Serena Beats Sharapova For 19th Slam

Serena Williams won her sixth Australian Open and 19th career Grand
Slam with a hard-fought win over bitter rival Maria Sharapova on
Saturday, consolidating her place among the game's legends.

The 6-3, 7-6 (7/5) triumph means the American world number one
overtakes 18-time major champions Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert
to go clear second on the all-time Open-era Grand Slam winners' list,
three behind Steffi Graf.

Australia's Margaret Court, who played many of her match before the
Open-era, has 24 titles. Evert, commentating on ESPN, backed Williams
to eventually overtake Graf's mark "if she stays healthy, if he stays
motivated".

"Standing here with 19 championships is something I never thought
would happen, I went on the courts with just a ball and a racquet and
hope and that's all I had," said Williams, at 33 the oldest women to
win the Melbourne title.

"I'm just so excited to have this title," she added, revealing that
she had been "throwing up" when she went off court during a rain delay
in the first set.

The American has been battling a cold all tournament and was coughing
during the match.

The first Australian final in a decade to feature the tournament's top
two seeds was a one-sided affair in the opening set, although
Sharapova rallied to make a contest of it in the second, saving two
championship points before falling to a third.

The win extends Williams' decade-long run over the Russian to 16
matches, with the second seed hailing her rival's "incredible
achievement".

"I've got to congratulate Serena on creating history and playing some
of her best tennis," she said.

"I haven't beaten her for a really long time but I love every time I
step out on the court with her because she's been the best and as a
tennis player you want to play against the best."

An intensely focused Williams outgunned Sharapova, cannoning down 18
aces, including a 203 kmh (166 mph) thunderbolt and glaring at her
opponent during key moments as Sharapova struggled to stay in the
match.

Ohakim Beats PDP Chieftain To Stupor, Narrowly Escapes Death

(Photo: Chief Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe)

Former governor of Imo state, Chief Ikedi Ohakim in a rare display of
rageWednesdayflew off the handle and physically assaulted his
confidant, Chief Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe.

By the time his anger subsided, Chief Ajumbe had sustained a deep cut
on his head and lacerations on his face which he would nurse and
remember for a long time about the deadly encounter.

Briefing newsmen at his bedside in Owerri, the state capital, Chief
Ajumbe gave a graphic detail of how the ex-governor nearly sent him to
the grave.

According to Ajumbe, who served as Ohakim's agent at theDecember 8PDP
governorship primaries, the former governor owed him millions of naira
accruing from the jobs he did for him, part of which included some
millions he helped raise for him before the primaries.

"When i called on him to pay me, he finally invited me to his
residence in Owerri after dodging me several times. He gave me a
Fidelity Bank cheque which could not be cashed both in Abuja and
Owerri", he said.

Ajumbe added that he mailed the bounced cheque back to the former
governor, who now invited him to his house in Owerri.

Because of the sensitive nature of the issue, Ajumbe said he went to
see Ohakim in the company of two of his friends.

He stated that after about two hours delay, Ohakim emerged from his
swimming pool and requested that the two friends of Ajumbe should go
and leave him to thrash the matter out with him as friends".

"I obliged his request and told my friends to go in front of the house
to wait for me. It was then that Ohakim started shouting at me and was
asking if I was using the dud cheque to blackmail him. I told him that
I would do no such thing.

"But before I could finish what I was saying Ohakim grabbed an iron
bar by the side of his house and started hitting me. He hit me first
on the head with blood gushing out and later on my back when I fell
down. He hit me severally with this iron bar and ordered that the
gates be lucked for him to kill me the way he killed other people like
me.

"Already, I had lost consciousness and the friends I told to wait for
me in front started hearing his voice and rushed to revive me and
helped me out of the place before I could be killed. It was then that
he realized that those friends of mine did not leave as he had
requested", he said.

He however stated that Chief Ohakim on realizing the damage he had
done thereafter pleaded with him to take heart even as he (Ohakim)
joined to clean the blood that was gushing out of his head.

Ajumbe, who thanked God for saving his life from the man he once
called bossom friend, regretted that Ohakim could reduce himself to
the extent of beating up a fellow man.

It could be recalled that when Ohakim was in power as the Imo State
governor, he was heavily alleged to have flogged a Catholic priest in
sutan and clamped him into police cell for three days.

Also, on November 1, 2014 during the PDP ward delegates election,
Ohakim and his brother, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume were in a near
fisticuffs at the party's state secretariat, Owerri over who should
control the delegates in Isiala Mbano LGA with both men shoving each
other and threatening to slap each other.

Effort made to get the former governor to comment on the incident
proved abortive. A text message forwarded to his telephone line was
not replied.

Residents Flee Maiduguri As Boko Haram Surrounds City

Residents of Maiduguri are fleeing in droves for fear of an attack by
the terror sect,Boko Haram.

An earlier attempt last Sunday was repelled by soldiers.

But with residents whispering yesterday that members of the sect had
surrounded the city preparatory to a fresh attempt, hundreds have
rushing out of town.

The Damaturu/Kano/ Bauchi/Jos high way which is the only safe route in
and out of the town has been recording heavy vehicular traffic in the
last few days.

A resident of Damaturu in neighbouring Yobe State,Aisha Abdullahi told
our correspondent that she almost called off her official trip to
Maiduguri yesterday on seeing the large number of cars racing out
of the city.

"I almost turned back looking at the way people were leaving the
town.I just don't know where the courage to continue the journey came
from.I prayed all through the ," she said.

Usman Kakami Bulama who moved his seven children to Kano said that
Maiduguri residents have not been sleeping well since President
Goodluck Jonathan's recent campaign visit to Maiduguri.

"I have become worried just like many other people in Maiduguri. The
city has not had this kind of threat of recent until the president
came here and left last Saturday. We don't sleep with our eyes closed
any longer and the tension is growing stronger every day.

"I have never moved my family anywhere since this problem started but
I am afraid that this time around something dangerous will happen. It
is better for my family to leave and I stay alone than all of us
staying here. It does not make sense though its painful and the cost
implication is also there," Bulama said.

Hundreds of people besieged motor parks on Damaturu/Kano road on
their way out of the city.

Many of them said they might return to after the election.

Augustina Andrew who was travelling to the Southeast with her two
children mentioned said: "if Nigeria is alive after May 29, 2015, I
will come back otherwise, it is bye bye to Maiduguri".

Abaganna Yunusa however dismissed the threat on Maiduguri by Boko
Haram, saying :"Let them come inside Maiduguri, they will see fire.
The day they enter Maiduguri will be their last day. We are going to
kill all of them. Enough is enough. We are tired of them."

The army has remained silent on the feared attack.

Commercial activities are however going on smoothly in the metropolis.
Commercial institutions like banks are still operating in the city
while schools, both private and public are also in session.

The magazine--Newsweek--yesterday quoted John Campbell, former U.S.
ambassador to Nigeria and editor of the Nigeria Security Tracker - a
tool which monitors violence in the West African country - as saying:
"In terms of the encirclement of Maiduguri, we try to track the
villages that Boko Haram occupies around Maiduguri and indeed it looks
like a noose."

Boko Haram launched an offensive on the city last week to coincide
with the visit of U.S. secretary of state John Kerry to the capital,
Lagos, to meet with both presidential candidates, incumbent Goodluck
Jonathan and opposition leader Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari Petitions NBC Over Hate Broadcast

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC),
Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has protested to the Director-General of the
National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over hate broadcast against
him.

He asked the NBC to probe the fabricated broadcast and take necessary
punitive actions.

Buhari lodged the protest through the Director, Legal APC Presidential
Campaign Council, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume (SAN).

The letter reads in part: "I bring to your attention the fabricated
and hate broadcast by African Independent Television (AIT) against All
Progressives Congress and its presidential candidate, His Excellency,
Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

"This hate broadcast has been on from Saturday 24th January 2015 to
Sunday 25th January 2015 at 11 pm.

"All-well-meaning Nigerians and persons all over the world are worried
that DAAR Communication Plc could do this evil to Nigerians'
sensibilities by broadcasting fixed and fabricated lies for hate
purposes. The twisting of facts in the broadcast is unprecedented.

"By continuously despairing our youths with: 'General Buhari has
severally failed elections, and so belong to the dark past,' is that
to say perseverance is no longer part of life?

"USA is great today through perseverance. Abraham Lincoln failed
elections for over seven times, yet he became one of the best
presidents USA has had. Nigeria would soon have its turn. The
possibility is with us now. Hate broadcast must be condemned.

"APC and her presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari, are aware that every
life has its past but that past must not be a fabricated one. No
nation can build its future and elect its true leaders on falsehood
and hate broadcast. The broadcast is utter disservice to Nigeria.

"I therefore demand your good office to immediately investigate the
said hate broadcast with a view to taking appropriate punitive steps
against the AIT and its comrades in this unholy act.

At this solemn period of general elections, Nigeria electorate cannot
be treated to this disturbing level of fabricated and hate broadcast."

Nigerian Army General, Others Arrested Over Baga Attack

More than 10 senior Nigerian Army officers, including a
Brigadier-General have been arrested and are telling the military
hierarchy what they know about the Baga attack by the insurgent group,
Boko Haram.

According to the Director of Defence Information, Major-General Chris
Olukolade, the senior army officers are being investigated for
allegedly shirking their responsibilities during the attack by the
militants.

Those arrested are Brigadier-General Enitan Ransome-Kuti, his Chief of
Staff Lt. Colonel G.A Suru.

Others are the Commanding Officer of 134 and 174 battalions, Lt.
Colonel Haruna and a certain Major aliyu.

The two Nigerian Army battalions are under the Multi-National Task
Joint Task Force in Baga, attacked by the insurgents.

Speaking on the arrest, General Olukolade said that the arrested
officers were being investigated because at the time of the attack on
the multinational headquarters in Baga, Brigadier-General Ransome-Kuti
and his men were fully in charge of the military formation.

He said it was disappointing that the attack on Baga was not repelled
by both battalions, despite having the necessary weapons to carry out
the necessary operations.

On January 3, 2015, suspected members of Boko Haram attacked the base
of the Multinational Task Force in Baga, Borno State, dislodging the
soldiers there.

Reports say the troops were warned to be on alert following
intelligence reports that terrorists would strike between January 22
and January 25.

Eyewitnesses said that the attack started around 5am when residents
started hearing gunshots as the insurgents tried to gain entrance into
the MNJTF premises.

Many civilians living in the barracks were said to have been killed
during the attack.

African Union Backs 7,500 Troops Regional Force To Fight Boko Haram

The African Union has endorsed a West African plan to set up a
regional task force of 7,500 to fight Islamist Boko Haram militants, a
senior official said on Thursday.

Neighbours Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger, Chad and Benin agreed earlier in
January to call on the African Union (AU) to seek U.N. Security
Council support for their plan to take on insurgents who are fighting
to create an Islamic state in northern Nigeria.

Boko Haram has made incursions into neighbouring Cameroon and
threatens the stability of a region that includes Niger and Chad.
Benin lies on Nigeria's western border.

"We are thinking of a force of 7,500 women and men. The next step is
to submit (approval) to the U.N. Security Council," the Commissioner
of the AU's Peace and Security Council, Smail Chergui, told reporters
on the sidelines of an African summit in Addis Ababa.

Tackling Boko Haram was top of the agenda at the meeting of African
leaders and officials.

"Hopefully now with this concept, this force will be better organised
and we can achieve the goal that we are looking for, that is to really
stop the killing and these barbaric acts of Boko Haram," Chergui said.

A U.N. mandate could help draw international assistance for the
African regional force.

The African group plans to meet next week in Cameroon to draw up a
"concept of operations" to cover strategy, rules of engagement,
command and control, and related issues, Chergui said.

Senior officials have told Reuters that each of the five nations would
contribute a battalion and each contingent would be based within its
national borders with operations coordinated from Chad's capital,
N'Djamena.

Boko Haram has seized control of parts of north-east Nigeria and
killed thousands in a six-year insurgency.

On Thursday, President Goodluck Jonathan visited Adamawa, one of three
states placed under a state of emergency because of the insurgency.

Speaking in the state capital, Yola, he said the army had just
recaptured the town of Michika, leaving only one of Adamawa's Local
Government Areas, Madagali, in the hands of militants.

Military sources told the BBC there had been a fierce battle for
Michika and troops were carrying out mopping-up operations in
surrounding villages. They cautioned that it was too early to say the
army was in full control of the area.

Breast Cancer: "All Lumps Are Guilty Until Proven Cancer Free"

An estimated 20,000 breast cancer cases are recorded in Nigeria
annually. Only annual screening guarantees prevention of untimely
death. Today, more Nigerian women are aware of their breast health and
breast cancer; however, some damaging myths exist that misinform on
the benefits of early detection and seeking prompt care. In
commemoration of the World Cancer Day, Sebbeccly Cancer Care is
dispelling common myths around the disease by promoting breast
awareness, and helping people understand the benefits of early
detection and treatment.

It is a death sentence
Truth: Being diagnosed with breast cancer is not a death sentence.
With the scientific and social progress in breast cancer care, more
women are surviving breast cancer in Nigeria and worldwide. A lot of
Nigerian women after treatment are able to resume work and normal
activities, get pregnant, have children and live a happy life.
Mortality rate in Nigeria is high because of the late stage at
presentation, survivorship barriers (affordability, accessibility and
availability of cancer care) and the aggressive biology of breast
cancer. When breast cancer is detected early, the chance of surviving
the disease is high.

It is contagious

Truth: No way, breast cancer is not contagious; it doesn't spread
from one person to person. You can hold hands, hug, sit and talk
together with someone living with breast cancer.

No one in my family has breast cancer therefore I'm not at risk

Truth: Every woman has some risk of developing breast cancer. Majority
(70-80 percent) of women who have breast cancer do not have a known
family history or an identifiable risk factor. Even if no one in your
family has ever been diagnosed, that's no excuse to skip your yearly
mammogram. It's important all women over 40 years old be screened for
breast cancer. A few women have a family history where at least two
relatives such as a mother, aunt or male relative have been diagnosed
with breast cancer: such women have an increased risk of breast cancer
and they should visit their doctors to discuss risk reduction and
intervention.

There is nothing I can do about breast cancer control

Truth: There is a lot that you can do at an individual, community and
policy level to help women be breast aware and support access to
cancer care. As an individual, being informed, avoiding
tobacco, maintaining ahealthy body weight, eating right, getting enough
exercise, and gettingappropriatecancer screening testscan all make a
significant difference.

I don't have the right to cancer care

Truth: All people have the right to access proven and effective cancer
treatments and services on equal terms, and without suffering hardship
as a consequence. Before starting treatment, do your research, ensure
your hospital is equipped and you have the right health care
professionals (breast surgeon, surgical and radiation
oncologists).Sebeccly Cancer Care is committed to improving cancer
care.

Breast cancer surgery could cause death and makes the cancer to spread

Truth: This myth may have started many decades ago when patients with
cancer already had advanced stages of the disease by the time they
sought medical care. Doctors who operated to diagnose the illness may
have found advanced cancer that could not be treated successfully, so
when patients died a short time later, observers claimed surgery
caused the spread of cancer cells, ultimately killing the patient.

Breast surgeons/surgical oncologists are doctors highly trained in the
intricacies of cancer surgery and anatomy. Patients and their loved
ones should not delay or refuse surgery, which is an effective
treatment.

Government hospitals are not equipped to treat cancer, most patients die there

Truth: While the Government hospitals have their challenges, currently
they are amongst the best places for patients to receive care because
of the specialists and facilities available there. It is common for
patients who have received care in various places with no success to
present to the Government hospitals as a last resort and in these
situations; the option of treating with intent to cure is low.

Painful breast lumps are not breast cancer

Truth: Generally breast cancer lumps are painless, but pain alone
cannot rule out cancer. Some women also believe that a painless lump
must not be cancer. This is not true. There's no correlation between
whether the lump is painful and whether it's cancerous. There is a
popular saying amongst cancer specialists 'All lumps are guilty, until
proven otherwise' therefore it doesn't matter if the lump is painful
or not or that you are in your 20's; if you notice a breast lump,
visit your doctor immediately.

Read What Buhari's Wife Is Telling Nigerian Women

Aishatu Buhari, wife of the presidential candidate of the All
Progressive Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerian
women to work for peaceful general election.

Aishatu who made the call on Friday in Yola, Adamawa State capital
while addressing an APC Women Presidential Campaign Initiative town
hall meeting, urged women to work for peaceful general election.

Premium Times reports that Mrs Buhari, who was represented by Zainab
Nyako, said women have a critical role to play towards a peaceful
election and victory of APC at all levels.

"It is also imperative, for us to educate our party members on
peaceful conduct before, during and after elections. We should avoid
violence in all its ramifications because this is one area that the
ruling party is looking up to discredit the efforts and successes of
our party,"Mrs. Nyako said.

Mrs Nyako, however, reiterated the need for voter's education and
called on women coordinators of Buhari campaign organization in the
state and local government areas to storm door to door as well as
person to person soliciting for votes.

Speaking also at the campaign rally, Faith Pukuma, Adamawa Coordinator
of the Women Presidential Campaign Initiative, and Adamawa APC Women
Leader, Hauwa Koma, reassured their commitment to the party's women to
mobilized voters for APC.

The women leaders vowed to handle Adamawa State campaign with strength
because it is the home state of Aishatu Buhari.

Meanwhile, the lingering issue on proposed debate between President
Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari has continued to sail on, especially as
Murtala Muhammed Foundation (MMF) has provided the two major
presidential candidates with another opportunity to participate in the
debates ahead of next month's elections.

Nollywood: FG Splashes Another N2bn Fund

Four years after President Goodluck Jonathan released N3 billion
intervention fund to support the Nigerian movie industry, the federal
government has launched another laudable project geared towards
boosting the industry. Tagged, "Project ACT Nollywood", it's the
presidential intervention programme set up to improve technical and
professional capacity in the value chain of the Nigerian movie
industry.

The project is expected to tackle the major challenge working against
the optimum development of the sector - a poor distribution system and
menace of piracy. To achieve this ambitious objective, the federal
government last week launched N2 billion Innovation Distribution Fund,
IDF, aimed at improving the distribution of audio-visual content, cut
down on piracy, and to better protect intellectual property in the
industry.

The IDF is targeted at the businesses that operate or plan to operate
in the film distribution space. The ultimate objective is to make
pirated copies of Nollywood movies unattractive to consumers by
ensuring that genuine products are easily available at a multiplicity
of accessible points.

This is to ensure that those who put their efforts into film
production are properly rewarded.

The core plan is a market driven approach which will boost the number
and quality of distribution options through strategic co-financing of
new channels and supporting the expansion of available ones.

These could include technology-based solutions such as digital
streaming, enablers of effective distribution, movie exhibition
infrastructure and physical distribution.

According to a statement issued in Abuja by the Special Adviser, Media
to CME, Mr. Paul C Nwabuikwu, applications for the distribution fund
are welcome through the Project ACT online web portal which will be
operational for a two month period starting January 19, 2015.

INEC Declares 14,000 PVCs Missing In Rivers

About14,000 Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs have been declared missing by
the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Rivers state.

Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mrs Gesila Khan who
disclosed this yesterday in Port Harcourt, said some of the missing
cards were stolen at the local government collection centers where
they were kept to be distributed.

While appealing to those with the cards to return them, the state INEC
boss said there was no way they could be of use to those holding them
illegally. According to her, the electoral body was going to use a new
device called card readers to identify owners of PVC before they can
be used to vote.

Continuing, she said the number of missing PVCs in Rivers was the
highest in the country.

" Am appealing to Rivers people because we have lost a lot of cards.
We have lost more than 14,000 PVCs and it's one of the highest figures
in the federation".

All the cards that are being snatched are useless and meaningless
because we are going to use a new system called card readers. Your
card readers are just like ATM cards. You take it there and they slot
it into the card reader to confirm if it is yours before you are
allowed to vote".

So, if you go there with another person's voter's card, it is
meaningless. So, I am advising those of you with other peoples' cards
to return them to the local government offices so that the rightful
owners can collect them so that they can participate in the general
election.

"Polling officer will on the presentation of the PVC by an electorate
be slotted into the card reader to confirm if it belongs to you. The
next stage is the confirmation of your finger prints by the card
reader before you are allowed to vote."

If you go to the polling booth with someone else's voters' card, you
would not be able to vote because each card is unique and can only be
authenticated by the real owner. The PVC's are meaningless to those
who have stolen them".

Day Owerri Bishop Preached His Ideology To Buhari

The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari, Governors Rochas Okorocha and Rotimi Amaechi of Imo
and Rivers States, as well as formers governors of Lagos, Anambra and
Abia States, Bola Tinubu, Dr. Chris Ngige and Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, were
recently in Owerri on campaign.

These chieftains and other notable figures of the APC took some time
off their schedule and paid a courtesy call on the Catholic Archbishop
of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony
J.V. Obinna. Vintage Obinna exploited the opportunity to tell his
guests his Nigerian story.

Speaking earlier, Gen. Buhari appealed to everybody to go for their
permanent voters cards, as well as vote according to the dictate of
their conscience.

"We are going round to tell Nigerians to get their permanent voters
cards ready, to go out and vote and to make sure that it counts. He
said that there has been continued dilapidation of the country's
infrastructure, education, health care and the most serious among this
is power. "Millions of Dollars, not Naira, have been spent but nothing
to show for it", Buhari told Archbishop Obinna.

In his own short remark, the former governor of Lagos State, Bola
Tinubu, pleaded with the Archbishop to beg politicians to stop playing
politics with religion, stressing that no nation that passed through
this lane survived.

"Poverty has no religious or tribal mark. Some people, who fail in
many areas try to hide under religion. The clergy should continue to
discourage politicians from playing politics with religion", Tinubu
said.

For Senator Chris Ngige, Nigeria is on the verge of vanishing and the
church has a role to play in promoting good leadership.
Lending his voice during the visit, the former governor of Abia State,
Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, disclosed that APC is committed to good governance,
adding that the party will ensure that everyone elected abides by
this. He finally appealed that APC should be given a chance to execute
their programmes.

ARCHBISHOP OBINNA RESPONDS

"When I heard you (Buhari) were coming, I went back to my PhD thesis,
which I defended in January 1984, and I want to read a part of what I
wrote just a few days after the coup d'état of December 31, 1983.

"In 1960, the British colonial government relinquished the
administration of Nigeria. On January 15, 1966, a military coup d'état
ended the rule of the Nigerian leadership, which took over from the
British. Corruption was the declared reason for the coup. This coup
then led to a three-year civil war, 1967-1970.

"A military coup d'état in 1975 ended the leadership of General Yakubu
Gowon, a military head of state. In 1979, the military handed back
power to a civilian regime. As I was putting finishing touches to this
study, the news of another military coup came. In effect, President
Shehu Shagari and the civilian leadership were overthrown on charges
of the same ineptness and corruption, which he had earlier decried and
in the face of which he had called for an ethical revolution. A new
military head of state, Muhammadu Buhari, now presides over Nigeria.
Where we go from here is yet uncertain. . .

"On December 31st 1983, a moral crisis in Nigeria gave way to a
military coup d'état. In his broadcast to the nation on the reasons
for the coup, which toppled the civilian government presided over by
Shagari, the new military leader of the nation, Muhammadu Buhari, said
that the army seized power in order to put an end to the serious
economic predicament and the crisis of confidence now afflicting our
nation.

"Corruption had attended unprecedented heights under Shagari", said
Buhari, dismissing as rigged, the August election that gave Shagari a
second four-year term. "There is ample evidence that rigging and
thuggery were relative to the resources available to each of the
country's now banned six political parties". Buhari added that his
government would not operate kick backs, manipulated contracts or
over-invoicing, nor would it condone forgery, fraud and embezzlement.

After reading a portion of his doctoral thesis, the Archbishop then
asked his visitors: "Have we moved forward or backwards from this
point?"

Okorocha Not Sincere About FG's Projects In Imo --Onwuliri

Prof Viola Onwuliri, Minister of State for Education, is a
thorough-bred professional who has carved a niche for herself as a
leading light in President Goodluck Jonathan's cabinet. In this
interview with Emmanuel Nwagboniwe, she spoke on the Federal
government's achievements in the educational sector and how these
feats have impacted on the states. She also faulted Governor Rochas
Okorocha's penchant for claiming credit for Federal Government
executed projects in Imo all in the name of politics.

ON her experience as Minister of State 1 for Foreign Affairs, before
moving to the Education Ministry

It was very exciting and one learnt a lot about international
politics, and the world of diplomacy. One was also happy that I was
able to talk for my country and represent her in different fora
internationally and nationally in different multilateral settings and
bilateral; we linked up many countries and signed pacts with them. And
that is why in all organizations we belonged to, we vied for elections
and won as board members and governing council members as the case may
be. The key to that was our re-election to the United Nations Security
Council for the fifth time. That election was significant because it
marked the end of our exit from the UN Security Council. We got 186
out of 191 votes.

It was an affirmation of the efforts of President Goodluck Jonathan
and the reaffirmation that Nigeria has come of age. While in Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, l was able to make more Ambassadors in- situ with
the kind approval of the President, I made 32 of them in one day. We
also won election into the Committee of World Democracy Nations. I was
able to sign two bilateral agreements; between Nigeria and Israel, as
well as between Nigeria and Turkey. Turkey was the last assignment l
had; with that, Turkey Airways can now fly into Abuja and Enugu while
increasing the frequencies into Lagos and Kano. I also made our first
Albino Ambassador, Uche Ajulu Okeke who was made Consul General to
Johannesburg through the generous endorsement of the President who
operates a non discriminatory policy in the running of the country. We
were applauded for this unique and the Albino Foundation Worldwide
gave me an award as an Albinism Ambassador for the elevation of one
of their own. It was also interesting and tasking assignment , as
you were travelling with the President as he met with other world
leaders. We also met with His Holiness Pope Francis, and he prayed for
us. In all, l can say that Foreign Affairs was very good and we did
our best.

On significant differences in Education Ministry compared to former ministry

Well, in education, you are working within and with different
categories of staff, teachers, students. There is a lot to do at home,
and that is what education tells us. In terms of ensuring quality of
teaching, ensuring that school materials get to the students. In my
new assignment, we have continued to battle them as we are working
towards training and retraining of teachers and repairing destroyed
structures. In the Education Ministry, we have these various projects
under Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and TETFUND in
addition to other agencies; National Mass Literacy, Nomadic Education
etc. There is no community in the country which UBEC has not touched,
building classrooms of various types and categories.

How does the Education Ministry partner with State Governments to
ensure that this transformation in the education sector gets to the
grassroots?

We work with state governments closely in this area. The UBEC has
built classroom blocks across the country, and I can confidently say
again that there is hardly any community in Nigeria where UBEC has not
built a block of classroom, water borehole in schools. You know basic
education is actually the responsibility of state governments; we have
only come to intervene and help them make it work, because these are
Nigerian students as well.

On the recent disagreement with the Imo State government over Federal
Government projects in the State

There was not supposed to be any disagreement of the many federal
government executed projects in Imo State, but Imo State Governor,
Rochas Okorocha appears very mischievous over the issue . The
Universal Basic Education (UBE) through its intervention projects
built up some projects in the state but the governor claims he
executed them.

Jimi Agbaje Replies Tax Evasion Accusation From Gov. Fashola

Lagos state Governor,Fashola has accused the state's PDP gubernatorial
candidate, Jimi Agbaje of tax evasion. While speaking at the 8th
Annual Stakeholder Taxation Conference in Ikeja yesterday, Jan. 28th,
Fashola said Agbaje's pharmaceutical company, JayKay pharmacy has not
paid the state govt four years Land Use Charge, LUC, tax.

"LUC is ground rent and tenement rate as they were consolidated. I
know that you have to vote next month but look at that candidate that
would need to take over from me and be careful of who to vote for. You
will remember that in 2007, he (Agbaje) claimed that he was in DPA and
later crossed to PDP. You know that he manages a pharmacy called
Jaykay Pharmacy, located at 9, Randle Close, Apapa. His pharmacy has
not paid land Use Charge for 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

"They paid in 2013 and 2014 because they discovered that the election
would be holding in 2015. His pharmacy owes this state N1, 629,
064.62. Let us do that mathematics to see how many facilities that
funds would have provided in our hospitals and stationary in our
schools. But this was the same person who was complaining that the
state government spent three percent of its budget on education. Local
Government is responsible for the management of the primary schools
and yet he has withheld their taxes. This is the man who wants to be
your next governor. And I will advice you that you avoid deception and
tax evader," he said.

Jimi Agbage reached out through his Jimi Agbaje's media director,
Felix Oboagwina and replied the Governor on the issue at hand.

Read his reply below:

"Mr. Jimi Agbaje expresses surprise at this rather personal and
unprovoked attack against his person by Governor Raji Fashola. Just in
January, the Commissioner for Finance sent a personal letter to Mr.
Agbaje, commending him for his faithfulness in payment of taxes
relating to his residence.

"It is a curious contradiction that several days later, the Governor
himself would express sentiments clearly in contradiction to the
spirit and letter of that voluntary and unsolicited commendation from
the state.

"Are they feeling the heat of Agbaje and PDP's impending victory in
the state, or how does one explain this recourse to personal attacks
recently embarked upon by chieftains of APC?

"Although he founded JayKay Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Agbaje left the
directorship of the company in 2006, and this is on record with the
state. He is no longer involved in the running of the company. And
today, he is not even an Executive Director.

"We have a letter signed by Ayo Gbeleyi, Honourable Commissioner for
Finance in Lagos State, where Agbaje received commendations for
fulfilling his tax obligations. The letter from the Ministry says: "A
review of our payment records from 2011 shows that you have been
consistent with the payment of Land Use Charge on the above property
(Agbaje's residence in Apapa).

"The Lagos State Government wishes to express its appreciation to you
on your consistent fulfilment of your civil responsibility and your
singular contribution towards the development of the state.

"We look forward to your continued cooperation in this regard."

It will be recalled that the Governor only about two weeks ago said
that Agbaje was too old to be Governor, although the PDP Candidate is
only 57.

This fresh outburst amounts to another futile attempt at mudslinging
by a desperado group that is up against a formidable opponent, and it
has only succeeded in staining the source.

Lagosians should be wary of APC and its bag of tricks.

FELIX OBOAGWINA
DIRECTOR OF MEDIA AND PUBLICITY TO MR. JIMI AGBAJE, PDP GOVERNORSHIP
CANDIDATE FOR LAGOS STATE

Youths Pelt Jonathan's Convoy With Stones In Taraba

President Goodluck Jonathan's convoy was again stoned on Thursday by
some aggrieved youths in Jalingo, Taraba State.
Jonathan was in the city in continuation of the Peoples Democratic
Party's presidential rally.

His convoy had before Thursday been stoned in Katsina and Bauchi
states when he went to seek the votes for his re-election bid.

It was gathered that the windscreens and windows of some of the
vehicles on the convoy were destroyed before security operatives
used tear gas and horsewhips to disperse the youths.

Those who witnessed the Thursday incident but pleaded anonymity
toldThe PUNCHthat the incident occurred when the President's convoy
was going to the palace of the Emir of Muri, Abass Tafida, from the
airport.

One of them said, "Security agents ensured that people were moved very
far from the main but at a point, the convoy got to a particular
village where the youths became restive.

"Before we knew what was happening, they started stoning the convoy."

It however could not be determined as of press time if anyone in the
convoy was hurt or any arrests made.

A Punch correspondent reports that Jonathan, who was unruffled by the
incident, used the opportunity of his visit to the state to meet with
ailing Governor Danbaba Suntai.

Suntai has been unable to return to work since he was involved in a
plane crash in October 2012.

The PUNCH learnt that Jonathan met with Suntai inside the Government
House, Jalingo.

But while Jonathan was busy campaigning, another set of angry youths
descended on the state PDP secretariat in Jalingo.

It took the intervention of security agents to save the edifice from
being reduced to rubble by the angry youths who vandalised 12 vehicles
on the premises.

The spokesman for the PDP in the state, Napoleon Adamu, who lamented
the incident, said the youths were protesting their non-inclusion in
the preparation for Jonathan's visit.

He expressed anger that despite the Abuja accord signed by all the
presidential candidates , some elements could still go as far as
attacking members of the party.

He said, "We are happy that no life was lost and we want to appeal to
our teeming youths to eschew violence and not to take the law into
their own hands.

"Even before the date the President's campaign was fixed, the youths
had been complaining that they were not carried along by the
committees constituted for the visit."

At the state stadium campaign ground, Jonathan said he would ensure
the completion of both the Kashimbila Dam and the Mambilla Hydro Power
projects in the state if re-elected.

He added that plans were on to establish a presidential resort at
Mambilla to attract top government functionaries and business moguls
to the state.

Jonathan later moved to Yola, Adamawa State, where he again assured
the people that Michika and Madagali Local government Areas would
be recaptured by the military from Boko Haram.

Jonathan told the crowd that his administration would provide funds
to enable those affected by insurgency to rebuild their houses and
live a meaningful life.

Making inferences about insinuations in certain quarters that he was
going about seeking re-election when Boko Haram was intensifying its
attacks on parts of the North-East, the President urged the people to
disregard such.

"No human being with his right senses, except a mad man, will
encourage the insurgents to attack and kill people for political
purposes while he is going about looking for votes," Jonathan said at
the Mahmud Ribadu Square venue of the rally.

"No political leader will compromise his stance and connive with
terrorists under whatever circumstances to declare war on his
country," he added.

Calling on the electorate to have confidence in the leadership of the
PDP for accelerated development, Jonathan warned Nigerians against
playing politics with insecurity.

He said that his administration was "disturbed by the insurgents'
activities" and added that it was mad for political opponents to
claim that he was not doing much to end the insurgency which,
according to him, is a global phenomenon.

"This type of allegation from politicians who campaign to garner votes
from the electorate amounts to madness. People should disregard
such insinuations because they are aimed at derailing our
democracy," Jonathan added.

He advised the people to also vote for the PDP governorship candidate
in the state, Nuhu Ribadu, whom, he said, would use his position to
fight Boko Haram.

A PDP topshot and a former Petroleum Minister, Prof. Jibril Aminu;
former acting Governor Umaru Fintiri; and the Senate President,
David Mark, jointly called on the electorate to vote for Jonathan.

Shakira And Gerard Pique Welcome Second Son

The Hips Don't Lie singer has another baby boy with the Barcelona
footballer, her partner of four years.

Shakira and FC Barcelona playerGerard Piquéwelcomed a baby boy
Thursday night, Barcelona time.

The Colombian superstar had her baby on schedule by Cesarean section
in a Barcelona hospital, according to reports citing a statement from
the couple, which first appeared on goal.com and other sports Web
sites.

Shakira & Gerard Piqué Invite Fans to 'World Baby Shower' for Second Son

Shakira, 37, and Piqué, 27, had reserved an entire floor for the birth
at the Teknon clinic, which is in an upscale neighborhood. The
couple's other son Milan, who turned two on Jan. 22, was delivered at
the same hospital by the same doctor. Amid speculations that Shakira's
second baby was about to be born, the private hospital in the usually
quiet area was surrounded by paparazzi for several days.

The name of the baby was not immediately known, but a Spanish radio DJ
and friend of Piqué announced earlier this week that it could beAndrea
o Sacha.

Last week, Shakira and Piqué invited fans to contribute to their
on-line World Baby Shower to benefit UNICEF's programs for children.

"Motherhood is everything to me," Shakira said in a recent interview
with Spain's El Pais newspaper.
Shakira is next expected to "give birth" to a new album this spring. A

Boko Haram: Don't Commit Suicide, Sambo Tells Buhari

Vice-President Namadi Sambo on Thursday advised the APC presidential
candidate, retired Maj.-Gen.Muhammadu Buhari, against committing
suicide by planning to personally lead the war against Boko Haram
terrorists, if elected president.

Sambo gave the advice at the PDP Presidential Rally in Yola, Adamawae.

The vide president said his advice was against the backdrop of the
advice given to Buhari by his presidential running mate to personally
lead the war against Boko Haram if elected President in next month's
presidential election.

Sambo urged Buhari to ignore the advice from the APC vice presidential
candidate, adding that any attempt by Buhari to lead such war would
amount to a "suicide mission" in view of his age.

According to him, the APC should allow President Jonathan to continue
to adopt "a more scientific and modern" warfare in tackling the menace
of the Boko Haram insurgency.

"I want to seize this opportunity to draw our attention to a
publication, last week, credited to the vice-presidential candidate of
the APC that their plan is to ask their presidential candidate,
retired Maj-Gen. Buhari, to lead the war against Boko Haram.

"I want to ask you a question, a retired 73-year-old General - can he run? No!

"Okay, let's assume that he can run; how many metres can he run before
he falls? The training of a General that retired in 1985 is it the
same training that can address a modern war? No!

"Now we are fighting war with drones, with new ideas that our
President, a PhD holder, a scientist that is using (his knowledge) to
address the security issues of this country.

He described the paln as a suicidal proposal, asking "will he (Buhari)
go with a suicidal proposal?"

The vice-president urged the electorate to support President Goodluck
Jonathan, saying Jonathan was the answer to the nation's security and
the answer to its development.

Sambo reassured that the PDP-led administration would continue to do
its best in addressing the nation's security challenges across the
country.

On the developmental efforts of administration, Sambo said that the
President had earmarked funds for the completion of two hydro-power
dams in Adamawa.

"I want to give you this good news that Mr President has approved the
development and completion of Kiri Dam and Jada Dam.

"All these Dams will be provided with hydro-electricity power and an
irrigation scheme, with which we are developing economic corridors in
Adamawa state.

"In addition to that, in the transport sector, I have good news for
you. Mr President has approved the dredging of River Benue.Very soon,
we will have a river port and ships and boats from different parts of
the world will be here in Yola.''

Sambo then urged the electorate in the state to ensure that they
obtain their PVCs to enable them to vote for President Goodluck
Jonathan and all other PDP candidates in the Feb. 14 and 28 general
elections.

In his remarks, a chieftain of the PDP and a former Minister, Sen.
Jubril Aminu, said Adamawa people had resolved to vote for
Jonathana/Sambo ticket as well as other PDP candidates in the state
during the February elections.

Imo Guber: Okorocha's Kinsmen Vow To Vote Ihedioha

About 5,000 supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC) and All
Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from Ideato North and Ideato South
Local Government Areas of Imo State have defected to the Peoples
Domocratic Party (PDP).

They have resolved to vote massively for the PDP governorship
candidate and Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka
Ihedioha. The decamps, who accused the governor of non-performance,
were led by the governor's in-law, Chief Chinedu Okoro, a former
chieftain of the APC. They made the declaration during the state-wide
rallies held in the areas by Chief Ihedioha.

Speaking among other leaders at the rally, the Chairman of National
Population Commission and former Chairman of state's PDP, Chief Eze
Duruiheoma (SAN) said, ''Gov. Okorocha is our brother but we must rise
above sentiments if our state and indeed Nigeria, must make progress.
The truth is that Okorocha has disappointed and disappointed us with
his poor leadership.

We have embraced Emeka Ihedeioha, the PDP standardbearer because of
his experience, transparency and track record of service and we are
sure that he will as usual deliver the dividends of democracy to Imo
people.''

Addressing the crowd of party supporters and APC defectors, former
governor of the state and Presidential Campaign Coordinator for Imo,
Chief Achike Udenwa, said Gov. Okorocha has not only strangulated the
state economy, but has breached an agreement reached with him for a
single term of four years and relinquish power.

He reiterated the need to support Hon. Ihedioha as governor in next
month's election, pointing out that it is the turn of Owerri zone to
produce the Governor this time since other zones have had theirs.

"Helicopters Drop Arms, Food For Boko Haram" --Displaced Citizens Of Monguno

Displaced residents of Monguno, in Borno State, which was recently
taken over by Boko Haram, have said they saw helicopters dropping arms
and food items for the insurgents in the bushes.

The IDPs, who said they spent about 48 hours in the bush running
towards Maiduguri, expressed worry that the Boko Haram sect was not
the only ones involved in the insurgency, but that there are many
foreign fighters and some external supports.

Leader of the Nigeria Vigilante Group in Monguno, Muhammed Sani,50,
said he had, on several occasions, spotted unusual delivery of items
in big wooden boxes by air, and sacks being dropped in the bushes
around Marte and Monguno where Boko Haram terrorists were camped.

"Even during the attack on Monguno, there was an aircraft that came
but did not do anything, not even dropping a single bomb before it
left; then another one later came around the Monguno barracks and we
saw four men alighting from the aircraft, using a rope. The aircraft
left, but we doubt if they were soldiers.

"Even before then, some of my colleagues and I have been sighting
helicopters dropping items in sacks and some in boxes to them at the
camp of Boko Haram near Chikungudu and Kwalaram villages. Many
helicopters came to drop items packed in boxes and sacks to the Boko
Haram insurgents at a bush camp between Monguno and Marte; then we
would see the Boko Haram gunmen rushing to the spot to pick the
dropped items," he stated.

The displaced vigilante officials said those that attacked Monguno
comprised hundreds of foreigners who looked like Chadians.

"Many of them looked like Chadian Arabs - they were light-skinned with
coiled hair, and there were many young men from Monguno - who Boko
Haram had abducted when Nganzai was attacked last year - that were now
active members of the sect.

"While Boko Haram members that are former youths of Monguno were
leading other insurgents to attack Monguno town, the foreigners were
the ones engaging soldiers near the barracks," he explained.

Sani, who said he had lived in Monguno for the past 20 years, said he
fled amidst the hail of bullets when the terrorists became irritated
by his anti-bullet charms that rendered bullets ineffective. His shirt
and trousers were riddled by bullets, yet he remained unhurt, he said.

The recent online polls conducted by AIT, to find out how each
presidential candidate will fare in the 2015 elections was hacked. The
polls were going normally until there was a sharp influx of voting
which suddenly crashed the site, so in the bid to fix the problem, the
following was discovered.

At the same,it should be remembered that the DSS had bursted 2 APC

that pay online Hackers to monitor the Cyberspace. These centres should
be originators of the forged statement of result and the doctored

APC Withdrew From Presidential Debate To Save Buhari --Okupe

The Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public
Affairs, Doyin Okupe has taken a swipe at the presidential candidate
of the All Progressive Party, APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and his party
for boycotting the presidential debate organised by the Nigeria
Election Debate Group (NEDG).

Okupe said APC boycotted the debate to save Buhari from shame, as he
does not have record of performance, education and eloquency needed
for a debate to match President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP.

He made this known on his twitter page. "If APC didn't withdraw from
the debate they would have been stupid. Their candidate has no record
of performance. Neither is he educated nor eloquent".

Meanwhile the Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media,
Reno Omokri, has urged Buhari to participate in the debate, by
starting a hashtag #Buharimustdebate, which has generated over 100
retweets.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Thursday, says it will not
participate in the ongoing public debates on national television and
radio stations organised by the Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG).
It alleged that the Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG),
co-ordinating the debate, was fraught with fundamental errors from the
outset, according to a statement signed by Malam Garba Shehu, the
Director Media and Publicity of the APC Campaign Organisation.

The statement said it decision to boycot the debates "is because of
the unhidden bias and campaign of calumny by some key organisers of
the programme against the corporate political interest of the party
and its candidates".

Buhari Will Not Participate In BON Presidential Debate --APC

APC says it's presidential candidate Gen Buhari will not be
participating in the presidential debate being organized by the
Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria BON and the Nigeria Election
Debate Group (NEDG) .

In a statement released today January 29th by Garna Shehu, the
Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign
Organisation (APCPCO), they said Buhari will not be participating in
the debate as the composition of those organizing the debate was
mainly of agencies and allies of the incumbent People's Democratic
Party's (PDP) administration.

The statement reads in part;

"A cursory inspection of the composition of NEGD brings into focus the
Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), National Television
Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the
Africa Independent Television (AIT, owned by a PDP chieftain). And
going by the avalanche of inflammatory statements, misinformation and
blatant lies being propagated by some of these media against our Party
and candidates contrary to the Kofi Annan brokered Abuja Peace Accord,
and the failure of these aggressors to desist and apologise, have left
the APC Campaign with no option than to steer clear of any
premeditated smear campaign that could be inimical to our prospective
electoral success,".

Complainants In Certificate Suit Against Buhari Allege Threat To Life

The complainants who filed a suit against the presidential candidate
of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.),
on Tuesday alleged threat to their lives by unknown persons.

They filed a direct criminal complaint against Buhari before a Federal
Capital Territory Magistrate's Court in Abuja, asking the court to
direct that the former Head of State "be brought to book" for
allegedly claiming on oath that he had a certificate he did not
obtain.

They addressed journalists at their lawyer's office in Abuja on
Wednesday. But they said they had yet to report the case to the
police.

They also declined to supply details of the telephone calls and text
messages through which the threat was allegedly issued, as it could
compromise the police investigation when the matter is reported.

The four complainants are Shield Ufot, Jimmy David, Ogueri Enwerem and
Tochukwu Okorie.

Ufot said on Wednesday that the suit was filed on behalf of the Niger
Delta Salvation Front.

Speaking on behalf of his clients, their lawyer, Ezekiel Ugochukwu,
said the threat would not deter them from pursuing the case to
conclusion.

He said, "As you already know, my clients filed a direct criminal
complaint at the Magistrate's Court of the FCT to bring Gen. Muhammadu
Buhari to book in respect of criminal action of deposing to an
affidavit on oath which obviously turned out to be false.

"Since we filed that suit, we have received a lot of threats from
different angles, demanding that we withdraw the suit or face severe
consequences.

"We are not deterred and we will never be deterred. As we said before,
if it is to shut us up that they sent threat to us, they have failed.
We are facing the issues as they are. And it is for the good of our
country."

Ufot, while fielding questions from journalists, said he had received
threat through telephone call and text message twice.

He said his co-complainants were preparing to report the threats to the police.

He also reiterated their readiness to pursue the case to the Supreme Court.

Ufot said, "We really want to stop him from attempting to occupy the
highest office in our country. Buhari did not have any certificate. He
did not write the school certificate examination in 1961. If he did,
it is not the school principal that issues certificate. It is
Cambridge /WASC that issues certificate. We challenge him to come up
with a certificate, not a bogus paper from any village headmaster. And
we are determined to take this case to even the Supreme Court."

Bird Flu Now In Imo And 10 Other States --FG

Controversy Trails Suspected Blast At Ohanaeze's Enugu Secretariat

Residents of Enugu has been gripped by anxiety over a suspected bomb
attack at the national secretariat of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the town.

The suspected explosion reportedly took place during the weekend but
led to tension in the Coal City as news of the incident became public
on Tuesday.

The explosion, which was said to be the handiwork of suspected
arsonists, armed with improvised explosives devices, destroyed some
parts of the building.

PUNCH correspondent, who visited the secretariat, observed that the
ceiling of the main hall, where major meetings of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo
takes place, was particularly affected by the fire which allegedly
followed the explosion.

It was gathered that the fire was subsequently put off by security
personnel at the secretariat, who were at the location when the
incident occurred.

One of the security men, who pleaded anonymity, said they chased away
the arsonists, who set off the explosion.

He explained that the arsonists, who had sneaked into the building,
fled after they were discovered, leaving behind items suspected to be
IEDs, including cans of petrol and a bucket containing substances
suspected to be carbide.

No life was lost in the incident but it was gathered that the
explosion went off with a bang which rocked the entire vicinity.

The explosion will heighten tensions within the leadership of Ohanaeze
Ndigbo, where the Elders Council is locked in a bitter dispute with
the Chief Enwo Igariwey-led National Executive Committee over tenure
in office.

The elders, led by elder statesman, Chief Mbazuluike Amechi, are
insisting that the executive committee's tenure in office is two
years, but the NEC is saying that the duration of its stay in office
had been extended to four years, after a review carried out by the
last administration.

Speaking to our correspondent on Tuesday, the Secretary General of
Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Joe Nworgu, noted that reports of the incident
had been blown out of proportion.

However, he admitted that the masterminds had yet to be identified, as
the police were still investigating the matter.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, Ebere
Amaraizu, said there was no bomb explosion at the secretariat.

He, however, admitted that there was an attempt to bomb the building.
