Two men who French police are seeking to trace in connection with the
Paris attacks registered as refugees with Greek authorities earlier
this year, the Greek police confirmed on Saturday.
French authorities had asked their Greek counterparts to check a
passport and fingerprints of one man and the fingerprints of another
who were thought to have registered in Greece, which is the main entry
point into Europe for Syrian refugees.
At least one Syrian passport was found at the scene of the Stade de
France attack.
Greek minister for citizen protection, Nikos Toskas, said in a
statement that one of the men had been registered on the Greek island
of Leros in October.
"We confirm that the (Syrian) passport holder came through the Greek
island of Leros on October 3 where he was registered under EU rules,"
said a statement issued by Toskas.
French police said the passport was found "near the body of one of the
attackers" in the investigation into the main attack of Friday's
carnage, at the Bataclan concert hall, where 82 people were killed.
The authenticity of the passport was being checked, but its discovery
indicates a possible Syrian connection which has been a working
hypothesis for investigators after assailants hit six separate
locations in Paris.
A Greek police source said the second man had also registered in
Greece, with TV station Mega adding this was also on Leros in August.
European security officials had long feared that jihadists could take
advantage of the mass migration influx, mainly from war-torn Syria,
that Europe has been experiencing since the beginning of the year.

Siege To Dasuki’s Home An Act Of Lawlessness – Court
JUSTICE Ademola Adeniyi of the Abuja Division of the Federal High
Court, yesterday, berated the Federal Government for disobeying his
order to allow former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo
Dasuki, retd, to travel abroad for medication.
Consequently, he summoned the new Attorney-General of the Federation
and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, to appear before him on
Monday, to explain why Dasuki has remained under house arrest for the
past nine days.
Justice Adeniyi maintained that the AGF should be ready to explain why
an order the court made on November 3, permitting Dasuki to travel
abroad for medical attention was violated.
The summon on the AGF was sequel to complaint by Dasuki's lawyers, led
by Mr. Joseph Daudu, SAN, that armed operatives of the Department of
State Service, DSS, barred their client from stepping out of his
house.
Daudu told the court that the operatives have continued to lay siege
to Dasuki's residence at No 13 John Kadiya Street, Asokoro District,
Abuja , with a view to preventing him from travelling abroad for
medical treatment.
Operatives of the Directorate of State Security were still at the
house of former National Security Adviser as at 8 pm last night, many
hours after Justice Adeniyi described their action as lawlessness.
A statement on the imbroglio yesterday night said, "In response to
media enquiry after the court judgement, the armed operatives of DSS
are still by the Residence of Ex-NSA Sambo Dasuki at No 13 John Kadiya
Street Asokoro as at 8pm today".
Meanwhile, the prosecution counsel, Mr. Shuaibu Labaran, who declined
to confirm or deny the presence of security operatives at Dasuki's
house in breach of the court order, yesterday, insisted that the
ex-NSA was being investigated over his alleged complicity in a fresh
money laundering case.
His response drew the irk of Justice Adeniyi, who lambasted the DSS
for not respecting a valid court order. "I have made an order which
has to be obeyed and the order is to the effect that the accused be
allowed to go abroad as from November 4 to treat his ailment within
three weeks and return to the court on November 26 for his trial in
the charges brought against him. I stand by my order, nobody is saying
that the man should not be investigated but the order must be obeyed
and I am not ready to bend on the order.
"I even varied the bail conditions to accommodate a surety to ensure
that the accused comes back to answer the charges against him.
No big deal in any new investigation, it is even a small matter to the
earlier charge. I do not want this issue to escalate because it is
attracting global attention and I know what that means, so my order
must not be flouted.
"If you have any further issue with him, let him go for his medical
check-up and come back. It is the duty of all Nigerians to ensure that
court orders are obeyed. I am not too happy with what is happening. It
is an act of lawlessness and I believe it is not too early for the AGF
to look into this mess.
"The AGF has to come to my court immediately. It is in the best
interest of the nation, so that the scenario will not continue. It is
important that the AGF, being the Chief Law Officer of the Federation,
be present in this court on Monday," the Judge said.
Justice Adeniyi had in a ruling on November 3, okayed Dasuki to travel
to the United Kingdom over his "deteriorating health condition."
My life under threat – Dasuki
The former NSA who is being prosecuted on a five-count charge
bordering on money laundering and alleged possession of illegal
firearms, told the court that he was suffering from cancer.
Meanwhile, in a fundamental right enforcement application he filed
pursuant to section 36(5) 37 and 41 of the 1999 Constitution, as well
as, sections 1(1) and (2) and 266 of the Administration of Criminal
Justice Act 2015, Dasuki alleged that his life is currently under
threat.

I Never Stole From Nigeria – Diezani-Alison Madueke
Nigeria's former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani
Alison-Madueke, has denied allegations of financial impropriety under
her tenure, especially the alleged disappearance of $20billion. Mrs.
Diezani, who is battling with cancer disclosed this in an interview
with The Boss newspaper.
She was visibly angry at the mention of the $20billion
"If there is one issue I must pursue in this world it is the biggest
lie of this money.
How can $20billion disappear just like that? Where did it disappear
to? Is it possible that such an amount would not be traceable?
This is more painful coming from someone I considered a good friend
who should appreciate the gravity of such allegation. I challenge
anyone to come forward with facts showing that I stole government or
public money. I've never stolen Nigeria's money…"
"Rather, I worked hard to halt the rampant business of round-tripping.
When I brought in Reginald Stanley to clean up the place, I requested
for a list of the defaulters. There were about 92 of them and I made
sure we sanctioned them. You can imagine the threat to my life but I
was ready to defend the economic interests of my country. In fact, we
were able to reduce the oil subsidy by about half. No one has
applauded our effort.
"There were those who said the then Governor of Central Bank must have
been angry at me because of the way the Presidency treated him. In all
honesty, he was being blocked from seeing the President by some of
Oga's people (presidential aides) but it had nothing to do with me. I
was the one who even told Oga about the development and Oga said he
would meet him in London on one of his trips.
Unfortunately my boss fell ill and was rushed to King Edward Hospital
and the meeting was aborted."
"Sanusi and I had been friends. There was no way I would have done
anything bad to him. He even came to my house to inform me about his
interest in heading the African Development Bank and we discussed for
about two hours. I promised to support him and I spoke to Oga about
it. We were together on the Reconciliation Committee that looked into
the accounts of NNPC. Yes there were gaps but not on the alarming
scale being circulated. Markafi (former Governor of Kaduna State) did
a thorough job. You know he is a very sound accountant."
What about the allegations that she owns choice properties everywhere?
"It is so sad that anyone could say such about me. Let me say
something to you, I live with my husband in the same house we've lived
since we married in 1999. Ask anyone who knows us. Our house in Abuja
was bought in 2007 by my husband and as an architect and lover of
interior décor I did it up to our own taste. It is not over the top
because I have good taste and appreciate bargains. I shop in regular
shops like B & Q to do up all the places where I live. Anyone who
tells you I have houses anywhere should feel free to publish them.
That was how they said I bought an expensive property in Vienna. I
went to court and I won the case. I never saw the house before except
in picture. The house I stay in London is rented. As a woman I love to
look good. Some of my dresses and jewelleries are often dumped on me
by those I buy from and I pay them when I can"

We’re Not Sure If Nnamdi Kanu Is Alive – Parents
PARENTS of detained promoter of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu have urged
the Federal Government to order the release their son from detention.
His father, the monarch of Isiama Afaraukwu in Umuahia North Council
Area of Abia State said he was surprised at the prolonged detention of
his son.
Nnamdi Kanu
Addressing journalists at his Ome Udo Palace, Eze Israel Kanu, flanked
by his wife, Ugoeze Nnenne Kanu, said that they were worried at the
ordeal their first son has been passing through.
"I am pleading with the Federal Government to release my son. Let his
freedom be restored. I am aware that in Nigeria the Constitution
guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of expression.
"I am surprised that my son is being detained. I have been asking why
he is being held without getting an answer," Eze Kanu lamented.
The monarch further lamented that the agony of the family has been
compounded due to their inability to have access to the detained
activist, noting that they are not sure that he is alive.
"I was confused because my son was coming to see me when he was
arrested. When I asked where he was arrested they said Abuja. I sent
to confirm his state of health and the report I got is that he is
alive, that is why I am able to talk now".
Eze Kanu however, disclosed that his son, born during the
Nigeria-Biafra war, has never discussed his pro-Biafran activism with
him, pointing out that he is not the trouble making type.
According to the monarch, "my son is not a trouble maker, and his
campaign reflects the mind of the majority of the people in the South
East geopolitical zone given the protests that have trailed his arrest
and detention.''
On whether he could influence his son to drop the agitation, Eze Kanu
said he could not guarantee that as his son is a full fledged adult.
"My son is an adult and fully matured to be able to express his mind
on any issue".
Nnamdi's mother, Ugoeze Kanu who also spoke, said that, she wondered
why he should be made to suffer for saying the truth.
"The Bible tells us that truth shall set us free. But in Nigeria we
are being made to understand that truth is bitter and can even lead to
death.
"As a mother, it is painful, I will not deny him, he is my son, but in
a democracy I know there is freedom of speech."

Islamic States have claimed that over 6 different attacks which left

"Eight brothers, wrapped in explosive belts and armed with machine
rifles, targeted sites that were accurately chosen in the heart of the
capital of France," the group said in a statement obtained by the New
York Times.
"Let France and those who walk in its path know that they will remain
on the top of the list of targets of the Islamic State," the statement

The group further claimed that the attacks were "first of the storm",

Sales Girl Steals Baby In Imo, Sells Him For N1m In Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 25-year-old sales
girl, Ogechi Njoku, alongside two of her accomplices, for stealing a
week-old baby from Imo State and selling him to a couple in Cele, Mile
2 area of the state for N1m.
Njoku was nabbed by policemen from Makinde division at about 2am on
Wednesday while taking the baby to the couple.
On the course of investigation, the 25-year-old was said to have led
the State Intelligence Bureau, to arrest her two accomplices, Patience
Nwaogbo and Ngozi Izuora.
Njoku, a sales girl in Omuwa Town in Imo state was said to have been
sent to Lagos with the baby.
It was learnt that the commercial driver became suspicious when Njoku
could not breastfeed the baby but instead gave him baby food when he
started crying.
On getting to Oshodi Oke area of Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, the driver
alerted the police on patrol and Njoku was interrogated and
subsequently apprehended.
According to the police, Njoku, Nwaogbo and Izuora have confessed to
the crime while their collaborator, said to be Njoku's aunt, is at
large.
Disclosing their plan, Njoku, who claimed to be a mother of four said
the arrangement was for her to handover the baby to the couple in the
Cele area of the state, adding that the toddler started crying when
they got to Lagos.
Njoku said, "I have not been to Lagos before. I work as an apprentice
in a shop in Onitsha, Anambra State. It was my aunt, Madam Ngozi, who
asked me to bring the baby to the couple after they had made payment
to her.
"My aunt collected the baby from a lady in Imo who wanted to dispose
of him. I do not know how much she gave the mother of the baby. I
started off this journey at about 11am on Tuesday. I took a private
car and my aunt paid the fare.
"She had collected the N1m, but she had yet to give me any share as at
the time I travelled. While in the car, I could not breastfeed the
baby. I was giving him only baby food.
"When we got to Lagos, the baby started crying and I gave him more
formula. I had not met the buyers before. I was only given their phone
number and I was to meet them in the Cele area. The wife of the man is
barren, and she wanted to adopt the baby. The police have arrested the
couple too, but they were released on bail."
Njoku, who noted that she did not mean any harm to the baby, said her
children were with a guardian in Imo.
"The driver suspected that I was not the baby's mother and reported me
to policemen on patrol. I have four children too in Imo. They are with
a guardian. But I am not living with my husband. We had a quarrel,"
she added.
Confirming the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Fatai
Owoseni, said the police were on the trail of other members of the
syndicate in Imo State.
"We have always enjoined members of the public to report suspicious
persons or movements to the police. This time we were alerted by a
commercial driver that the suspect was not the mother of the baby.
"Upon arrest and interrogation, she confessed that her aunty, a
co-suspect, had given her the baby to sell. We have the baby now in
police protection under the Family Support Unit, and investigation is
ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate in Imo State,"

Igbo Groups Accuse Buhari Of Deliberately Denying Kinsmen ‘Juicy’ Ministries
Leaders of the foremost Igbo socio-political body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo,
and Njiko Igbo, another prominent pan-Igbo association, has berated
President Muhammadu Buhari for deliberately denying Igbo ministers,
'juicy' ministries, The Punch reports.
Opinion leaders and socio-political associations in the South- East
described the portfolios assigned to Igbo ministers as
'disappointing.'
According to the report, President of Ohanaeze Youth Wing, Mazi
Okechukwu Isiguzoro, who spoke on behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said
Ogbonnaya Onu and Chris Ngige should have been given 'more
influential' ministries than the Science and Technology, and Labour
and Productivity, they got.
Isiguzoro said, "We are disappointed that somebody of the calibre of
Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu was assigned to Science and Technology ministry,
even Dr. Chris Ngige should have been appointed as the Health Minister
instead of Labour and Productivity.
"Okechukwu Enalama should have been appointed Minister of Finance.
"Igbo ministers did not get juicy portfolios, except perhaps Ibe
Kachikwu and Rotimi Amaechi, who are our brothers from the
South-South.
"We are not happy that we did not get the juicy portfolios, although
we are happy that our brothers from the Niger Delta got.
"Nevertheless, the era of impunity has gone and we expect all the Igbo
ministers to perform excellently.
"We expect them to close ranks and work towards developing Igboland."
Also reacting to the portfolio given to the ministers, President of
Njiko Igbo, Reverend Okechukwu Obioha, stated that President Muhammadu
Buhari has relegated Igbo ministers to the background in his cabinet,
adding that the association was not surprised by the act.
"They are adding more salt to the injury, we expected that. We can see
that we (Igbo) are not wanted in this country. At the moment, the
sharing of the national cake is between the North and the South-West.
"What will Ngige be doing as Labour and Productivity minister when the
Federal Government is not employing anyone, or creating jobs?
"Even the Foreign Affairs portfolio that was given to an Igboman,
Geoffrey Onyeama, is of no consequence because already Buhari has
travelled to most of the countries and he will continue to do so.
"He has travelled in six months more than the immediate past president
travelled in six years.
"So the Foreign Affairs minister will just be a rubber stamp.
"Buhari has taken the Ministry of Petroleum Resources for himself,
making an Igboman the Minister of State.
"So, Buhari has virtually given the Igbo nothing.
"But the problem is this will lead to more agitation for Biafra," Obioha said.

EXPOSED: New Niger Delta Minister Usani Committed Murder In 1996 – Report
Pastor Uguru Usani Uguru from Cross River State was just sworn in as a
minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, yesterday, but he already
has a case to answer.
According to a petition signed by Jenny Iwara Osuaya, wife of one Mr.
Iwara Osuaya, a Chairmanship contestant in May 1996, in Cross River
State, Usani and others murdered her husband in 1996.
In a Wednesday report by Pointblanknews, a petition, numbered 673, on
the allegation had been filed at the Oputa Panel in 2001.
Usani, who allegedly supported another candidate in the 1996 election,
was said to have promised offsetting Osuaya's election expenses. But
when Osuaya went to collect the promised compensation, a fracas ensued
which resulted in his death.
The assailants were said to have been arrested by the police but Mr.
Usani who was a member of the Cross Rivers State Executive Council
used his influence to suppress investigation into the matter. However,
the preliminary investigation report indicted Usani and others but the
police did not prosecute them. The preliminary report was admitted in
evidence as Exhibit 2.
In view of this, the Commission reportedly ordered the
Inspector-General of Police to constitute another panel to conduct
fresh investigation into the matter. But as Pointblanknews reported,
the case became a "cold case" after the Oputa Panel.
No dust has been raised yet by the revelation but with the
anti-corruption and anti-impunity stand of the present administration,
security agencies are expected to look into the matter and reopen the
case if they find any substance in it.
Usani, who was once a commissioner in Cross Rivers State was,

Pay Us Our Money -- Imo Contractors Begs Okorocha
Contractors who executed road projects for the Imo state government
have appealed to Governor, Rochas Okorocha to pay their money, saying
that it is inhuman for the government not to honour its contractual
agreement three years after executing the road contracts.
The contractors, under the aegis of "Genuine unpaid Imo road
contractors" said that they have met all necessary requirement
including the inspection and certification of their job by inspection
teams of engineers and contract administrators of the state
government.
In statement signed by the representatives of the group, Engr
Abdulkadir Ogirima, Jonathan Onyeukwu, Goddy Oparaku, Sir Anthony
Nwafor and Eze Goddy Paul and a copy made available to Daily Sun
disclosed that payment certificates on the executed road contracts
were processed and forwarded in memoranda by the relevant ministry and
committees to the office of the Governor after necessary inspection.
Statement which read: " after signing the contract, the contractors
were prevailed by the state government to move equipment, labour and
material to site and commence work on the road contracts without
payment of mobilization fees.
The excuse of the state government was that some contractors in the
past had absconded with mobilization fees paid to their companies
without execution of the contracts."
They said that they also have individually worked to the agreed
percentages of work and milestone to deserve payment in accordance to
terms and parties obligations in the contract.
It is disheartening and indeed highly frustrating that the good
gesture of the contractors is not reciprocated but rather the payment
obligation by the government within the contract is not fulfilled for
over two years till date."
They disclosed that having having taken loans running to millions with
high interest rates from commercial banks to execute the road
construction, their properties have been confiscated by the banks
leading to death and hospitalisation of some of their members.
"The non-payment of the contractors considering the high interests
payable on the loans, has caused frustration, litigation from banks
leading to loss of company properties as collateral to financial
institutions, suffering of various degrees of trauma, outright death
of some directors while some members who developed hypertension are
still in hospital."

EFCC, Ohakim’s Lawyers Clash In Court Over N270m Cash Payment For Abuja House
There was drama in court on Thursday as a prosecution witnessed of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and a lawyer defending former
Imo Governor in a N270 million money laundering case, clashed before
the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The clash followed strident attempts by Ohakim's lawyer, Awa Kalu, a
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, to be shown the copies of the
petitions which the EFCC claimed were written against the former
governor by several groups and individuals prompting his trial.
Ohakim is alleged to have made a cash payment of $2, 290,000.00( N270
million ) for a piece of land at Plot No. 1098 Cadastral Zone A04,
Asokoro District, otherwise known as No.60, Kwame Nkurumah Street,
Asokoro, Abuja.
While answering a question by the defence counsel, Awa Kalu, SAN,
prosecution witness, Ishaya Dauda, said the Commission received over
five petitions against the accused person.
Dauda, a Senior Detective Superintendent, SDS, with the EFCC, told the
court that some of the petitions against the accused person were
received from the following sources: Alliance of Redemption and
Destiny Organization; Aggrieved Imo State Citizens; Citizens for Imo
Economic Security and 27 people (who are all signatories to a
petition) from each of the 27 local governments in the state.
When asked by the defence counsel if he made any effort to confirm
whether or not the groups were registered, Dauda said there was no
need to do that.
Dauda further told the court, while answering a question by the
defence counsel, that all the petitions were investigated.
However, when the defence counsel asked for copies of the petitions in
court, the prosecution witness told the court that the petitions were
in the Commission's files.
''My Lord, it is important we see the petitions because the liberty
and freedom and of our client is at stake. Besides, we need to see the
petitions so that we can cross-examine the witness thoroughly,'' said
the defence counsel.
However, the prosecution counsel, Festus Keyamo, raised an objection
to the request, saying that the defence counsel had failed to do the
proper thing as required by law.
According to Keyamo, ''My Lord, in a criminal charge, you cannot ask a
witness to present copies of petitions in court. It is wrong to harass
or ambush a witness to present copies of petitions against an accused
person in court. If you really needed them, you should have applied
for them or told me. If you want them and you tell me, I will bring
them.''
The defence counsel then prayed the court to ask the prosecution
witness to give him copies of the petitions.
Responding, Keyamo told the court that he would give copies of the
petitions to the defence counsel within 24 hours.
In his ruling, Justice Ademola said the prosecution was right in his
submission, adding that ''If you (the defence counsel) needed them, as
you do need them, you would have asked the prosecution to give them to
you.''
The case was adjourned to December 7, 2015 for continuation of trial.

Imo State Govt Scraps 8 Ministries

While the government statement was signed by Governor Rochas
Okorocha's Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mr. Samuel Onwuemeodo, the
organized labour made its position known through the State Chairman of
Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. Austin Chilakpu.
"Following the disturbing general economic situation in the country,
which has compelled both the Federal Government and the states to
resort to the adoption of certain adjustment measures and the
determination of the Rescue Mission government in the state to make
the ministries effective and productive, the number of ministries in
the state has been pruned from twenty two to thirteen".

Pro-Biafra Protests: S-East Govs, Ohanaeze’s Meeting Postponed As Venue Shifts To Enugu
Barring any last minute changes, the planned meeting of the South East
governors, the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other stakeholders
over the escalating agitation by secessionists, will now hold next
Tuesday, in Enugu.
The new changes were communicated in a press statement signed by
Governor Rochas Okorocha's Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mr. Samuel
Onwuemeodo.
Recall that the meeting, which was initially slated for this weekend
in Owerri, the Imo State capital, was moved to Enugu, for strategic
reasons.
"The expected meeting of the governors of the South-East states, the
leadership of Ohanaeze and other stakeholders, initially slated for
this weekend in Owerri, at the instance of Governor Rochas Okorocha,
to discuss the continued pro-Biafra protests across the South-East
states and other neighbouring states, has been shifted to Tuesday,
November 17, 2015", Onwuemeodo said.
Okorocha's spokesman also explained that "the venue of the meeting has
also been moved from Owerri to Enugu, which has been the traditional
headquarters of the South-East states".
Giving the reason for the postponement, the statement said it was
informed by the need for all those expected at the meeting to be in
attendance.
"The South-East governors, Ohanaeze leadership and others who will be
at the meeting will deliberate on the pro-Biafra protests that had
gained momentum in recent time and for the governors and other leaders
to do what they are expected to do in the circumstance", the CPS said.

Orlu Community In US Celebrates Unity
THE Orlu community in the Dallas metropolitan area wrote a new chapter
in its history by turning a page from the decades of dark past to a
celebratory mood of endeared unity on Saturday, November 7, 2015.
Hordes of people from various communities trooped in to witness the
historic occasion where the Orlu people professed that they have
actually turned the page from the past to embrace a new and energized
organization.
It was a remarkable event that ushered in a new era among the people
as they celebrated harmony.
However, the occasion did not occur without an obvious resistance to
the union from a few individuals. It is fair to say that the
accomplishment of a stable peace in the community did not obscure the
dark hearts of some elements who derive joy in sowing seeds of discord
and destruction.
Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience that illustrated the
possibilities various communities could achieve once united.
Indeed, it was not by accident that the occasion occurred; it was the
act of God that allowed the community to once again swim in the ocean
of peace and unity that had eluded it.
Undeniably, it was as result of years of efforts and overtures by two
presidents of the organizations, numerous committees, and individuals
to woo some people back to the Old Orlu Progressive Association (OOPA)
which led to the triumphant return of staunch members on Sunday,
February 9, 2014. Under the leadership of Mr. Ogbogu Achonwa (Nkwerre
LGA) and his emissaries, Chief Emma Ibe and Chief Emma Obi from Orlu
LGA and Njaba LGA respectively, OOPA is now gradually rehabilitating
its image in the United States.
Without vacillation, the August return of the key members to the fold,
to the delectation of OOPA dwindling members, who were in celebratory
mood to welcome the pillars of the organization, was a boon to OOPA.
But what happened to the association? Sadly, the power of the
organization eviscerated when it lost its moral integrity. Lack of its
moral fabric was antithesis of what Dr. George Njoku (Nwangele), Dr.
Acho Orabuchi (Orlu) Atty. Fidelis Nwaozuzu (Njaba), Chief Ken Jerry
Ike (Orsu), Nze Ben Nnawuihe (Oru East), and others, who form the
inner citadel inside the Orlu community in the United States,
believed in. After severe warnings and public indignation, some
pertinacious members fell for unsavory bait that brought the
organization to its morose state.
With the increasing whiff of moral degradation reeking deeply into the
organization and constant deprecation from the public, those members
who unwittingly towed the path of the so-called elders, who conflate
turgid immorality and progress, realized the consequences of their
short-sightedness and were hurrying to chart a new course for the
organization. The absence of the pillars created a huge vacuum that
could not be filled by the noisemakers. But in the face of the
organization's travail, people like Mr. Celestine Muoneke, Atty.
Gabriel Ogueri, Chief Oliver Iheme, and Andy Ibe stood tall
advocating for peace and unity.
In any case, people reacted favorably to the substance and
significance of the occasion. Chief Johnson Ihemeremadu orated, "The
Toast of Unity and Oneness by Dr. Acho Orabuchi climaxed the
repertoire of events that marked the Old Orlu Progressive Association
(OOPA) Saturday night Appreciation Party. After many years of
agonizing personality conflicts cum rugged individualism, which almost
destroyed OOPA, it is indeed quite refreshing and noteworthy that the
Orlu people mustered courage to imbibe an air of freshness and new
found Risorgimento to OOPA. Kudos to a few good men and women who
worked tirelessly to achieve peace and unity in Orlu."
Dr. Uzo Unegbu, a medical practitioner who came from Washington, DC
said, "OOPA appreciation day held in Dallas, Texas was an event that
exemplifies our existence as a community and its theme, "appreciation
day", acknowledges the saying that history determines the future. The
affiliate association of ORAUSA in Dallas is one to emulate where they
recognized all past leaders of their association with style. My wife
Lolo Titi Unegbu and I, had fun and felt welcomed by our brethren's in
Dallas. The Honorable President Chief Achonwa was a great host. His
humility will take him far in this great organization. Organizing such
an event is not an easy task, but he represented the organization
well. Dallas Igbo community can party and they danced until the break
of dawn. It was an honor and a privilege to celebrate unity with great
people of Orlu in Dallas."
Nze Ben Nnawuihe said with excitement, "It was incumbent upon us as a
people to have an event aimed at primarily exhibiting our uniqueness
and to reunify our organization. I saw a great sense of humor and
relief from the members who were bold to bring out their families
again after a state of confusion and long turmoil of moral decline and
indiscipline of some individuals. As the Chairman of the Planning
Committee, I made sure we left no stone unturned to get our members to
understand the importance and boost enthusiastic support for the
party. And we were very successful, though OOPA still has a tough job
ahead to adequately restore full peace and unity. We are hopeful that
protracted acrimonious sentiments of the past have left us."
Mr. Peter Ebere said, "The OOPA unity celebration event was well
organized with good food. I want to thank and congratulate the Orlu
people for organizing such a historic event. Many times we tend to
forget the importance of unity and those who worked tirelessly and
sacrificed to ensure that peace reigns in an organization. I am glad
that Orlu people found it worthy to honor those individuals who
sacrificed to achieve unity in their community; I wish that other
organizations will emulate Orlu people as we move forward." Sir Iyke
Ginigeme echoed, "OOPA once again proved to Ndi-Igbo in Dallas that
they are united. In fact, without a doubt, it can be said that unity
is power. Therefore, I call other senatorial zones to emulate OOPA and
come together as a united front. As I commend the chairman of the
Organizing Committee, I pray and hope that the Orlu people will
sustain peace and unity in its community."
Mr. Ngozi Echebelem illustrated the evening this way: "People who
attended the event last weekend hosted by the merchants of OOPA
witnessed unity at its best for an organization that was once known
for its unity in everything they did. Dr. Acho Orabuchi, the first
chairman of the board who toasted at the event called for unity and
collective responsibility for the organization's members."
Truly, not only that there is strength in numbers and diversity, but
there is also synergy in cohesive organization; a necessary condition
that allows the accomplishment of common purpose.

Supreme Court Suspends Saraki’s Trial At CCT
The Supreme Court this morning halted further proceedings in the trial
of Senate President Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal
pending the determination of the appeal filed before the court.
Justice John Fabiyi leading a five-man panel of the court made the
order today, after the Federal Government's counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs
(SAN), had asked the court to give an undertaking that Saraki's main
appeal would be given an accelerated hearing.
Saraki's lead counsel, Mr. Joseph Daudu (SAN), had argued his client's
motion for stay of the CCT's proceedings.
In a unanimous decision read by Justice Fabiyi, the apex court ordered
the tribunal "to tarry awhile."
He ordered Jacobs to file his respondents' brief in response to
Saraki's appellant's brief served on him in court on Thursday within
seven days.
The Supreme Court also ordered Daudu to file further response to
Jacobs' brief, if he so desired within seven days thereafter.
Justice Fabiyi said the date for the hearing of the appeal would be
communicated to parties in due course.
The trial began 22 September and was last heard 5 November. Further
hearing scheduled for 19 November, will no longer hold with today's
ruling.
The Senate president's earlier appeal had on 30 October been dismissed
at the Court of Appeal, in a split decision of 2-1 by the judges.
Justice Moore Agumanen, who read the majority verdict upheld the trial
at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
The judges said the tribunal was properly constituted and that the
tribunal led by Danladi Umar could sit with the chairman and one other
member.
Agumanen said they relied on section 28 of the Interpretation Act to
reach the decision.
He said the Code of Conduct Tribunal and Code of Conduct Bureau Act
and the constitution did not talk about a quorum.
In a further blow to the Senate President, the majority judges said
the CCT has criminal jurisdiction, though limited.
The judges also ruled that the Code of Conduct Tribunal has powers to
issue a bench warrant.
The dissenting third judge, Justice Joseph Ekanem however ruled that
Saraki's appeal had merit.

Pro-Biafra Agitators Demonstrate In Owerri
Hundreds of supporters of Pro- Biafra groups on Thursday marched along
major streets in Owerri and called for the release of Mr Nnamdi Kanu,
the acclaimed operator Radio Biafra.
The demonstrators, comprising members of Movement for the Sovereign
State of Biafra and the Indigenous People of Biafra, chanted
pro-Biafra songs and war songs.
While the demonstration lasted, armed security operatives, including
the police and the army, in trucks, monitored the situation.
A demonstrator, who refused to be named, said that the agitation was
meant for the Federal Government to release Kanu unconditionally and
allow Biafra people freedom.
He said that it was wrong for the Federal Government and its security
agents to arrest Kanu because he supported and believed in the freedom
of Biafra people.
"Kanu did not commit any crime to be arrested by the Nigerian
Government and we cannot hold ourselves back in asking for his release
even if we die in the process,'' the demonstrator said.
He said that the members of the group had carried out the
demonstration in Enugu, Aba, and Port Harcourt.
"We are in Owerri today and hope to extend this move to other towns
within Biafra territory till we achieve our aim,'' he said.
The demonstrators wore T-Shirts with Biafra inscriptions and flags.
The three markets in Owerri — Owerri Main Market, New Market and
Owerri Relief Market — were shut while some private schools and shop
owners closed their businesses to avoid any ugly experiences.
When contacted on why armed policemen were accompanying agitators, the
Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Andrew Enwerem, declined comment.
"Please I do not have any comment on that my brother," Enwerem said.

We Are Yet To Speak With Nnamdi Kanu In Detention – MASSOB
A faction of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State
of Biafra, MASSOB, has explained why the much-publicized meeting
scheduled to take place in Owerri, Imo State, could not hold.
The group said the meeting was put on hold due to the continued
detention of the director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.
Director of information of the faction, Comrade Uchenna Madu, in a
statement said in addition, the continued protests by pro- Biafra
groups in some cities in the South East and South –South did not
create a conducive atmosphere for such a meeting to take place.
He also claimed that all efforts to speak with the radio director had
not yielded any fruit.
Madu's statement read: "We support the meeting of the South East
governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo, with pro-Biafra groups to douse the
tension, but we believe that such a meeting cannot take place while
Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention.
"The continued detention of Kanu, non compliance with Biafra demands
will continue to haunt, frustrate and diminish Nigeria's image before
the international community."

Apology To Nigerians: Dokpesi Expressed His Opinion, Not PDP’s Position – Metuh
National Publicity Secretary of the People's Democratic Party (PDP),
Chief Olisa Metuh, said the apology credited to the party's National
Conference Committee Chairman, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, remained his
personal opinion.
Metuh said this when he spoke with newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to him, Dokpesi's statement did not in any way represent the
official position of the PDP, as he was not a member of the party's
National Executive Committee.
Commenting on PDP's choice to field former President Goodluck Jonathan
in the 2015 presidential race, Metuh said the decision was approved by
the party's National Working Committee (NWC).
He added that the decision was also approved by the party's National
Executive Council (NEC), and the party's National Caucus.
"In addition, the Constitution of the party allows a sitting president
the chance to exercise his personal right to run for a second term if
he so desires."
Stressing that Dokpesi's expression of regret was not the party's
position, Metuh said: "how can you regret a decision taken when
everyone was there, the NWC, NEC and the national caucus?
"What are we talking about? Everybody was conscious of the decision;
nobody was coerced into supporting the position."
However, he said it was not the time for buck-passing or blame-game
but time to collectively reposition the party.
"We are repositioning our party. What we should do is to join hands to
reposition PDP based on Sen. Ike Ekweremadu's report to reclaim the
party's lost glory. This is what is expected of us all at this time,"
Metuh said.

Research Shows Higher Rate Of Happiness Among Non-users Of Facebook
Logging off from Facebook can contribute to more happiness, according
to a Danish study on users of the social networking site.
The findings were based on a week-long survey of 1,095 Facebook users,
who were divided into two groups, Meik Wiking, chief executive of The
Happines Research Institute said on Wednesday.
"One half would continue to use Facebook as normal, that was our
control group, and the other half were asked not to log on to Facebook
for a week," he told newsmen.
A week later, the two groups were assessed again and there was an
increase in the average happiness rating among those who took a break
from Facebook.
On a 10-point scale, their average increased 0.5 points – rising from
7.56 to 8.12 points, while the group that continued to use Facebook
showed only a marginal change, the report said.
"The finding, I was most surprised about was how much life
satisfaction increased in our treatment group, the people who had a
break from Facebook," Wiking said.
The researchers had not been sure they would be able to detect any
effect at all in such a short period of a week, he added.
The group, who had a break from Facebook were also less stressed, more
decisive and felt "more present in the moment," the report said.
The survey was conducted at the end of October, and comprised Danish
Facebook users, aged from 17 to their 70s.
"Ironically, we recruited people via Facebook," Wiking said.
About 10-15 per cent of the users in the group that took a break,
conceded after the survey was completed that they had actually logged
on to Facebook.
Wiking, who signed up as well and was randomly put in the treatment
group, said he was forced to drop out as he had to check an address to
a party that was posted on Facebook.
He said the think tank plans a follow-up, including tracking the
groups to see if there was a long-term effect and if users would
return to previous Facebook behaviour.

Blatter In Hospital, Says No Intention To Quit
Suspended Federation of International Football Association (FIFA)
President, Joseph Blatter, is in hospital with an undisclosed illness
but insists he will not quit.
His adviser, Klaus Stoehlker, disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday in Zurich.
"He is in the recovery stage, the doctors say that he can work again
from next Tuesday onwards," Stoehlker said.
He did not reveal the reason for Blatter's hospitalisation but said
"he told me that his head and heart are ok."
Blatter, 79, was last week told by doctors to rest and was
hospitalised at the weekend, according to Stoehlker.
It would be recalled that Blatter and European Football Association
(UEFA) President, Michel Platini, were provisionally suspended for 90
days on Oct. 8 by FIFA Ethics Committee in connection with a "disloyal
payment"
Blatter was also suspected of mismanagement in one other case in a
Swiss criminal probe.
The embattled president and Platini had said they were innocent and
appealed the ruling.
It was gathered that if the appeal fails, he may approach the Court of
Arbitration for Sports as he seeks to stay on the job as planned until
an extraordinary FIFA congress set for February, 2016.
"I am the elected FIFA president; I was elected by the 209 member
federations of FIFA and no commission in the world can remove me,"
Blatter said recently.

DSS After Dasuki To Recover Tape Of Jega's Pre-election Secret Meeting With Northern Elders
The Department of State Services, DSS, continued siege to the
residence of former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki
(Rtd) is as a result of the agency wanting to lay their hands on the
tape of the secret meeting former INEC chairman Professor Attahiru
Jega held with Northern leaders in Dubai which is in Dasuki's
possession.
The DSS had on July 9, 2015, on a Thursday, raided Dasuki's Abuja and
Sokoto homes which the agency claimed to be based on credible
intelligence linking the immediate past NSA, Mohammed Sambo Dasuki
(Col rtd) with alleged plans to commit treasonable felony against the
Nigerian State.
However, it has been learnt that the tape of the secret meeting Jega
had with Northern elders in Dubai in Dasuki's possession is the reason
why the DSS invaded his house.
On the 5th of November, three months after raiding his Abuja
residence, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) again
returned to Sambo's house.
Investigations revealed that the DSS operatives besieged the residence
of Dasuki with the intent to prevent him from embarking on a supposed
planned trip to the UK for medical treatment.
On Tuesday, a court had ruled that Dasuki's international passport,
which was seized by the DSS, should be released to enable him travel
abroad for medical treatment which led to the DSS operatives besieging
his residence with the intent to prevent him from embarking on a
planned trip to the UK for medical treatment.
Reports indicate that the DSS is trying to stop Dasuki from taking
abroad the tape of Jega's pre-election secret meeting with Northern
elders in Dubai abroad – as the content of the tape is rumored to be
whistle-blower on the 2015 Presidential election.
Professor Jega Dubai meeting with Northern elders in Dubai had been
the basis that calls for Jega's resignation was tagged on, with some
reports before the election indicating that he had submitted his
resignation which was rejected by Goodluck Jonathan – based on public
outcry which would have followed suit.

Ronaldo Premieres His Film In London
From soccer pitch to red carpet, FIFA World Player of the Year
Cristiano Ronaldo, premiered his personal portrait film "Ronaldo" in
London on Monday.
Ronaldo reunited with his former Manchester United manager Sir Alex
Ferguson on the red carpet, which also saw a late arrival from Chelsea
manager Jose Mourinho.
Posing with a line of fans, Ronaldo sought to break a selfie record
upon arrival and was also awarded certificates for other Guinness
World Records he had, including "most 'liked' person on Facebook".
"The people who really know me, they are not going to be surprised
about the movie," Ronaldo told Reuters when asked about the film.
Asked if after his soccer playing career he might eye a position as
head of FIFA or UEFA, the Real Madrid striker said that he would
adjust accordingly to the dictates of his future endeavours.
"I'm not that smart to be president. I do not worry about that, about
what is going to happen in my future."
"I think I'm still able to play a few more years of football, but in
future I have other projects, that will be more interesting than being
president," he added.
The film, made by the team behind documentaries on racing driver
Ayrton Senna and singer Amy Winehouse, looks at his professional side
as well as shows tender moments between Ronaldo and his young son.
"You have a chance to see the real Cristiano," Ronaldo's agent Jorge
Mendes said of the film.
Ronaldo is also captain of Portugal's national team, which last month
secured its spot for Euro 2016 in France.
Asked if he thought he could bring the side to victory, Ronaldo said:
"Well, I will try. "I will help the team and I will give my best like
always and let's see what happens."

Pro-Biafra Protest Grounds Port Harcourt
Thousands of members of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, stormed
the streets of Port Harcourt Tuesday on a massive protest.
They took over the Aba, Oyigbo axis of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State
capital, southern Nigeria, shutting down the Port Harcourt/Aba
expressway.
Over 50 military and police trucks and armoured tanks conveyed
personnel to the busy Eleme Junction interchange to prevent the
protesters from getting to Government House, Port Harcourt, where they
insist they must see Governor Nyesom Wike.
The protest crippled movement of people who have business and social
activities in and around Aba, Oyigbo and the East West road Eleme,
Onne Axis that is host to two major Port Harcourt refineries,
Indoroma-Eleme Petrochemicals, Onne Ports Oil and Gas Free Zone that
has over 100 companies located in it.
Vehicular movement was stalled at the Eleme Junction interchange where
there is a heavy presence of combined team of military, police and
other security agencies.
At the time of this report soldiers and policemen deployed at First
Artillery at Okporo road had started firing both teargas and life
bullets to scare the protesters.
There is confusion everywhere as people scamper in all directions to
avoid being hit by stray bullets.
An eyewitness said that "thousands of protesters coming from Aba, Abia
State seem to have overwhelmed the security men who are reluctant to
use maximum force. Please nobody should dare come near Aba Port
Harcourt/Expressway or Okporo road. As I call you now, I am speaking
from where I am taking cover to avoid stray bullets from obviously
infuriated security men who are being dared by pro-Biafra youths from
Aba who had grounded business and social activities in the commercial
city of Aba."
Another eyewitness said as "I talk to you now the protesters are
daring the security men. The protesters should go to their states in
Abia, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu states and stop disturbing the
peace of Port Harcourt. If they are protesting against the arrest and
detention of Nnamdi KANU, the Director of Radio Biafra, they should go
and protest in Abuja, not Port Harcourt."
Wenada Weli, another eyewitness said: "The pro-Biafra protesters have
right to protest but we, Rivers people who don't support Biafra should
be allowed to go to their various business places."
The last major protest of the pro-Biafra youths on Tuesday October 20,
in streets of Port Harcourt saw the arrest of 20 youths who allegedly
tore Nigerian flags and were charged with treasonable felony offence
which attracts capital punishment.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers had descended hard on protesters who
disrupted social and economic activities in Port Harcourt, the Rivers
State capital, on Tuesday 20 October under the platform of the
Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, warning against such insidious
actions again by anybody or group in the state.
Wike who was peeved by the protest by members of the IPOB in Port
Harcourt, warned that such demonstrations will no longer be tolerated
by his administration.
Insisting on the indivisibility of Nigeria, which he swore to protect,
the governor said the actions of the IPOB members are capable of
causing chaos in the state.
The Governor who gave the warning in statement issued by his Opunabo
Inko-Tariah, the immediate past Senior Special Adviser on Media and
Publicity, said that "as the Chief Security Officer of the state who
swore to protect life and property, he will not tolerate actions that
will lead to a breakdown of law and order in the state."
Dissociating himself and the state from the protest, Governor Wike
warned that the coercive legal machinery will be set in motion against
any group that will disrupt the peace in the state.
He enjoined residents and all those transacting businesses in the
state to go about their lawful duties, assuring them of safety.
However, IPOB members disregarded the Governor's warning and embarked
on another massive protest that has now paralysed the state.

Buhari Sacks Permanent Secretaries
In what appears to be a shake up in Nigeria's ministries, President
Muhammadu Buhari has sacked some permanent secretaries ahead of
tomorrow's swearing-in of ministers.
Buhari on Tuesday ordered mass retirements of Permanent Secretaries 24
hours ahead of inauguration of his maiden cabinet. The President had
earlier met with the affected Permanent Secretaries in company of his
Chief of Staff and the Head of Service, at the Presidential Villa on
Tuesday afternoon.
The exact number of Permanent Secretaries involved in the mass purge
is not certain as the figures being quoted ranged from 17 to 20.
PM News learnt that some of the Permanent Secretaries affected include
that of Health, Power, Petroleum, Finance, Defence, Housing, Transport
and Urban Development and Special Duties.
Though no reason was given for the mass retirements, this magazine
however gathered that the action followed recent appointment of Mrs.
Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita as the Head of Service of the Federation.
The new HOS, it was learnt is very low in the hierarchy of the
Permanent Secretaries and the sack of her seniors was intended to
avoid the awkward situation in which they will have to be taking
orders from her.
But some of the Permanent Secretaries were also said to have been
involved in politics during that administration of President Goodluck
Jonathan while some have been indicted for sundry corrupt practices.

Robbers Attack Bariga, Rape Newly-Wed And Forced Husband To Watch
Residents of Adio, Ekimogun streets and Kehinde Lane in the Bariga
area of Lagos State have started fleeing their homes after frequent
attack of armed robbers.
Punch Metro reports that Adio residents were attacked three times last
week, Ekimogun Street had two visits and Kehinde Lane was invaded
once.
During the raid of Ekimogun, a newly-wed woman who just moved into the
house with her husband was raped while her husband was forced to
watch.
The security guard of a nursery and primary school on Adio Street was
bound by his hands and feet and beaten up severely.
The frequency of the attacks and the inability of the police to
address the scourge forced some of the residents to form local
vigilantes to ward off the robbers.
The landlady in one of the houses, who identified herself as
Olubukola, told our correspondent her children had stopped going to
school because she no longer slept at home.
She said despite not staying at home, the robbers still broke into her
room and carted away valuables.
She said, "They have entered my house three times now. The first time
was early Monday morning. They ransacked all the flats in the
building.
"On Wednesday night cum Thursday morning, they returned and stole more
things. Because of all these, people stopped living in their houses.
My children and I now squat in a friend's apartment in Alagbado.
"But on Friday morning, we returned and discovered the robbers had
come and because they did not meet anybody, they broke in and took
away my television and DSTV decoder."

Protests: Imo Police Arrest 50 MASSOB Members
The Imo State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 50 suspected
members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign States
of Biafra over the pro-Biafra protests that rocked most of the South
East states last weekend.
The State Police Public Relation Officer, (PPRO) Andrew Enwerem, (DSP)
who confirmed this yesterday however, said those arrested were 31. He
said that 10 out of those detained were arrested last week Friday
during the nationwide protest embarked upon by the Indigenous People
Of Biafra (IPOB), while the remaining 21 were arrested on Monday.
Enwerem further disclosed that police arrested the 21 members of IPOB
along Wetheral road, Owerri with insignias of Biafra, just as he also
explained that the protesters barricaded roads causing gridlock.
"They were arrested with different kinds of Biafra flag, vest and
uniforms, chanting pro-Biafra slogans and causing nuisance on the
road."
Although, he claimed that some of the arrested pro-Biafra protesters
have been released on bail but reliable source revealed that over 30
are still being detained in the police custody.
It would be recalled that security agents in the state had taken a
pre-emptive measure to thwart the planned protest of members of IPOB.
