Al-Shabab Names New Leader

Somalia's Islamist group al-Shabab has named Ahmad Umar as successor
to former leader Ahmed Abdi Godane, who was killed in a US air strike.

The group announced the move in an online statement, vowing to take
revenge for Godane's death.

Somalia's authorities earlier put the country on alert for possible
retaliatory attacks by al-Shabab.

The alert came as the US confirmed the death of Godane in air strikes
south of Mogadishu on Monday night.

Little is known about Ahmad Umar, who is also known as Abu Ubaidah.

Abu Mohammed, one of al-Shabab's commanders, said the decision to
appoint him was unanimous.
In a statement, al-Shabab also warned: "Avenging the death of our
scholars and leaders is a binding obligation on our shoulders that we
will never relinquish nor forget no matter how long it takes."

"By the permission of Allah, you will surely taste the bitter
consequences of your actions."

The announcement of the new leader came just minutes after al-Shabab
themselves confirmed the death of Godane.

Earlier on Saturday, Somali National Security Minister Kalif Ahmed
Ereg said old reporters: "Security agencies have obtained information
indicating that al-Shabab is now planning to carry out desperate
attacks against medical facilities, education centres and other
government facilities."

Mr. Ereg "congratulated the Somali people" on Godane's death, adding:
"The security forces are ready to counter their attacks and we call on
people to help the security forces in standing against violent acts."

AFCON Qualifier: Congo Beat Super Eagles 3-2

The Red Devils of Congo Brazzaville have defeated the Nigerian Super
Eagles to clinch the maximum three points in a first leg match of the
African Cup of Nations qualifier match played at the UJ Esuene Stadium
Calabar.

The African champions could not maintain the lead against the
Congolese side Afe Ambrose netted-in the first goal of the game in the
14th minute of play in the Saturday's match.

However, the Red Devils came back three minutes later with an
equaliser from Prince Oniangue at the 17th minute.

Ahmed Musa could have doubled the lead in the 26th minute, as Oboabona
played in the winger, who was through on goal but mixed the chance.

It got better for the visitors just before the half-time break, as
Thiery Bifouma played a neat one-two with Litingu, before firing past
Austin Ejide.

Back to the field with a 1-3 deficit, the Super Eagles tried to level
up, but a 53rd-minute goal by Thiery Bifouma set the visitors further
ahead of the Eagles with a hope of getting the three points in the
game that many Nigerians had expressed optimism of winning.

The African champions continued to impress and Eddy Onazi came close
to reducing the lead three minutes later but the midfielder's long
range effort flew inches wide of the upright woodwork.

The home side should have pulled one back in the 83rd minute but
Igiebor blasted over from 12-yards out with only Massa to beat.

However, they did reduce the deficit in the 89th minute as substitute
Gbolahan Salami fired home from inside the six-yard box.

2-3 it ended and it was enough for Congo Brazzaville to take the day.
It was an impressive victory for them as they go level on three points
with South Africa.

Help, A Blogger Is Threatening Me --Shirley Igwe

Former Delta soap model and Governor Rochas Okorocha's Principal
Prococol Officer, Shirley Igwe has been able to keep her name off the
gossip columns, not only by living a low profile life or staying off
controversial waters but also making sure she keeps her private life
secret.

But it seems all that may soon end as a blogger, according to the
actress, is on her trail and ready to do some damage to her good
image.

Igwe who spoke to Potpourri said the purported blogger claims to work
with Nigeriafilms.com and goes by the name Austin. He has been
bugging me to grant him an interview but I haven't had time to give
him any audience. Just days ago he reached me on Twitter and
threatened to do a negative story on me. His exact words were:
"Now, you won't answer me but when I do a negative story on you, you
will know how far", said Shirley who was utterly disgusted by the
development.

"He didn't do it just once, he repeated it many times and has been
repeating it consistently now. I don't know what negative story he can
do on me but I am well aware how far these kind of bloggers can go to
fabricate stories. I have been hearing about it and now somebody is
trying to make me a victim", she said.

Shirley Igwe was appointed by Governor Rochas Okorocha, last year, as
his Principal Protocol Officer, after the sacking of another actress,
Sylvanus Nkiru, who held the position of Special Assistant on Lagos
Affairs.

Maradona Steals Show From Pope

Pope Francis normally has no competition for attention when he is in a
room but it was different on Monday when another larger-than-life
Argentine - soccer great Diego Maradona - attended a Papal
event,Al-Arabiyareports.

Maradona was among some 400 people who attended a special Papal
audience for players and organisers of a charity match that was being
played on Monday night in Rome to promote peace and inter-religious
cooperation.

The Pope read an address to the participants in the Vatican's large
audience hall and then each of them filed past the pontiff to greet
and have their picture taken with the leader of the world's
approximately 1.2 billion Roman Catholics.

Maradona, who led Argentina to World Cup victory in 1986 and played
for Italian side Napoli, sat in the front row waiting his turn to
greet the Pope.

As the participants walked down the steps of the stage to return to
their seats many of them stopped to greet Maradona and have their
pictures taken with him immediately afterwards.

When his turn came to greet the Pope, Maradona chatted with his
compatriot longer than most of the others and gave him a light
blue-and-white jersey with his Argentine national team number - 10 -
and the name Francisco on it.

Woman Spends £130,000 To Look Like Drawing

A hair stylist obsessed with having 'boobs like beach balls' has spent
hundreds of thousands of pounds to look like a drawing of herself.
Krystina Butel has spent the past 15 years paying for surgery to get
bigger boobs and lips - as well as having Botox, a teeth-whitening
procedure and semi-permanent make-up all in an attempt to look like
her caricature, according to odditycentral.com.

The 30-year-old became obsessed with an over-the-top cartoon of
herself drawn during a holiday in Ibiza when she was 15. Since that
time, Krystina has done everything she can to resemble the image. The
salon owner from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, said: "When I saw the
caricature for the first time on holiday, I was jealous of it.

"She was so glamorous. She was everything that I wanted to be. It was
like she was holding the carrot out to me, showing me what I could
be."

Having already blown a fortune on realising her dream, Krystina has no
plans to stop now and wants to have an eyebrow lift, bum implants as
well as further breast augmentations, more Botox, fillers and lip
implants so she can resemble the artwork even more.

"I can always rely on my caricature to show me what I need to do next.
I never think that I'm done for good with my plastic surgery. She
shows me that there's never enough."

Krystina, who described herself as a "tomboy" with no interest in her
appearance when she was growing up, only started to pay attention to
the way she looked when she started working as a hairdresser at 14.

But it was when she was 15 that a simple drawing of herself changed
her life forever.

"When I saw the caricature for the first time,I was so happy, I knew
exactly what I wanted to be. I wanted to look like that cartoon.

"I felt envious of it and I got this urgent feeling in me. I wanted to
look like that right now. I adored how over-the-top she looked and how
done-up she was. I loved her massive boobs and tiny waist. I loved her
eyes, hair and lips too.

"I liked the whole thing. It was as if the artist had seen the
potential in me, what I could be. He showed me what I could be if I
pushed myself to the limit."

When she returned to Britain, Krystina started wearing more make-up
and topped up her tan using sunbeds. After finally earning enough
money for a boob job, she upped her already-ample 32DD breasts to a
whopping 34FF - and she was already planning to increase them by the
time she was discharged.

Just two years later, Krystina got a second £4,000 boob job taking her
to a 36GG. She would go on to have another three breast augmentations
costing more than £16,000 to get her to her current 36K bra size. And
she wants them even bigger.

She said: "I definitely want more boob jobs. I want to go as big as I
can go and I haven't got any cap on the size. I want them to look like
beach balls strapped on to my chest like they do in the picture."

Spending hundreds on lip injections and Botox every month, the surgery
tally soon started to mount up and now regularly undergoes
teeth-whitening, semi-permanent make-up tattooing, eyelash and hair
extensions in addition to using sunbeds. Her current splurge comes in
at an eye-watering £133,900 to become the mirror-image of her beloved
caricature - and she admits she gets a buzz out of it.

She said: "The feeling before surgery is like Christmas Eve to me. I
love the sensation of being put to sleep - it's heavenly. I know I'm
going to wake up afterwards and see something new in my body. For me,
it's about getting closer to my dream."

Madonna Mocks Ex-Boyfriend For Being Poor

She has already had a crack at Lady Gaga and ex-husband Guy Ritchie in
leaked song lyrics from her upcoming album. Now, American singer
Madonna is slamming ex-boyfriend Brahim Zaibat on another new track,
titledUnapologetic B***h.

According toThe Sun, her 26-year-old ex (they split in 2013 after a
three-year relationship) appears to be on the receiving end of some
rather cruel jibes on the song.

Apparently, Madonna slams Zaibat's sexual prowess, and mocks his lack
of wealth (that's a bit harsh). The song contains the lyrics:I know
you'd like it if I stayed home and cried. But that ain't gonna happen,
here's the reason why: When we did it, I'll admit it, wasn't
satisfied.

Another line boasted:I'm popping bottles that you can'teven afford.
I'm throwing parties and you won't get in the door.
Madonna ends with a rant against her former lover with the line:You
know you never really know how much your bulls**t cost me, but f**k
you.

In happier days, Madonna reportedly said in 2012 that dating a younger
man fulfilled her in "many ways."

She said then, "I didn't choose to, you know, I didn't, like, write
down on a piece of paper I'm now going to have a relationship with a
younger man. That's just what happened. You see, that's the romantic
in me. I just met someone that I cared for, and this happened to be
his age.

"I don't want to live my life on my own. I love being a mother. My
children fill me up in many ways, and inspire me in many ways, but I
need a partner in my life and I think most people feel that way. I've
never really lived a conventional life, so I think it's quite foolish
for me or anyone else to start thinking that I am going to start
making conventional choices."

Who is Madonna?

Born August 16, 1958, Madonna Louise Ciccone is an American
singer-songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. She achieved popularity
by pushing the boundaries of lyrical content in mainstream popular
music and imagery in her music videos, which became a fixture on MTV.

Madonna is known for reinventing both her music and image, and for
retaining a standard of autonomy within the recording industry. Music
critics have acclaimed her musical productions which have also been
known to induce controversy. Often referred to as the "Queen of Pop,"
she is cited as an influence among other artists around the world.

Madonna and her greatest achievements

A quick look back at 10 of the greatest achievements of Madonna's
career may help to motivate the aging star:

• She's the most successful dance artist in music history: Outdoing
even the late master Michael Jackson, Madonna has had a plethora of
success with her dancing prowess, as well as her music. Her
choreography has been replicated and adored by many fans and fellow
dancers, and teaching moves from her famous dances have become a prime
feature of the Hard Candy Fitness Studio (of which she is the
co-proprieter). It recently celebrated a Toronto opening (the first in
Canada), with Madonna herself attending the opening ceremonies. The 11
International Dance Music Awards, gained within a timeframe of 10
years, that Madonna has won, and the numerous others she has been
nominated for, all attest to her dancing genius.

• She's spawned a huge number of chart-topping singles: With twelve
number one singles to top the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, and the
Guinness World Record for the most number one singles in the UK,
Madonna has been a force to be reckoned with in the music world. She
also holds the number four spot for most number one singles in the US,
with the only female artists to outdo her being Rihanna and Mariah
Carey.

• She's a cultural icon: There is hardly a household to be entered
that hasn't heard of Madonna, be it for her dancing career, music, or
movie appearances. She's the undisputed Queen of Pop, the 'Material
Girl,' and she travels with an air of equal parts controversy and
reverence wherever she goes.

• She's a Rock n' Roll hall of famer: Her long career of chart-topping
music landed her as a Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame inductee in 2008.
Inspiring many current chart-topping artists, such as Lady Gaga, Pink,
and Beyonce, she set the industry standard for stage performance,
songwriting and imaginative costumes, paving the way for today's pop
celebrities. It could be argued that her risqué cone brassieres
single-handedly spawned a new generation of sexually daring
performers.

• She's a movie star: A two-time Golden Globe Award winner, she has
been established as a multimedia powerhouse, and her acclaimed
performance as the lead role of Eva Peron in 1996′s Evita launched her
film to superstardom. Apart from starring in feature films, the
'Material Girl' also holds the record for most MTV Video Music Awards,
with 20 awards won and other 50 nominations.

FIFA Completes Probe Into 2018, 2022 World Cup

FIFA ethics committee investigator Michael Garcia has completed his
probe into the controversial bidding process for the 2018 and 2022
World Cups, awarded to Russia and Qatar respectively, and handed in a
350-page report.

The report, which has not been made public, will be submitted to the
ethics committee's adjudicatory chamber, headed by German judge
Hans-Joachim Eckert, to decide on whether any wrongdoing was
committed, soccer's governing body said on Friday.

FIFA said they could not comment on when Eckert might reach his decision.

(Photo: Fifa president Joseph Blatter AFP)

During the course of the year-long investigation, Garcia and his
deputy Cornel Borbely interviewed "more than 75 witnesses and compiled
a record that, in addition to audio recordings from interviews,
includes more than 200,000 pages of relevant material," FIFA said.

"The report sets forth detailed factual findings; reaches conclusions
concerning further action with respect to certain individuals;
identifies issues to be referred to other FIFA committees; and makes
recommendations for future bidding processes."

The hosting rights for the two tournaments were awarded simultaneously
by FIFA's executive committee in Zurich in 2010 after a turbulent
campaign.

Spain/Portugal, Belgium/Netherlands and England had also been bidding
for 2018 while United States, Australia, South Korea and Japan had bid
for 2022.

The executive committee which took the decision was reduced to 22
members instead of the usual 24 after two of them were suspended by
the ethics committee one month before the vote.

Nigerian Amos Adamu was banned for breaches of five articles of FIFA's
ethics code including one on bribery and Reynald Temarii of Tahiti for
breaching articles on general conduct and loyalty.

The case followed allegations by The Sunday Times that the pair
offered to sell their votes to undercover reporters posing as
lobbyists for an American consortium.

FIFA said that all bidding nations were interviewed during the investigation.

Borbely took responsibility obtaining information from the U.S and
Russia as Garcia is a national of the former and was barred from
visiting the latter.

Shortly before this year's World Cup in Brazil, the Sunday Times
reported that some of the "millions of documents" it had seen linked
payments by former FIFA executive committee member Mohamed Bin Hammam
to officials to win backing for Qatar's World Cup bid.

Bin Hammam has not commented on his involvement since he was banned
for life from soccer in 2012 and Qatar has denied all allegations of
corruption.

Qatar has also been criticised for its alleged treatment of migrant
workers in the construction industry.

Flood Ravages Orlu Community, Submerges Houses At Umunna

The contractor handling Uzoubi-Umuna Orlu road, Imo State Ebi-hitech
Construction Company, Bishop Oamen recently escaped lynching as angry
youths of the community attacked him over the erosion menace that
struck the place, yesterday after the heavy down pour.

The contractor who is from Edo state is said to have caused the flood
that swept away about four houses, and shops over what was termed
"inexperienced job" by Bishop Oamen, Director General of Ebi-hitech
construction company.

Trumpeta reports that the contractor started work on the road for the
past 3 days without initial consultation to the monarch, youth leaders
or the villagers to ascertain the major ways of combating the
occurrence of such natural disaster. Unfortunately on Wednesday,
Bishop Oamen went to the site with his 2 machines and cleared the sand
blocks the villagers and residents of the area used to check erosion
incase of such down pour. Unfortunately, during process rain started.

However, the victims of the erosion managed to escape the flooding to
avoid being drowned, but their property worth millions naira and their
livestock were destroyed, while building collapsed due to the heavy
downpour.

Meanwhile, the youths of the community who were affected by the flood
furiously wanted to descend on the contractor for his ignorance but
were stopped by the youth leader of the community Chief Columbus
Nwadike. Narrating the situation to Trumpeta, Chief Nwadike regretted
the inconvenience of the erosion, stating that the Governor Okorocha
should not be blamed because he has good intentions to construct the
roads of Imo state for the good of all, blame should go to some of the
contractors with little or no experience in construction work. The
youth leader have calmed the angry youths and urged the contractor, to
look for a suitable means of preventing further occurrence. He urged
him to do so before the commencement of another down pour to avert
more disaster

Later, speaking in the palace of the traditional ruler where the
community took the contractor to, the monarch, H.R.H, Eze B.C Okereke
frowned at the ugly incident and blamed the contractor for commencing
work in an area without getting in touch with inhabitants of the area.
Eze Okereke however pleaded with the youths and victims to see the
occurrence as a sacrifice and not to make war with the contractor.

Some of the flood victims whose shops, houses and poultry were
destroyed lamented that before the contractor started the work, they
tried to educate him and let him know the topography of the area but
he refused to listen to them. They lamented why the Governor did not
give the job to the first contracting company that did almost the
roads of Orlu metropolis which people were satisfied with.

"The only construction company we feel that would have done the work
effectively is JP contracting company. He knows our (Umuna) topography
and Orlu."

Man Nabbed For Using Charm To Lure Married Women For Sex In Imo

Onyewuchi Okezuo is now cooling his heels in Security operatives net,
Owerri for allegedly engaging in adulterous acts using charm to lure
married women to escapade.

Reports revealed that Onyewuchi who hails from Umuolo in Umuokanne,
Ohaji Egbema local government of Imo state was accused of mysteriously
snatching the wife of a Government Liaison Officer from the area who
happens to be his uncle by the help of talisman.

Speaking to Trumpeta reporter in an interview, the Government Liaison
Officer GLO whose name is withheld hinted that the accused has been
visiting his house in the past and pretending to be a good brother
without him knowing he has ulterior motive.

The GLO revealed that luck ran against Onyewuchi when information came
to him that his wife and mother of three children has been kidnapped
by his cousin (Onyewuchi). The man said he contacted Imo Security
Network Operatives to help in the search of her abducted wife only to
discover her in a sister community where Onyewuchi kept her for his
own selfish reason.

During interrogation by the security men, Onyewuchi confessed that he
constantly made love to the woman (her uncle's wife) but however
begged for forgiveness and promised to be a good man or better still
be born again.

Onyewuchi also disclosed that he is a servant of a deity known as
Amadioha and posses several powers and charms which he uses to lure
married women to bed.

He hinted that the god that he is serving are no longer happy with him
for all the atrocities that he has committed in life and which that
may have forced them to turn their back on him to enable him to suffer
for his sins.

The woman in question while making her own statement confirmed that
Onyewuchi made love to her on several occasions but how she was
trapped is still a source of mystery.

"I don't know what he used on me and how he got me.

"He actually pretended he was going to help me out of trouble but not
knowing that he was looking for an opportunity to seize me and have
marathon sex with me regularly" the woman confessed.

The special adviser to the Governor on security matters Hon Ugochukwu
Onyeukwu who confirmed the story said proper investigation will be
conducted on the matter.

He added that it is an abomination for some one to sleep with his
brother's wife.

Alleging that several criminal reports and complains have been made
against the young man called Onyewuchi by people from his area, he
advised parents to be very careful on the kind of people they give
access to their houses.

He further warned that anybody caught in any criminal act will never
go unpunished.

Police Arrest Imo APC Chairman, Eke Over Advert On Purported Court Judgments Against Ilomuanya

Detectives from the Police headquarters in Abuja have arrested and
detained the chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC Imo state
chapter, Hilary Ekeh in Owerri.

Trumpeta had reported last Thursday that the said Ekeh is in trouble
and may be wanted by police in connection with advertorial he authored
claiming that a Calabar High Court had allegedly delivered judgement
against Eze Cletus Ilomuanya in 2006. Following APC state chairman's
claims, Ilomuanya's counsel petitioned the Inspector General of Police
to investigate and source how he obtained the purported judgement.

Trumpeta on Wednesday morning observed a minor scene at the entrance
of Concorde Hotel, Owerri when plain-clothed operatives suspected to
be from Abuja sneaked into the state to pick Eke. After laying ambush
for the APC chairman, Eke was trapped in Concorde Hotel when he
attempted to leave after a meeting.

At the gate, the operatives requested his attention and placed him
under arrest immediately. Passersby, especially APC sympathizers and
apologists off the state government made spirited efforts to have him
of the hook but the policemen refused, but insisted he was under
arrest and must join them to Abuja where the petition was sent to.

Efforts by Trumpeta correspondent who monitored the development to
join the police to their next destination was unsuccessful. But the
newspaper learnt that Eke was taken to the criminal Investigation
Bureau of the state police command where the policemen had initially
reported for necessary documentation before transferring the
politician to Abuja for further investigation.

As at the time of going to press, it was not ascertained if they
eventually made the trip to Abuja. Correspondent reliably learnt Eke
was detained. Calls put across to the State Police Command spokesman
Andrew Enwerre, a DSP was not through.

However, uncomfirmed reports have it that the APC chairman may been
granted bail later because of his position and asked to report on
September 15, 2014 to produce true certified copy of the said Calabar
Court judgement he told the policemen was in public domain when asked
to make statement how he procured the document

In a petition signed by O.A. Obinwe SAN, Ilomuanya's counsel, dated
19th August 2014 and addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Eze
Ilomuanya asked for investigation of the APC state chairman, Eke over
alleged forgery and uttering-criminal defamation.

"The subject of this petition Dr Hilary Eke, took out two
advertisements in the "Daily Sun" Newspaper of Friday August 15, 2014
at page 60 and This Day Newspaper of Sunday August 17, 2014 at page
101 respectively where he made grave, malicious, and unfounded
allegations against our client. One of the documents relied upon in
the publication is a purported "judgment extracts" of the High Court
of Cross-Rivers State allegedly delivered on 13th August 1990 (please
see both publications) marked ANNEXURES A and B.

"It is our instruction that the alleged "judgement extracts" is a
forgery by Dr Hilary Eke and his confederates for the sole purpose of
tarnishing the reputation of our client.

We therefore call on you to order for an investigations into the
alleged "judgement extracts" which is the product of a heinous
criminal act with the view to bringing the gentlemen in question to
justice", the petition added.

Rev. Chris Oyakhilome has expressed anger over media reports in which
his wife accused him of adultery in a divorce suit in London.

Rev. Oyakhilome said yesterday that the allegation was wicked,
malicious and was intended to bring his person and the Christ Embassy
Church to public ridicule.

According to a public notice advertorial signed by a legal

Kemi Pinheriro warned media houses to desist from further publication
of stories which were false and damaging of "our client's reputation
and the church", stating that they could embark on appropriate legal
machinery with a view to protecting their client's reputation and that

Health Benefits Of Walnuts

Walnuts belong to the tree nut family, along with Brazil nuts,
cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, and pistachios.
Each has its own unique nutritional profile.

One-quarter cup of walnuts, for instance, provides more than 100
percent of the daily recommended value of plant-based omega-3 fats,
along with high amounts of copper, manganese, molybdenum, and biotin.
Some of the most exciting research about walnuts includes:

Heart health

Walnuts contain the amino acid l-arginine, which offers multiple
vascular benefits to people with heart disease, or those who have
increased risk for heart disease due to multiple cardiac risk factors.

If you struggle with herpes, you may want to avoid or limit walnuts,
as high levels of arginine can deplete the amino acid lysine, which
can trigger herpes recurrences.

Walnuts also contain the plant-based omega-3 fat alpha-linolenic acid
(ALA), which is anti-inflammatory and may prevent the formation of
pathological blood clots. Research shows that people who eat a diet
high in ALA are less likely to have a fatal heart attack and have a
nearly 50 percent lower risk of sudden cardiac death.

Eating just four walnuts a day has been shown to significantly raise
blood levels of heart-healthy ALA,3 and walnut consumption supports

Man Arraigned For Claiming Paternity Of Ex-Lover's Child

(Photo: Tinubu Magistrate's Court)

A 29-year-old man, Toheeb Musa, was on Thursday arraigned before the
Tinubu Magistrate's Court, Lagos Island, for abduction.

He was also accused of laying claim to the paternity of a child whose
mother was his ex-lover.

It was gathered that Musa used to be in a relationship with the mother
of the child, Azeezat Adeshina, before she gave birth. After they
broke up, Adeshina moved on with someone else.

She later got pregnant and Musa felt that the baby must have been a
product of their previous love relationship.

It was further learnt that Musa allegedly abducted Adeshina and her
child and took them to Offa, Kwara State.

The Investigating Police Officer, Ganiyu Taiwo, told the court that
Musa had taken Adeshina to a native doctor's house in Offa.

The charges read, "That you, Toheeb Musa, on August 29, 2014, at about
17.00hrs, on Akasoro Street, Isale Eko, Lagos Island, Lagos, in the
Lagos Magisterial District, did abduct one Azeezat Adeshina with
intent to commit felony and thereby committed an offence contrary to
and punishable under Section 266 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,
2011.

"That you, Toheeb Musa, on the same date, time and place, in the
aforesaid Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner that
can cause breach of peace by claiming to be the father of Azeezat
Adeshina's baby and thereby committed an offence contrary to and
punishable under Section 166 (D) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,
2011."

Musa pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Counsel to the defendant applied to the magistrate for bail in liberal
terms, but the prosecutor suggested that the bail conditions be made a
bit stringent considering the nature of the offence.

The magistrate, L.A. Owolabi, granted the suspect bail in the sum of
N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate ruled that one of the sureties must be a blood relation
and must be over 40 years old.

"The sureties must be resident in Lagos with verifiable addresses and
means of livelihood. They must also show evidence of tax payment to
the Lagos State Government," he added.

The case was adjourned till September 24, 2014.

Company Named Isis Changes Its Name

A mobile payment company named Isis just rebranded.
The reasons are obvious. The company announced Wednesday that it will
now go by Softcard to avoid associations with the Islamic militant
group responsible for the beheadings of two American journalists,
among many other atrocities.

The mobile wallet venture, which is backed by T-Mobile, Verizon and
AT&T, first announced its planned name change in July, but waited
until now to reveal its new moniker.

"However coincidental, we have no desire to share a name with this
group and our hearts go out to those affected by this violence," CEO
Michael Abbot wrote. "Today, I'm pleased to announce we will rebrand
the Isis Wallet to Softcard."

The switch is set to take place over the next few weeks, although some
aspects of the Isis name will take longer to remove. Nothing else
about the platform will change.

Abbott hopes Softcard will "become a category defining name," but the
rebranding may come at an unfortunate time. Apple's "iPhone 6," which
many expect to be announced next week, is widely rumored to include a
new mobile payment platform that could ramp up competition in the area
Softcard is so determined to define.

one Mrs. Eleojo Collins.

The accused, Temitope Onile, Nzurumike Nnanna, Danmusa Ochala and
Omotayo Oluwadamilola Akinro were arraigned on the charges of
negligence of duty between January 27 and 28, 2012.

Delivering his ruling, the Chairman of the six-man tribunal, Dr.
Jonathan Azubuike said, "For failure to see a patient as often as
his/her medical condition required, Onile is hereby suspended for
three months, Nnanna six months, Ochala six months, and Akinro six
months."

According to the charge sheet, the doctors were on call but failed to

Sierra Leone Declares 4 Day Ebola Lockdown

Sierra Leone - one of the countries worst hit by West Africa's Ebola
outbreak - has announced a four-day lockdown to try to tackle the
disease.

From 18 to 21 September people will not be allowed to leave their
homes, a senior official said.

The aim of the move is to allow health workers to isolate new cases to
prevent the disease from spreading further.

The outbreak has killed about 2,100 people in Sierra Leone, Liberia,
Guinea and Nigeria in recent months.

The World Health Organization announced on Friday that health workers
could be given vaccines as from November, when safety tests are
completed.

More than 20 health workers have lost their lives to the virus in
Sierra Leone since the start of the outbreak in March.

Last month Liberia sealed off a large slum in the capital Monrovia for
more than a week in an attempt to try to contain the virus.

The disease infects humans through close contact with infected
animals, including chimpanzees, fruit bats and forest antelope.

It then spreads between humans by direct contact with infected blood,
bodily fluids or organs, or indirectly through contact with
contaminated environments.

Bafana Pile Pressure On Eagles, Beat Sudan 3-0

Bafana Bafana are in the same group with Eagles, who will need to
score more than three goals in today's clash with Congo in Calabar.

After a goalless first half, the coach Shakes Mashaba Bafana-tinkered
side came back rejuvenated and scored three goals to now top the
group.

Substitute Sibusiso Vilakazi bagged a brace, while Bongani Ndulula
scored the third.

Ebola: Cameroon Quarantines 60 Nigerians

Due to the Ebola crisis that has claimed lives of seven Nigerians, the
Cameroonian government has quarantined 60 Nigerians in its South-West
region over the fear of the disease spreading to the country.

A report by a Cameroonian online newspaper, cameroon-info.net,said the
sixty Nigerians were quarantined in the Ekok, Ekondo, and Titi
communities in the country's South-West region close to the border
with Nigeria.

The country's Minister of Health, Dr. Lukong Bay, said that there
would be a restriction of movement of people from Nigeria and other
countries affected by the disease to Cameroon as from Tuesday,
September 2, 2014.

It was also stated in the report that the Nigerians would be released
after 21 days of surveillance.

The report said, "This is a new delight that perhaps the minister of
health has expected Tuesday afternoon in this region for a working
session with the persons responsible for the implementation of the
response plan on Ebola disease in the ports of Limbe and Tiko.

"As part of preventive measures against the epidemic in West Africa
with nearly 1,500 deaths already recorded, the South-West, which
borders with Nigeria, is considered one of the parts of the country
that require a closer monitoring."

After Surviving Ebola, Dennis Akagha Battles Social Stigma

Following an interview last week with Dennis Akagha who survived the
Ebola virus after losing his would-be wife, Justina Ejelonu, to the
deadly disease, the young man is still in the news. What is it this
time, you may ask?

Even as Dennis has been declared free of EDV, he is still a victim of
social stigmatisation. This has isolated him from the society since
the last couple of weeks as people still refuse to socialise with him,
making it difficult to get some of his daily needs. But the young man
is attracting positive international attention.

(Photo: Dennis Akagha and Late Justina Ejelonu)

His survival and humaneness displayed while nursing his Ebola stricken
spouse impressed many. Now, the international media and some agencies
are after him for interviews and social events after he exclusively
recounted his moving story to Vanguard last Saturday.

Denis was the fiance of Justina Ejelonu, the nurse at First Consultant
Hospital in Lagos who contracted the Ebola disease after attending to
Patrick Sawyer, the American-Liberian who wickedly brought the disease
to Nigeria.

Justina was a graduate nurse and was just employed by First Consultant.

She was two months pregnant and her first patient on her first day on
duty was Patrick Sawyer. She contracted the disease, suffered
miscarriage and died at the quarantine centre in Yaba, Lagos. Denis
attending to her while she was sick and even at the centre where she
suffered neglect.

He too caught the virus days later but was one of those who survived.

In another chat with Vanguard this week, Dennis lamented how he is
being stigmatised by friends, neighbours and customers adding that
living with the social stigma was frustrating.

"I am lonely and bored now, people don't come to me anymore. Even my
usual friends before the incidence, are keeping me at arm's length.
They don't believe I am free of the virus. I have never been so lonely
in life. Living with the social stigma is one terrible thing," Dennis
cried.

But he has become a much sought-after man by both international and
local media. According to a close source, CNN, Al-Jazeera, e-News
among others as well as local journalists desirous of getting
headlines are after him.

Agencies and donors have also established contacts with Dennis with
some of them offering one assistance or the other. Right now, Dennis
may be on a journey to a redefined person with some consolation.

As at press time, two international donors have indicated their
readiness to support Dennis both financially and morally. According to
a close source, the donors will assist him in making the dream of
immortalising late Justina come through. Dennis had recently said that
he would set up a non-for-profit organisation to immortalise his late
fiancee and also to champion the campaign on preventive measures
against Ebola virus.

While Dennis battles the emotional plague left by Ebola, Nigerians
particularly those who have been following the story rationalised that
lack of adequate care by medical personnel on Ebola patients could be
one of the reasons why patients run away from the isolation centers.

Joseph Adebambo, a Lagos-based dentist called on medical personnel to
rise up to the challenge to save lives.
"After reading the story in your paper (Saturday Vanguard) I was close
to tears. I want to believe Justina could have survived the crisis if
there was adequate care. To me, it seemed medical personal did not
have enough protective measures in going any extra-mile to do what
they are supposed to do," Adebambo said.

Kennie said:
This brave and compassionate young man's account of what goes on
inside the Yaba Ebola treatment facility seems to be the only
independent assessment of the condition inside there. Before now, all
the stories about the "great efforts" towards containing EVD are all
coming from Federal and LASG officials. The story gave an insight to
what is going on in the treatment center."
Grace Notibe reacted thus: "She passed through this mess in spite of
millions of naira (FG announced N1.9b) claimed to have been earmarked
and praises are being heaped on GEJ, FG, Onyebuchi, Fashola and LASG
for taking care of Ebola victims. There is God ooo"

"A touching story. Thank God for His mercies, your life was spared and
I believe God has a purpose for that. I praise God for you," another
reader said.

Joris Bronen in his comment posted online said:

"May God be praised, nothing can change our faith. God comes first in
our life. The death of his wife-to-be shows how careless Nigeria
doctors always act. They don't attend to patients promptly. The
American survived because they gave proper care to the Ebola patient.

B'Haram Allegation Against Me Baseless - Ihejirika

The immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen General Azubuike
Ihejika, on Friday warned that giving undue attention to frivolous and
baseless accusations could divert the attention of the country and her
security agencies from the challenge to eliminate the scourge of
terrorism in the country.

Ihejirika, who was reacting to claims by an Australia hostage
negotiator, Stephen Davies, that the insurgents mentioned him and a
former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sherrif, among the sponsors
of Boko Haram.

The former Army Chief made the comment while speaking at a meeting of
the Alumini Association of members of Regular Course 18 of the
Nigerian Defence Academy, at the National Defence College, Abuja.

Ihejirika said that the insurgents were making moves to exploit the
existing diversities in the country to achieve what they have not been
able to achieve through violence.

He said, "If this accusation was made in a country like US or UK, it
would not be discussed for one hour because they would wave it aside;
but they are exploiting our traditional fault lines, a
multi-religious, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and young democracy, so
what they have tried to do is aimed at achieving what they could not
achieve.

"Well, why have I chosen to talk at length; I have chosen to do this
because we cannot allow national security to be toyed with; the need
for security awareness in spite of the effort I put in at a time and
the effort being put by the current leadership of the Armed Forces,
the need for security awareness still persist. I want to further
advise that baseless, unfounded and frivolous allegations like this
have the capacity of diverting our attention, away from the main
problem."

Unresponsive Private Plane Crashes Off Jamaica

An unresponsive private plane has crashed in the sea off Jamaica,
officials on the island have said.
Major Basil Jarrett of the Jamaican Defence Force said the plane went
down about 14 miles (22 kilometres) north-east of Port Antonio.

Jamaican and US Coast Guard planes and ships are on their way to the scene.

The aircraft was due to fly to Naples, Florida, before it went off course.

The US had scrambled two fighter jets to investigate why the plane
failed to respond to air traffic control from 10:00 local time (14:00
GMT).

A North American air defence (Norad) spokesman said it was not
possible for the jet fighter pilots to see inside the plane before it
crashed as the windows were frosted or fogged over.

A tweet from Norad suggested the pilot or pilots could be unresponsive
due to "possible hypoxia".

A spokesman said the jets were launched at 11:30 local time (15:30 GMT).

The plane was flying at an altitude of 25,000 feet southbound over the
Caribbean Sea, approaching the north east point of Jamaica, when it
went off radar.

Earlier, the US Federal Aviation Administration said it has
co-operated with Cuba air traffic control in monitoring the plane,
despite the countries not having full diplomatic relations for more
than half a century.

The two passengers on board have been named as Larry Glazer, a real
estate developer from Rochester, New York, and his wife Jane.

The couple were both licensed pilots.

Fraudsters Parade Fake Girls On Facebook

Many users of Facebook will agree that they have, at one time or
another, received phoney messages from strange but attractive looking
ladies on the .social networking site.

While some people have been able to separate the scam mails from the
genuine ones, others have not been smart enough to know the
difference. The latter easily fall prey to the tactics of faceless con
men who hide beneath false identities to defraud them.

Pretending to be young ladies aged between 18 and 26 years, the
criminals often target men that are naturally drawn to pretty women.
Investigation shows that they always use freshly opened Facebook
accounts - the types that display one or two sensual pictures of a
woman and very few 'friends' - to bait their victims.

Having successfully 'wooed' their unsuspecting victim, they tactically
send short messages that begin with phrases, such as, 'How are you?'
and 'Can I be your friend?'

As soon as they receive a response, they move on to the next stage,
flirting with the victim before going on to squeeze as much money as
they can get from him.

It is not difficult to spot these fake 'girls' on Facebook by simply
observing certain similarities in their personal data. For instance,
their names are as unreal as their pictures look.

Imagine receiving a messages from a certain Franklin Ariel Cortez
Garcia who begins his love note by writing, "Hello, my name is
Precious. Please reply me so I can send my pictures to you through my
email address, mypreciousbabygal@ yahoo.com."

Another letter may read, "Hello, I just went through your profile and
I like what I see. I want to know you better please reply through my
email so we can know each other better. Waiting to see your mail."

Although Facebook tries to eliminate such fraudulent messages by
marking them as spam shortly after they have reached their victims,
some hapless persons may fall prey before such cleansing takes place.

It is important to note that beyond the tricks, the simple explanation
is that they are '419' men luring people into parting with their
hard-earned cash by operating fake Facebook accounts.

While the trend isn't peculiar to Nigeria, a US-based Facebook group
called Stop Nigerian 419 scams (Stomp out Scams)has been created to
help everyone "become aware of, recognize and avoid falling victim to
all types of Nigerian style scams, including romance, advance payment
and foreign lottery scams."

The good news is that Nigerians can avoid falling victim to these con
men by taking certain precautionary measures, such as activating the
privacy setting on their Facebook accounts and treating subsequent
requests for friendship, especially from persons they hardly know,
with suspicion.

The subject has been trending on social media with some victims of the
scams recounting their experiences. Lamenting the ugly trend,
@LODAFRIQ wrote, "I receive an average of two scam messages of this
type daily on Facebook. #fraudsters #yahooyahoo #ole #419 .

A certain Lorliam Shija says, "Lilia Princess Edson, Rosemary Ndadaye
,Angela Mpka..are the three 419 people that sent me seductive messages
last week." Also, Ben Ezemalu wrote, "All these 'girls' sending me
Facebook messages with e-mail addresses think I have never see a
pretty girl!"

Then @imuss added a note of warning, "Only 10 per cent of boys are
talking with girls on Facebook. The remaining 90 per cent are talking
with fake accounts".

How Romance With Gospel Singer, Sinach Crashed Pastor Chris Oyakhilome's Marriage

The messy divorce case of famous Nigerian Pastor, Chris Oyakhilome and
his estranged wife, Pastor Anita is no longer news. However the untold
story behind the divorce is what you may not
have heard before.

According to a member of Oyakhilome's Christ Embassy Church at Ikotun
Egbe Parish who spoke to an online news media on condition of
anonymity, it was the cleric's alleged unholy romance with Sinach, a
female Gospel singer with the Church that crashed his marriage.

"Pastor Chris' wife had been unhappy with his rumoured
affair with Sinach alongside other issues, while she was away running
the affair of the Church
abroad. In a bid to cover up his romance with sister Sinach, Pastor
(As they call Oyakhilome) quickly signed her to the "Love World"
record label and included her name among his traveling
crew. That automatically gave her the opportunity of travelling far
and wide with Pastor's entourage.

"Among other sisters in the Church, the manner in which Sinach got
favoured by Pastor was what fueled their romance rumour.

"As things would turn out, today Sinach is married while Pastor's home
is in trouble", stated the source.

Although Pastor Anita in her claims mentioned adultery amongst other
things as the reason she's filing the divorce
suit, one would beg to want to believe that the until Sinach finally
got married to her heartthrob,
Pastor Joseph, who is a senior Pastor with Christ Embassy; she was
often seen in the company
Pastor Chris. She travels with him everywhere he goes. At a time,
their closeness fueled a rumour
indicating that the two may be having an affair.

A few days ago, an online newspaper reported
the matrimonial crisis rocking the home of the charismatic Chris
Oyakhilome, the founder of
Believers' Love World Inc, widely known as Christ Embassy Church.

Use Ebola Survivors' Blood To Treat Others -WHO

The blood of patients who recover from Ebola should be used to treat
others, the World Health Organisation has announced.

West Africa is facing the largest Ebola outbreak in history and more
than 1,900 people have died.

A global group of experts have been meeting to assess the experimental
therapies that could contain Ebola.

The WHO also announced that Ebola vaccines could be used on the
frontline by November.

An assistant director general at WHO, Dr Marie Paule Kieny, said: "We
agreed that whole blood therapies may be used to treat Ebola virus and
all efforts must be invested to help infected countries to use them.

"There is a real opportunity that a blood derived product can be used
now and this can be very effective in terms of treating patients."

She said that it was the one positive point from so many people being infected.

"There are also many people now who have survived and are doing well,
they can provide blood to treat the other people who are sick."

NANS Names Jonathan Grand Commander Of Nigerian Students

The National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) has endorsed
President Goodluck Jonathan, naming him the Grand Commander of
Nigerian Students.

The title was bestowed on Mr Jonathan when a delegation of the Body,
led by senior special assistant on youth affairs, Jude Imagwe and NANS
president, Yinka Gbadebo, visited him.

Addressing the group, President Jonathan reiterated his commitment to
returning Nigerian universities to winning ways by ensuring they are
rated among the top in the world, stressing that the tertiary
institutions will not just be big in population but in quality as
well.

The President also stressed his commitment to free, fair and credible
elections. He said Nigeria would no longer become a laughing stock as
far as credible elections were concern.

Among the delegation were 10 former NANS presidents and eight former
nans Senate presidents, student union presidents in universities,
polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education.

The President thanked the students for the award and words of
encouragement which he said would spur his administration to do more.

Best Ways To Make Money Blogging

What's the link between making money from blogging and your daily life?

Close to a decade after the Wall Street meltdown, people are still
finding it tough to recover past losses and make ends meet. Fewer and
fewer of us can count on steady, lifelong employment, and for those
who are so fortunate, the salary and benefits (if any) are barely
enough to meet our basic needs.

Second job, anyone? In America, two income families are the norm, but
think of the havoc it wrecks on your daily life. You're so exhausted
by the time you get home from work, you barely have enough time and
energy to make dinner and help the kids out with their homework. Even
that becomes difficult if you work at more than one place, whether
evenings or on weekends.

The Internet has made blogging mainstream, to the point where there
may be over half a billion blogs online as you read this article.
While income generation is not the only reason (or even the best
reason) to blog, opportunities do exist for people to create
supplemental income via this activity.

If you are new to blogging, or have just recently started a blog,
congratulations! I hope your main motivation is to provide valuable
content for your readers, because that's how you will establish expert
status in your specialization (niche) in the long-term.

However, there is nothing wrong with making some extra money through
blogging, and several simple methods exist for getting the ball
rolling:

Google Adsense

Google Adsense might be the fastest and easiest way for a beginner to
start earning so-called passive income with a blog. As the name
implies, Adsense is a contextual advertising network that places
partner (business) ads on your website. It's easy to set up - a quick
copy and paste of some Adsense code and you're good to go!

Don't worry that your blog niche won't be able to draw quality ads to
your site. Google Adsense is one of the biggest networks on the Web,
so you should get a healthy enough list of clickable sites to attract
your readership.

Just make sure your content is of the highest quality.

Amazon associates

Amazon Associates is the long established in-house affiliate program
run by Seattle-based Amazon.com - the biggest online retailer in the
world today. It offers bloggers the chance to earn commissions (up to
8.5per cent) by advertising Amazon products on your website - provided
visitors click-through from your blog to Amazon.com and make a
purchase.

The one caveat about Associates is that it probably suits bloggers who
write about merchandising, retail products and shopping a fair bit.
Logically, it will help your performance if visitors arrive at your
website already predisposed to buying.

Create e-books

Regular blogging is the ideal training ground for creating e-books,
still one of the most popular forms of information products being sold
by online entrepreneurs today.

Consider your blogs as "free" information that you offer to readers to
demonstrate your expertise. With time, they become your fans and are
ready for more in-depth material. This is your opportunity to make
money - by presenting your e-books for sale alongside your free blog.

Just make sure that the e-book builds on your blog output - don't
simply rehash what they have already seen! After all, these people are
now paying customers and will get upset with old information. Later on
as you become more established and your archived material becomes more
extensive, poll your readers to see what topics they'd be interested
in learning more about and potentially what topics of e-books they'd
be interested in purchasing.

Notice that I avoided putting a specific dollar figure on the amount
you can make from blogging. It will come down to your work ethic, your
skills as a writer, your ability to generate targeted traffic, and
plain old good luck. It's a bit like baseball: everyone played it as a
kid, only a small fraction make it to college ball, an even smaller
number become professional, but only the cream of the crop make it to
the majors.

You have to decide where in the blogging "big leagues" you want to end up.

The reality is that as more and more people from all over the world
come online, the harder it will become to get attention and generate
income. As of February 20, 2014, according to their respective
websites, there were around 172 million Tumblr and 75.8 million
WordPress blogs. Blogger.com does not release statistics, but is said
to be the most popular blogging site.

That being said, there are countless success stories out there, and
the formula for success is surprisingly simple. It's just up to you to
get it done!

I Don't Need Special Treatment - IK Uche

Nigeria international, Ikechukwu Uche, has responded to claims made by
the Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, on Wednesday suggesting that he
wants to be begged and treated specially before playing for Nigeria.

The player who fell out of favour with Keshi during the 2013 Africa
Cup of Nations in South Africa responded Wednesday night via his
Twitter handle. The player tweeted a veiled response to Keshi's
statement soon after the coach's remark went viral on the internet.

He wrote, "It's an honour to play for Nigeria. I don't expect to be
begged or given special treatment. I'm available when/if considered
for selection."

Keshi had on Wednesday told journalists in Calabar, "Well, Ikechukwu
Uche's name was originally in the list. But he said he needed somebody
to plead with him before he can come and play for the country. Well, I
cannot do that so I had to change Ike with somebody else."

Keshi has not called up the Villareal striker since the African cup
which Nigeria won in South Africa in 2013. The coach alleged that the
player was not tactically disciplined and never played to team
pattern. Uche has since responded stating that the coach never
mentioned to him that he was not playing to instructions. He was left
out for the Brazil 2014 World Cup after allies of both parties claim
Keshi and the player had discussed at length over their difference but
Keshi had complained that the player reached out to him too late after
he had made up his list.

Nigeria will play Congo in Calabar on Saturday as the race to Morocco
2015 starts.

Boko Haram: FG Denies Hiring Davis As Negotiator

The Federal Government has denied hiring Australia's Stephen Davis as
a Boko Haram negotiator.

The Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri, who
disclosed government's position on the issue in Abuja on Friday, said
the government has no plan of prosecuting any Nigerian for now
following the allegations made by the Australian.

Davis has insisted that former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu
Sheriff and former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika are
Boko Haram sponsors.

He also mentioned an unnamed senior official of the Central Bank of
Nigeria and an Egypt-based man as those funding the sect.

Davis, who refused to disclose the identity of the CBN official, said
his allegations were informed by discussions he had with several Boko
Haram field commanders.

But Omeri insisted that government has not hired anybody to negotiate
on its behalf with the Boko Haram.

"For now nobody has been hired by the government to negotiate on its
behalf with Boko Haram. Anytime the government decides to do so, it
will make it known to the public.

"The government is still investigating the allegations made by the
alleged negotiator. However, the government has no plan to question
anybody because of those allegations made by the Australian," he
stated.
