Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, who joined micro-blogging site,
Twitter on Wednesday, 2nd December, has attracted 4,642 followers as
at 21:30 on Friday, 11th December.
The official handle, @GEJ_Official, is yet to be verified by Twitter
but his former aide on New Media, Reno Omokri, confirmed the
authenticity of the account in a tweet.
"After personally speaking with ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, I
hereby confirm that the handle @GEJ_Official is his only genuine
handle," he posted on his twitter handle.
A check on the handle reveals that President Jonathan is following
only six accounts, namely President Barrack Obama of the United States
of America;Alassane D. Ouattara of Ivory Coast; John Mahama of Ghana
and Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya. Others are the GEJ Foundation and Jimmy
Carter Library.
Surprisingly, the former president is not following any handle
associated with Nigeria, not, even, the handle of his political party,
the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The PDP is also not following the last
president elected on its platform as at the time this story was published.
He has made 14 tweets.

Prophet Reveals What Buhari-led FG Will Do To Christians
Apostle Johnson Suleman, a prominent prophet based in Edo state, has
said that he predicted the death of the former Kogi state governor
Abubakar Audu.
In a chat with Vanguard, Suleman, the founder of the Edo-based Omega
Fire and Miracles Ministries also has said that the President
Muhammadu Buhari-led administration will fight Christians.
During the interview, he said:"I want to start with the latest, and
that was the death of Abubakar Audu in the Kogi State election. I was
at a crusade in our Houston Texas branch on November 7, 2015, when God
revealed to me that a popular politician in Nigeria could die in the
middle of an election.
"I told the nation. Then there was the event on September 20, 2015
when I said I saw that there was going to be fresh bombings in Borno
and I asked Nigerians to go into prayer. Many had believed that with
the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari to power, the Boko Haram
bombings were going to stop but God said not yet.
"Also, on Sunday October 25, 2015, I told the world that I saw an
aircraft of a foreign nation crashing with no casualty. That later
happened to be Dynamic Airways which caught fire but no life was
lost."
While speaking on what the newly constituted administration will do to
Christians in the country, he said:"All the events where these
prophecies were announced were aired live on our ministry's
Celebration TV. On May 29, 2015, God spoke through me and I said it
that the Buhari government would fight churches. Not long after, the
Kaduna State governor, El-Rufai, shut down a church in Kaduna.
"This particular warning was repeated on August 28 and September 6,
2015. On June 26 and July 6, 2015, I foresaw fire outbreak and
buildings collapse in Lagos, which came to pass. On that same June 26,
I warned of an inferno at Onitsha market, which also came to pass,
because people ignored these warnings and refused to seek God's face
over them.
"Also, I'm the first man of God that foresaw the demise of Chief
(Mrs.) HID Awolowo. During the September Fire and Miracle Night, I did
warn of the impending death of a prominent female figure that will
touch the nation."
Just recently, a report by a Zimbabwean media outfit, Zimeye.com,
claimed that the popular Nigerian preacher, Temitope Balogun Joshua,
got the medical records of the former Malawian president Bingu
Mutharika before predicting his death.

Why We’re Yet To Defeat Boko Haram — Air Force Chief
The Command Training Officer, Headquarters Training Command, of the
Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Akintunde Johnson, has disclosed
that the war against Boko Haram and insurgency in parts of the country
was being hampered by intelligence failure and lack of modern training
equipment.
He disclosed this on Wednesday while addressing graduands of the
Intelligence Courses of the Nigerian Air Force School of Air
Intelligence, NAFSAINT, in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
He said, given the handicap, the military had already commenced
enhanced training in intelligence gathering and information sharing to
aid the fight against the insurgents.
Air Commodore Johnson said, "that is why we must commend the NAFSAINT
for churning out these graduands who will in no small measure play
critical roles in the current fight against the insurgents."
Earlier, the Commandant of NAFSAINT, Group Captain Raymond Nwankwo,
said among the 62 graduands were officers who were trained in the
Young Officers' Intelligence Course, Intelligence Supervisors and
Basic Intelligence Courses of the institution.
He said the graduands who all came out in good grades would be of
great asset to the military especially in the current war against
insurgency in the country.
Group Captain Nwankwo assured that the institution would continue to
churn out sound intelligence officers who would not fail to do the
Nigerian military proud.

Stop Paying Offering To RCCG -- Pastor Adeboye Tells “Sinners”
Revered clergy, Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church
of God (RCCG) says any member not in right standing with God in
character and deeds should no longer give offerings in the church.
Pastor Adeboye was speaking at the opening of the annual Holy Ghost
Congress with the theme, "Floodgates of Heaven" at the Redemption
Camp.
He said that anyone who is still living in sin and gives offering in
the church is doing himself a disservice.
The annual December gathering of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God
had taken off on a high note with singing and dancing but the General
Overseer of the church wore a more serious look as he delivered his
message, which was on loving God and getting rewards.
Pastor Adeboye said that the reason why the church, in spite of its
wealth, still collects offering from members is in order to get them
out of poverty as they are investing in heaven.
He then warned, "From today if you are not sure of your salvation
don't ever give when it is time for offerings in RCCG."
The message has also been posted on the pastor's Twitter handle.
The 18th annual congress is a week-long event which ends on December 12.

UN Hears Petition On Repressive Social Media Bill December
The UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right
to freedom of opinion and expression, Mr. David Kaye is considering
the urgent appeal against the repressive social media bill known as 'A
Bill for an Act to Prohibit Frivolous Petitions and other Matters
Connected therewith', rights group Socio-Economic Rights and
Accountability Project (SERAP) has confirmed.
In a press statement released and signed by the Executive Director of
SERAP, Adetokunbo Mumuni the organisation said that, "SERAP can
confirm that the Office of the Special Rapporteur is now considering
our petition. We have received communication from Marcelo Daher at the
Office of the Special Rapporteur to this effect. The Special
Rapporteur has also requested a copy of the bill, which SERAP has
promptly sent to Marcelo Daher."
"SERAP appreciates the prompt attention to this matter by the Office
of the Special Rapporteur. We urge the UN to pursue this matter to a
satisfactory conclusion by ensuring that the Nigerian Senate is not
allowed to strangulate media freedom and social media in the country,"
the group said.
According to the group, "The only option for the Senate now is to
withdraw this obnoxious bill without further delay and end this
international embarrassment. SERAP will be prepared to withdraw the
petition at the UN if the Senate can follow this honourable path."
It would be recalled that SERAP last week sent an urgent appeal to Mr.
David Kaye requesting him to use his good offices and position to
urgently request the National Assembly of Nigeria, specifically the
Senate, to withdraw the said bill which if passed into law would
undermine the internationally recognized right to freedom of
expression and press freedom on the internet in the country.
Mr. Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein UN High Commissioner for Human Rights was
copied in the urgent appeal.
In the appeal, the organisation expressed serious concerns "that the
National Assembly of Nigeria will any moment from now pass a bill to
jail for two years and fine anybody or group of persons who send any
alleged false text message or post false message on the social media
against another person."
"SERAP is concerned that rather than increasing universal and
inclusive access to the Internet for all Nigerians, the National
Assembly of Nigeria is working to undermine access of citizens to the
Internet. Yet, freedom of expression entails the ability to both speak
and receive information, including through the social media and other
generated content services such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and
chat applications," the organisation said.
The organisation also said that, by initiating the bill, the National
Assembly is impermissibly restricting the ability of the citizens to
use these tools to communicate, connect, and seek independent sources
of information."
"We contend that the bill will restrain access to internet and social
media, curtail the freedom of the press, and online content in
illegitimate, disproportionate, or otherwise unlawful and abusive
ways. The real targets of the bill are social media and human rights
defenders that might be critical of government policies or report on
corruption involving high ranking government officials," the
organisation also said.
"International law provides that any restriction to rights online must
be provided in law, pursuant to a legitimate aim, and limited to only
what is necessary and proportionate. SERAP believes that the bill
falls far short of international requirements of legitimacy, necessity
and proportionality," the organisation added.
According to the organisation, "The bill will also have chilling
effect on freedom of expression in the country, as it will create an
atmosphere of fear among bloggers and online activists who may not
post critical commentary on Facebook or other social media platforms
for fear of being sent to jail. The Internet cannot enable citizens
and others to participate in governance or critique government policy

Referendum: FG Properties Will Go To Biafra, Debts To Nigeria
PHOTO: Pro Biafra protesters in Abuja
The Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS), an international
governmental organization that promotes self-determination and the end
to colonial era boundaries in Africa has outlined reasons why there
should a snap referendum for Biafra Republic.
OEAS noted that if there is a secession, all "Property of the federal
government within the borders of Biafra will become property of
Biafra. The Nigerian government however will retain all national debt.
Biafra will then release the Nigerian government from any obligation
to pay reparations for crimes committed during the war of independence
1967-1970."
OEAS noted that as of today the people of Biafra are locked in an epic
struggle with the Nigerian federal government, the inevitable result
of which will likely be some form of self-determination for Biafra.
The OEAS wants a snap referendum to be held within 90 days with OEAS,
UNPO, and UN, EU and AU nonaligned observers supervising the balloting
process.
Various
effected groups and individuals have asked for details which OEAS can
now provide.
Why a Snap Referendum?
The people of Biafra have waited almost 50 years to legitimize their
choice. There is no need to prolong the process. A lengthy delay will
no doubt result in violence and bloodshed as out of the area ruffians
and intimidators come into the region to try to unlawfully influence
results.
Who will be eligible to vote in the Referendum?
All persons living within the confines of the borders of the former
Republic of Biafra as of January 1, 2016 will be eligible to vote. In
addition, persons living outside the borders who can demonstrate
significant ties to Biafra by family or property may choose to vote as
well.
What are the choices?
A. For total independence and the restoration of the Republic of
Biafra as a sovereign independent nation.
B. For internal self-rule as an autonomous Biafra republic with its
own parliament, currency, police and prime minister but with external
affairs and other matters handled by the Nigerian federal government.
This would be an arrangement similar to Scotland and the United
Kingdom or Greenland and Denmark.
C. For no change.
How many votes are required?
Whatever option above gets a plurality will be the chosen result.
If we choose an independent Biafra, what then?
After an orderly transition period of no more than 180 days, Biafra
will again be independent. Those who wish to maintain their Nigerian
citizenship may do so but will be under Biafran rule and must
affirmatively register themselves as aliens. Likewise, those outside
Biafra with ties to Biafra may become Biafran citizens after
renouncing Nigerian citizenship.
What about former federal government property?
Property of the federal government within the borders of Biafra will
become property of Biafra. The Nigerian government however will retain
all national debt. Biafra will then release the Nigerian government
from any obligation to pay reparations for crimes committed during the
war of independence 1967-1970.
What about the borders?
The borders with Nigeria must be settled by the time of independence
in order to avoid disorder and discord. On the other hand, Biafra
should not be obligated to follow any agreements between Cameroun and
Nigeria, any loss of territory must be subject to a democratic
referendum.
Is all this really possible?
We answer emphatically is yes. The people of the Autonomous Republic
of Crimea made their choice to leave Ukraine under far more stressful
circumstances. The vote was so overwhelmingly in favor that no country
has seriously challenged the will of the people.
Finally, what about those criminals who have oppressed Biafrans and
committed crimes and atrocities against the people of Biafra?
A Truth and Reconciliation Commission composed of Biafrans and other
experts will establish the truth and investigate political and
genocidal crimes from 1967 to present. The Committee will have the
power to grant clemency and forgiveness but also may make
recommendations as to prosecution in the most serious cases of crimes
against humanity, war crimes, and genocide.

Bayelsa Polls: PDP Supporters Protest In Yenagoa
Despite police ban on processions and demonstrations in Bayelsa state,
hundreds of PDP supporters , men, women and youths, took to the
streets of Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa state in protest of what they
called 'military hijack' of the electoral process.
The protesters who carried placards and sang war songs, attempted to
storm election result collation centre.
Messages on some of the placards read: "we need peace; we say no to
evil; military, stay away from politics; leadership is about building,
not destroying."
Security agents stationed in front of the State High Court, had a
difficult time putting them under check as the angry protesters
insisted on going into the collation centre, dead or alive, to see
INEC officials.
Not even reinforcement from operatives of the Nigerian Army deter the
determined protesters who alleged that military operatives hijacked
electoral process in the Southern Ijaw and Nembe local government
areas.
As at the time of filing this report, senior police officers were
still appealing and negotiating with the protesters who insisted that
only INEC commissioner must come and address them.
The PDP candidate, Governor Seriake Dickson, in the results declared
so far, has won five of the six local government areas. His opponent,
the APC candidate, Timipre Sylva has won in one.
The outstanding results are from Nembe and Southern Ijaw councils. The
latter has over 120,000 registered voters and is said to be the
stronghold of Sylva.

Findings And Preliminary Conclusion On Bayelsa Election
As more polling units in the restless Southern Ijaw are set to open,
the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room issued a statement regarding
the general points of the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa
state. The four findings included information from observers deployed
across the eight local government areas. The preliminary conclusion
has also been made.
1. Security
Although certain areas in the state had been previously identified as
high risk areas, security agencies (particularly the police) did not
deploy effectively to reflect this, making it difficult for the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be provided
adequate security to deploy personnel across the state. This resulted
in the failure of the elections to hold in the entire Southern Ijaw
local government area (LGA), as well as in polling units and wards in
Nembe, Brass and Ogbia LGAs.
2. INEC
There was late deployment of personnel and materials to various
polling units across the entire state. In addition, there were several
incidents of failure of the card reader machines to authenticate
fingerprints of voters.
Collation centre in Yenagoa is still empty. No information on the time
collation starts. Photo: @electmonitorng
3. Political parties
Political parties stoked the fires of violence in the state during
this election leading to incidents of violent clashes between their
supporters, occasioning deaths, injury and mayhem. The conduct of the
politicians defied their open show of signing of a peace accord.
The observers also noticed incidents where political parties also
brazenly dispensed cash to buy votes at polling units.
4. Electorate
Atmosphere of apathy fueled by the fear of violence and low civic
education was observed. There were also reports of voters who turned
up in polling units, actively receiving cash for votes. Situation Room
also received isolated reports of under-aged persons with voters'
cards in PU 06/03/07/010 in Opokuma North ward of Opokuma local
government area.
Conclusion
The group expressed concern about the lapses on the part of the INEC
and the security agencies in the conduct of the election. The lack of
synergy between two sides may have resulted in some of the challenges
associated with the election, including late delivery of materials,
security breaches and failure of election to hold in the identified
local governments areas, wards and polling units.
Situation Room called on the INEC to evaluate the use of card reader
technology in election with a view to improving on its efficiency and
effectiveness. The group was also disappointed with political leaders
in the state whose conduct, carriage and disposition encouraged
aggressive behavior and violence on the part of their supporters.
Situation Room further asked for investigation of all the acts of
violence and the arraignment and prosecution of all the people who
have promoted or carried out violence in this election.
The group noted that voting would continue in areas where they failed
to happen on December 5, 2015, such as the whole of Southern Ijaw LGA
and certain units in Nembe, Ogbia and Brass LGAs.

Biafra: Hausa In Onitsha Go Into Hiding
Members of the Hausa community in Onitsha, Anambra State, who fled the
town following the two-day pro-Biafran agitation fracas, which
resulted in the death of about nine persons and destruction of
properties, are still into hiding.
When our correspondent visited Onitsha on Saturday, the baristas, shoe
menders, green grocers, barbecue sellers and allied workers, who are
of northern origin, had yet to open shops.
Investigations by our correspondent showed that most of them were
still in the Nigerian Army and Nigeria Police barracks in the area,
apparently for fear of attacks.
During the Biafran agitation mayhem, the Onitsha central mosque, a
nomadic school and many other properties belonging to the Hausa
community were destroyed.
An Onitsha resident, who spoke with our correspondent, said, "After
the crisis, most of them only came out in the night to do brisk
businesses and disappear again."
Efforts to get the reaction of the Military Cantonment Central Mosque,
where most of the displaced victims camped, did not yield any results
as nobody was willing to speak on the issue.
"We don't talk to strangers. Our leader is not around. He is the only
person who has the power to talk on our behalf," one of the victims
said.
When contacted on the telephone, the state Police Public Relations
Officer, DSP Ali Okechechukwu, said the Police were in control of the
situation.
He called on the people of the state to go on with their businesses
without any fear of molestation.
He said, "The situation is calm. Nobody should be afraid or hide. The
police have brought back normalcy to Onitsha after the storm and we
are ever prepared to sustain the peace and order in Onitsha."

One Dead, Four Buildings Razed In Midnight Tanker Explosion At Ojuelegba
Pandemonium broke out, yesterday, in the Ojuelegba area of Lagos State
after a tanker carrying 33,000 liters of Premium |Motor Spirit, PMS
(petrol) fell off the Ojuelegba bridge, spilling its contents and
bursting into flames. One yet to be identified person was feared dead
while three others were injured in the accident.
Also, five cars and four buildings were razed. The accident occurred
at about 1.30am.
The inferno raged for several hours before the situation was brought
under control.
When Sunday Vanguard visited the scene, it was gathered that residents
of the affected houses situated about 400 meters away from the
explosion spot, had vacated.
In an interview, Mr. Okon Macaulay, Assistant Controller, Federal Fire
Service, narrated how the incident happened. He said: "At 1.30 am, we
sighted a vehicle, towing a tanker carrying fuel on the bridge. Few
minutes later, the chain attached to the tanker snapped forcing the
tanker to detach.
"We discovered that the entire area was enveloped with the smell of
fuel. We moved our truck to the scene immediately to forestall any
outbreak of fire, while deploying necessary equipment. At that time,
residents had run away to escape the disaster.
"Then commercial bus drivers under the bridge began to scoop the fuel
that flowed from the fallen tanker into the drainages and store them
in their vehicles. While this went on, there was an explosion. We had
to attack the resultant fire with foam. Several vehicles were razed
by the inferno. The content in the drainage further escalated the
spread of the fire."
Macaulay claimed that a lady died due to the explosion, even as he
declined to explain how the death happened.
General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA,
Michael Akindele, in his own account of the fire, said that the
incident occurred at about 2.15 am, while the tanker was ascending the
bridge.
Akindele, who said no life was lost, however, confirmed that one house
was razed while three others were partially burnt. He added that five
vehicles were burnt.
He thanked God that the tragedy occurred in the night, saying more
lives might have been lost if the fire had happened in day time.
The LASEMA boss appealed to tanker drivers to be careful while
conveying inflammable products, adding that vehicles used in conveying
such products must be roadworthy.
He said Governor Akinwumi Ambode had ordered integrity test to be
conducted on the Ojuelegba bridge to determine its strength.
Meanwhile, the Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Rasak Fadipe,
said the tanker was conveying 33,000 litres of petrol , saying his
men moved to the scene as soon as distress call was received.
According to him, timely intervention of fire men saved the
situation.

Bayelsa Poll: Four Feared Dead, Scores Injured
THE Bayelsa governorship election was, yesterday, marred by violence,
inducement of voters and apathy in parts of the state, particularly in
the riverine and coastal areas. Malfunctioning of card reader machines
was also rampant.
Southern Ijaw, Ekeremor, Brass and Nembe local councils were worst hit
as thugs unleashed mayhem on rival supporters.
In Southern Ijaw, although four persons were reportedly killed, an
indigene of the area told Vanguard that those confirmed dead were
more.
Gunmen were said to have invaded the riverside community in the early
hours of the day ostensibly to hijack election materials. Three of the
invaders were reportedly killed as security forces battled to restore
normalcy while the fourth victim was said to have been felled by stray
bullets.
Elsewhere in the riverine Nembe and Brass local councils, the election
day eve witnessed shootings and disruption of the peace, which prompted
reinforcement of security personnel in the area.
Although normalcy returned to Nembe on election day, the tension and
security uncertainty caused voters to remain indoors, resulting in
voter apathy.
It was gathered that the spate of shootings forced many of the
residents indoor for fear of being caught in the cross fire just as
election materials, according to a source, could not leave the highly
tensed area.
"Several shots were fired to scare the people and this paved the way
for the carting away of election materials but security operatives
attached to the area were up to the task," said an eye witness.
According to the eye witness, no fewer than 45 suspects were arrested
by security operatives.
At the time of filing this report, a source in the community told
Vanguard that the exercise might be suspended due to the mayhem and
escalating tension in the area.
However, the election was generally peaceful in
Yenagoa,Kolokuma/Opokuma, Ogbia, and parts of Sagbama local
government areas.
A community leader in Sagbegeria in Kolokuma/Opokuma, Ongore
Joshua, who decried the low turnout of voters, described the situation
as unfortunate.
In parts of Yenagoa,Ogbia and Kolokuma/Opokuma local councils,
accreditation started around 8:30am, although there were complaints of
failure of card readers in Kolokuma/Opokuma Units 6 and 7 of Ward 10.
In Otuan community in Southern Ijaw, the locals were yet to sight INEC
officials and materials at press time. Unconfirmed reports said INEC
had cancelled the exercise in Southern Ijaw.
Dickson decries faulty card readers, violence against supporters
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Governor Seriake
Dickson, who led his wife, Rachael, and mother, Goldcoast, to do
accreditation at about 10.38am at Oruere-Ware Unit 5 of Sagbama Ward
2, lamented that the card reader failed to capture their finger prints
.
Dickson, after accreditation, expressed worry over the alleged spate
of failure of the card readers and violent attacks on his supporters
in Oporoma, Brass, Ekeremor and other parts of the state.
The governor noted that the report of violence was disturbing and
described them as pre-meditated in spite of the presence of heavy
security agents.
"We are taking note of the violence against our people. Everyone knows
who they are and security agents are watching while they carry out the
mayhem," he said.
Sylva optimistic
Chief Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate,
was accredited at 11.41am alongside his wife, Alayingi, at Eseni
Square, Unit 4, Ward 4,
Sylva condemned the attack on the house of the Minister of State for
Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief Heineken Lokpobiri, at
Oporoma by suspected thugs.
He also picked holes in the many incidents of failed card reader but
expressed optimism that, having had a successful campaign, he was
certain of victory .
The APC candidate, disclosed that several thugs were apprehended by
the Joint Task Force (JTF) at Odioma while floating in the river
waiting for him.
He said that intelligence led to the arrests.
"We got security reports of infiltration by PDP thugs but it seemed to
be ignored by security agencies owing to conflicting reports. Here,
there is peace, everyone is allowed to exercise his franchise. You can
see that there is peace here.
"My card was read well but, while on the line, I noticed that many
people were failed by the card reader. I want INEC to up this
technology, it gives me some worry, but, overall, everything is going
well.
"The other party didn't want election from what we can see with the
deployment of thugs and violence. A minister was attacked. He called
me to say his house had been attacked. We called for security
reinforcement and he is safe now."
Vanguard gathered that the houses of the Acting State Chairman of the
PDP, HRH Serena Dokubo, and another party stalwart were attacked by
opposition supporters at Brass in the morning but Dokubo could not be
reached for comments at press time.
I'm quite worried about card reader issue – Jonathan
Immediate past president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, after suffering card
reading hitches as he and his wife, Patience, faced during the last
general elections, called for the review of the concept of the card
reader before the 2019 elections.
Jonathan made the call after his accreditation at Otazi Playground
Polling Unit 039, Ward 13, Otuoke, in Ogbia local council.
The former President and his wife's first attempt at accreditation, at
about 8:45a.m, was unsuccessful on account of the malfunctioning of a
card reader They were later accredited when a back-up machine was
brought at 10 am.
However, the card reader failed to capture Jonathan's mother and two
other associates.
Answering a question on his impression of the situation, the former
President said: "I advise that before the 2019 elections, the whole
concept of card reader and the technology must be reviewed. I'm quite
worried about the card reader issue this morning. Luckily, this is an
isolated, one-state election. But from my experience today, INEC must
review this issue of PVC and card reader very well before we go into
the next elections.
"In the last presidential election, myself and my wife's PVCs were
rejected by the card reader. Today, because they changed mine and that
of my wife, it was successful. Five people came with me including a
former commissioner known to me in the state. The card reader rejected
three others. They could not have been carrying clone cards."
Jonathan, who looked calm, admonished Bayelsans to be calm and see
politics as a duty to bring about change in the society.
He averred that transparent and credible elections are hallmarks of
democracy, adding that when elections are not peaceful, they cannot be
said to be credible.
Urging Bayelsans to go about yesterday's poll peacefully, he said
whoever emerged governor after the voting exercise should govern the
state well.
How thugs attacked Lokpobiri's home
Few hours before the commencement of accreditation of voters, the
country home of the Minister of State for Agriculture and
Director-General of the Sylva/Igiri Campaign Organization, Senator
Heineken Lokpobiri, was attacked by gunmen.
The gunmen were said to have stormed the house in the early hours of
the day but were repelled by security operatives.
The attackers, according to sources, overpowered security men deployed
to Ekeremor and made their way into the minister's compound, causing
mayhem, with Lokpobiri and others trapped inside the house.

the Joint Task Force (JTF) at Odioma while floating in the river
waiting for him.
