type.

It was my husband's cousins that tried to take the matter up but my
husband stopped them. My parents were also there to encourage us. That
was what kept us together because the family pressure was not there.
They knew we were Christians and nobody could penetrate my husband and
I."

One of the Graceland Medical Centre doctors, Dr. Oni Samson, said the
babies were delivered through cesarean section.

"You don't expect a woman that is having multiple births to do that
through the vaginal. This is the first time we had quadruplets in this
hospital. The children are okay. The ante-natal was uneventful. They
are still under care for them to be stabilized." -she said.

Catholic Archbishop Blasts Reps For Jumping National Assembly Gate

The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Rev Alfred Martins, on Monday
expressed disgust at members of House of Representatives who jumped
over the National Assembly gate.

Rev Alfred Martins told News Agency of Nigeria that;

"It gives us a lot of concern that the officials of the National
Assembly have to climb the fence in order to arrive at what is
supposed to be a hallowed chamber.

"It's, indeed, a disgrace to the whole nation; it's a real disgrace
to the whole process of governance as represented in the legislative
arm of government.

"And I think that whatever it is that lead to it should not have
happened at all because it doesn't give us confidence that the
security forces are going to get right the whole process of elections
that are forthcoming next year.

"Legislators should recognise their dignity as legislators, and
therefore whatever it is that is disagreement among them should not go
to such an extent.

"They are representing the whole nation as well as individual citizens
within Nigeria.

"And herefore, whatever their disagreements are they should not in any
way let it go to this kind of extent that we saw. I think that, that
portends a lot of danger for the nation."
