"Linda Ikeji Kept Begging Me After We Broke Up" --Dan Foster

In a recent interview with Punch, popular Nigerian-based American
On-Air Personality Dan Foster talked about his affair with popular
blogger Linda Ikeji, why his 16year old son is into weed and more.

Read below:

Do you have regrets coming down here?

The only regret I had was that in 1999, I had a son in the US. I had
to go to my dad and I told him, 'Dad, I think I like my job more than
being married now. I would do anything for that job but then, I just
met this woman and she just had a baby for me.' He is now 16. I was
mad at him last year. My ex sent me some of his pictures and I knew he
was doing drugs. He had everybody fooled as if he was a cool kid. I
feel so guilty because I am sitting here making all the money and I
didn't spend time with him. You have to spend time with your kids or
you would lose them. Sometimes I would call him and he wouldn't have
anything to say. I would ask him how he was doing and he would just
say 'fine.' I would scold him and tell him to say something more than
one word. I would tell him to ask me questions and he would say he
didn't know what to say.

Did you ever smoke weed?

Yes. I remember one time I smoked weed and my father came in and asked
me, 'what is that stupid look on your face? You must have been smoking
that stupid stuff because you look so stupid!' I never smoked it
again. But I was even 18. But my son was 14 when he started smoking
weed. I was so pissed with his mum because she didn't even know what
he was doing. Now, I am trying to get his head together and make sure
he does well in school. My only pain is that I needed to have been
there for this kid. But I have three kids now and I love them to
death.

Was your absence the major reason he did drugs?

I could have communicated more with him. He needs a role model. I
spoke to my ex's new guy and I asked him why he didn't watch over him.
He said he tried to talk to him. I told him I was annoyed with them. I
told him I would have watched over the kid and found out who he was
hanging out with. He told me he was hanging out with a white kid. But
he is doing better now. He is communicating with me now.

Why did you marry a Nigerian?

My father told me that my ex had moved on. In fact, he told me then
that she looked heavy. I asked what he meant and I was told she was
pregnant. I knew she had really moved on. But then, I didn't marry
again till almost four or five years later. I was taking my time after
that. It wasn't something I wanted to jump into. But then, I did have
so many options.

We knew you had options including Linda Ikeji

Oh yeah! I remember Linda asking me what she did wrong. She went on
and on. My wife always tries to delete her number no matter how I tag
it on my phone. She would always figure the number out and she would
find out what I use to code it. My wife is so strong and she is the
right woman. I love her because she didn't know who I was when I met
her at the theatre. She still didn't know who I was for almost two
weeks after. We just had a great conversation. My sister kept asking
me how I would find somebody that would love me for who I am. I put my
wife to that test. She didn't know me. It was two weeks later that
people in her office asked her if she knew who her boyfriend was and
they told her. She told them she didn't know and she hadn't even heard
me on radio.

But Linda is doing well now; don't you feel you should have married her?

She is a nice kid. I hope she is able to find someone but she has to
find the right person. She is really into what she is doing. She is an
honest kid. I thought I wasn't good enough for her. I kept asking her
why me. But she was really into me. I couldn't believe it. I took her
for granted. I felt she could always find a fine model on the runway.
But she was so really serious about me. She was in love with me. But
it didn't work out...

Boko Haram: Govt Imposes Curfew On Adamawa

Due to the increase in insurgency in some parts of Adamawa State, the
government on Saturday slammed a curfew on every part of the State.

Though there has been curfew in some parts of the State for some time
now, however , with the eruption of new attacks, the state government
was left with no option but to take the action.

The government made the declaration in a press statement signed and
issued by the Secretary to the State government, Hon Ibrahim Welye.

The press statement is that the curfew will now commence from 9pm to
5am daily. It also stated that those on essential services and with
permit are allowed to carry out their duties.

" All citizens and security operatives are please advised to comply
strictly with these directives" it stated.

Burkina Faso Coup: 2 Soldiers Claim Presidency

Another military officer, Col. Isaac Zida, former Presidential Guard
to ousted President Blaise Compaore, has announced he has assumed
responsibility as the country's Head of State.

Burkina Faso's local media quoted Zida as making the declaration in
Ouagadougou during a broadcast over a private television station on
Saturday.

The announcement came barely 24 hours after Burkina Faso's Army chief,
Gen. Nabéré Traore, declared himself as the Head of State following
Compaore's resignation.

"I have now assumed the responsibilities of Head of State to ensure
the continuity of the state pending the collective agreement of our
people for a peaceful transition.

"I assure the entire nation that former President Blaise Compaore, who
resigned on Friday, is safe and secure,'' he was quoted as saying.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Compaore-led government
came under attack following parliament's planned amendment of Article
37 of the country's constitution.

Thousands of Burkinabes stormed the streets of major cities protesting
against the planned amendment and setting the National Assembly ablaze
in the process.

The protesters feared that the amendment was planned to pave the way
for Compaore to stay in office beyond 2015.

Reports say that some sections of the country were opposed to Traore's
emergence as the head of state following his closeness to Compaore.

Compaore, who spent 27 years in office, was billed to vacate it in
2015 after a presidential election.

Egypt Jails Eight Men Over "Gay Wedding"

An Egyptian court sentenced on Saturday eight men to three years in
prison for appearing in a video of an alleged gay wedding and posting
it online.

"The video clip promotes debauchery and ruins traditional moral
standards," said the court in its ruling, describing the video posted
in August on YouTube and social media websites as "an invitation to
immorality."

The clip shows two men on a boat in the River Nile in Cairo hugging
and kissing after exchanging rings amid celebratory friends and it
also shows a cake with a picture of the two men.

Homosexuality is a taboo in Egypt and most Muslim countries that
consider it contrary to religion and morality.

The video was met by outrage among a lot of Egyptians. While
supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohamed Morsi argued it showed
degrading morals after his overthrow, today's ruling may be a sign
that the new leadership of President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi could be as
conservative when it comes to moral issues and social standards.

Ex-Burkina President Compaore In Ivory Coast

Deposed Burkina Faso president Blaise Compaore is currently in a
luxury hotel in Ivory Coast's capital Yamoussoukro, witnesses said
Saturday.

"The services of the President hotel in Yamoussoukro served him
(Compaore) dinner yesterday (Friday) and breakfast this morning
(Saturday)," according to a hotel employee.

Another local resident said he saw "a long cortege of around 30 cars
going in the direction of the villa," which is used as a semi-official
residence for foreign dignitaries.

Burkina army backs Lieutenant-Colonel Zida to lead transition: statement

Burkina Faso's army on Saturday backed Lieutenant-Colonel Isaac Zida
to lead a transition period after the ousting of president Blaise
Compoare, according to a statement published after a meeting of army
chiefs.

"Lieutenant-Colonel Isaac Zida was chosen unanimously to lead the
transition period opened after the departure of president Compaore,"
said the statement signed by General Navere Honore Traore, who had
initially said he would himself assume power.

Zida, the second in command of the presidential guard, said Friday he
had assumed "the responsibilities of head of the transition and of
head of state" to ensure a "smooth democratic transition".

Chelsea Survive QPR Scare, Liverpool Beaten

Eden Hazard's penalty enabled Chelsea to preserve their four-point
lead in the Premier League with a narrow 2-1 win at home to local
rivals Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Diego Costa returned for Chelsea after four games out with hamstring
trouble and he saw his side take a 32nd-minute lead when Cesc Fabregas
teed up Oscar to bend in an exquisite shot with the outside of his
right foot.

Charlie Austin equalised for QPR just after the hour when he beat
Thibaut Courtois with a clever back-heel from Leroy Fer's cross-shot
to claim his third goal in two games.

But Hazard gave Chelsea victory in the 75th minute when he calmly beat
Rob Green from 12 yards after he had gone down under a challenge by
Eduardo Vargas.

Hazard's goal enabled Jose Mourinho's side, who visit Maribor in the
Champions League on Wednesday, to preserve their four-point advantage
over second-place Southampton, who won 1-0 at Hull City.

Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama scored the game's only goal in the
third minute at the KC Stadium, brilliantly lobbing Eldin Jakupovic
from 40 yards after the Hull goalkeeper scuffed his clearance.

Arsenal climbed into the Champions League places after Alexis Sanchez
scored twice in a 3-0 success at home to winless bottom club Burnley.

Defender Calum Chambers crossed for Sanchez to head Arsenal in front
in the 70th minute and smashed home his first senior goal two minutes
later after Tom Heaton parried a shot by Danny Welbeck.

Sanchez added a third in injury time from a Kieran Gibbs cross.

Arsene Wenger's side, who welcomed Theo Walcott back from a long-term
knee injury, moved into fourth place at the expense of West Ham
United, who came from two goals down to record a 2-2 draw at Stoke
City.

- 'Not about Mario Balotelli' -

Missing top scorer Diafra Sakho due to a shoulder injury, West Ham
fell 2-0 behind through goals from Victor Moses and Mame Biram Diouf
either side of half-time.

But Stewart Downing crossed for Enner Valencia to reduce the arrears
on the hour and the Ecuador international returned the favour for
Downing to drill home an equaliser with 17 minutes to play.

Earlier, Liverpool slumped to their fourth defeat of the season as
Spanish substitute Ayoze Perez earned in-form Newcastle United a 1-0
victory at St James' Park.

Liverpool, for whom striker Mario Balotelli endured another
frustrating afternoon, were beaten when Alberto Moreno failed to clear
and Perez pounced to lash home in the 73rd minute.

It was Newcastle's fourth consecutive victory in all competitions,
following their shock League Cup win over holders Manchester City in
mid-week, and saw Alan Pardew's side climb to 11th place in the table.

Runners-up to City last season, Liverpool are now 12 points behind
leaders Chelsea, who visit Anfield next weekend.

"We were punished for a mistake and that is what cost us the game,"
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, whose side visit Real Madrid in the
Champions League on Tuesday, told BT Sport.

Balotelli ambled onto the pitch just as the second half kicked off,
but Rodgers said "it had no bearing at all on the result", adding: "It
is not about Mario Balotelli, it is about the team."

An Esteban Cambiasso own goal saw West Bromwich Albion win 1-0 at
Leicester City, while Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey was sent
off for two bookable offences as his side drew 0-0 at Everton.

The weekend's headline fixture arrives on Sunday, when third-place
Manchester City -- nine points behind Chelsea, and seeking a first win
in four games -- welcome derby rivals Manchester United to the Etihad
Stadium.

games in the history of La Liga.

Whereabouts Of 150 Benue Students In Adamawa Varsity Unknown

Over 150 Benue State indigenes, schooling in Adamawa State University,
Mubi, are missing, The PUNCH reports.

Seventeen out of the over 200 of the students were rescued and
conveyed to Makurdi, the state capital on Friday night.

The distressed students, who spoke to PUNCH correspondent on Friday
might at the Makurdi State Government House, where they were lodged,
said they escaped the attack on Mubi through "divine intervention".

One of them, who identified himself as Terna, a 200 Level Business
Administration student, said they spent two nights in the bush while
trying to find their way to Maiha Local Government Area, the closest
area to Mubi.

According to him, the fleeing students were in company with some
military officers, who were also on the run during the escape to
Maiha.

He said, "Only God knows how many kilometers we walked through the
bush and mountains in two days.

"We had to leave some of our school mates in Katsina Ala Local
Government Area for treatment while some of us were brought in here."

While appreciating the state government, he appealled to the state
government that a search party be constituted to get the other missing
students.

He said, "Frankly speaking, we are over 200 from Benue State in that
university and as you can see, we are just 17 here with few other weak
ones in the hospital receiving treatment and I appeal that a search
party be urgently instituted to know the whereabouts of the others."

Chinedu Ubachukwu Wins Gulder Ultimate Search 11

Twenty-four year old Chinedu Ubachukwu has emerged the winner of this
year's edition of Gulder Ultimate Search. The Anambra state indigene
thus became the 11th winner of Africa's first and longest running
reality TV show.

To attain the feat, he edged out 28-year old Emmanuel Afolabi and 29
year-old Nne Cosy Joe. After more than three weeks in the jungle, only
the three contestants survived the harsh weather conditions and the
arduous tasks they were subjected to.

Their final task was to retrieve the great General's War helmet which
according to folklore, had been hidden in the belly of the Aguleri
Forest of Anambra State.

Ironically, when the contestants commenced their journey from Boat
Landing, where they camped the previous night, Chinedu appeared the
weakest of them. He even stated that he was not 100 per cent fit;
adding that if the final search for the helmet became a purely
physical task, it may be to his disadvantage.

Chinedu was the last to climb over a very high wall and the remaining
contestants insisted that he should be the first to cross another rope
ladder which was suspended between two trees because he appeared weak.

As the search neared its end, Chinedu appeared to regain his strength
and the trio raced across a river which was at their waist-level,
towards their work stations situated at the belly of the Aguleri
forest. There they met an emissary of the Council of Elders who
adorned a red cloak. His duty was to grant them right of passage only
after correctly pieced together the tiles which they found during
their very long trek.

Cosy was the first to solve the riddle, followed by Chinedu and then
Emmanuel. They raced towards three canoes and paddled away in
different directions. Both Emmanuel and Cosy Joe appeared to paddle
their canoes aimlessly while Chinedu paddled towards a particular
direction. It turned out Chinedu rowed his canoe towards a clay pot
which was emitting fire.

At this point, Cosy Joe appeared frustrated and angrily hit the water
with his bare hands. He had no paddle. As Cosy paddled his boat to
shore and alighted on land, Emmanuel attempted to row his canoe in
Chinedu's direction.

Chinedu raced on land and retrieved the great General's Helmet
surrounded by three fire pots. Hence, he joins the Order of Heroes as
the 11th winner of Gulder Ultimate Search.

Chidi Mokeme, the Anchor man, soon arrived on canoe and congratulated
Chinedu on his great feat. He said: "After 26 murderous days in the
Aguleri jungle, after days and nights of pain and sorrow; thinking
about the unknown, nursing your wounds with sweat, with blood, it is
you Chinedu who made it here. It is you who has carved your name in
history. It is you who has earned the bragging rights. It is you who
has made it into the elite league of extra ordinary warriors. By the
powers conferred on me by the Council of Elders, I now pronounce you
Last Man Standing!"

Incidentally, when the relatives of the final four contestants paid
them a visit in the jungle two days earlier, it was only Chinedu's
mother that urged him to return home as champion. Amidst tears, Mrs.
Ubachukwu told her son "I know you will make me proud. Come home with
the crown."

Incidentally, on the morning of the final search, both Emmanuel and
Cosy Joe gave Chinedu their lanterns. They told him "this will light
your path", oblivious of the fact that that his light would shine the
brightest at the end of the day. Both Emmanuel and Cosy talked about
reducing their load and they both decided to hand their lanterns to
Chinedu.

For his feat, Chinedu will be rewarded with N10 million and a brand
new SUV at a party fit only for royalty. Two other contestants will
also receive brand new vehicles. They are Samantha Appi, who will
drive home a brand new Ford Eco sport for emerging as the Last Woman
Standing and the winner of the Viewers' Choice, who will go home with
a Ford Focus.

The contestants that were evicted earlier in the show were: Otto
Canon, Ikenna Emedike, Addoh Evi, Iroh Noella, Blessing Eriata,
Loretta Erijakpor, Sandra Nwagbagiro, Samantha Appi, Sharon Robinson,
Joshua Nwagboso and Iwuoha Ikenna.

Drama, As 14-Yr-Old Suspected Killer Bride Goes 'Dumb' In Court

There was a mild drama at Gezawa High Court, Kano, yesterday as a
girl-bride, Wasila Tasi, suspected to have killed her husband
(Photo: 14-year-old aw Wasila Tasi'u)
and three others in April, failed to utter a word in court during her trial.

The high profile culpable homicide case that attracted the attention
of the human rights community was nearly stalled by refusal of the
14-year-old suspect to speak.

Consequently, the presiding judge, Justice Muhammad Yahaya was
compelled to enter a plea of 'not guilty' on her behalf shortly after
the charged sheet was read and explained to her in the local dialect.

Wasila, looking perturbed at the dock, was repeatedly asked whether
she understood the content of what was read before her, but each time
she failed to utter a word as the court registrar ran through the
four-count charge of culpable homicide punishable by death under
Section 221 A of the Penal Code.

The decision of the court to enter a plea of not guilty on her behalf
revived the case as the prosecution counsel, Lamido Abba Soron Dinki,
offered to line up five witnesses to prove the merit of the case.

The presiding judge, therefore, adjourned the matter to November 26
and 27 to continue hearing and also ordered that the suspect be
returned to remand home.

Boko Haram Says Kidnapped Schoolgirls Married Off, Denies Ceasefire Claims

In a new video on Friday, Boko Haram's leader said the 219 kidnapped
schoolgirls who remain hostages of the Islamist group had converted to
Islam and were married off. The group also denied Nigerian claims that
a ceasefire had been agreed.

In a new video obtained by AFP, the Islamist group's leader, Abubakar
Shekau, denied claims by Nigeria's government that it had agreed to a
ceasefire and apparently ruled out any future talks on the release of
the girls.

Shekau also said the Islamists were holding a German national, who was
kidnapped in Adamawa state in northeast Nigeria in July.

Some 276 schoolgirls were kidnapped from the remote northeast town of
Chibok in Borno state in April, sending Boko Haram - whose five-year
insurgency in northern Nigeria has claimed an estimated 13,000 lives -
into the international spotlight.

The new video comes after a surprise announcement by the Nigerian
military and presidency on October 17 that a deal had been reached
with the militants to end hostilities and return the kidnapped
children.

There was immediate scepticism about both claims. Previous ceasefires
have proved fruitless and there is little faith in the influence of
the purported envoy to Boko Haram, Danladi Ahmadu.

Police Chief Amourer Accused Of Stealing Firearms Commits Suicide

The Chief Armourer of Kaduna Police Command arrested for stealing
firearmsand attempting to sell same to criminals has committed suicide
while in detention, police authorities said on Friday.

The Chief Amourer, Nanbol Audu, a Deputy Superintendent of police was
reported to have shot himself on the chest while in detention at about
5am local time on Friday morning.

Confirming the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu
said preliminary investigation revealed that the late officer killed
himself but however denied that the police officer may have been
murdered while in detention.

He also stated that full investigation into the incident had commenced.

However, what is not clear is how the deceased officer got the gun
with which he shot himself since he was in Police custody as at the
time of the incident.

The late Audu and two others arrested on October 20 drove into the
police armoury at night where they loaded firearms into a private
vehicle.

Parading the suspects before journalists last Tuesday, the
commissioner said police officers on guard suspected foul play and
stopped the vehicle from leaving the premises.

And upon interrogation, he said the State Armament Officer could not
give satisfactory account of his action which led to his arrest and
the two other occupants of the vehicle one Zingkur Joseph of Trade
Centre Jos and Samuel Adamu of Kuru Jos South Local Government Area of
Plateau State, respectively.

Mr Shehu further stated that investigations revealed that one of the
two civilian suspects was a blacksmith who specialises in
manufacturing locally-made firearms, and that the two civilian
suspects came from Jos, Plateau State on arrangement to purchase the
said firearms for an unnamed traditional ruler currently on the run at
the cost of 400,000 Naira (about $2,500).

NSCDC Arrests Illegal Baby Factory Operator In Imo, Rescues 2-day Old Baby

Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have
arrested a woman, Mrs Esther Akunmadu, for running an illegal baby
factory and harbouring pregnant young ladies for the purpose of
selling their babies after birth.

Parading the suspect on Friday at the command headquarters in Owerri,
the Imo State capital, in south-east Nigeria, the Deputy Commandant of
the NSCDC in Imo State, Mr Ade Micheal, said the woman was arrested in
Umuchoke in Obazu Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state.

Mr Akunmadu, 52, was arrested after a tip-off that led to an
intelligent and careful monitoring of the activities of the operator
for close to a week before closing up on her.

Mr Michael said that the preliminary investigations revealed that the
woman had been into the illegal business for over one year. At the
period of arrest, two male babies, 2-day old and 2-week old baby were
both recovered from her illegal maternity home.

He also said that while she was about to be arrested, she tried to
bribe her way with the sum of 100,000 Naira which his men rejected.

The Deputy Commandant warned all parents and guardians to be conscious
of the activities of people living within their neighbourhood
especially during this election period. He emphasised that the command
would ensure that all such activities would be nipped in the bud.

Without Knowledge Of Dealings
He also said that the command would hand the babies to the ministry of
women affairs and social development in the state and also hand over
the operator to appropriate authorities for further prosecution.

Mrs Akunmadu, when interrogated by reporters, had a different story to
tell, contrary to the testimonies of the NSCDC officials. She claimed
she was a retired midwife and that the alleged illegal and
unregistered baby factory was a home for women who wanted to give
birth.

She denied that she ran a baby factory but accepted that she was
trying to bribe her way out of the security operatives' net.

A 21-year old pregnant girl and one of the inmates in the illegal
maternity home, told reporters that her mother brought her to the
place without knowledge of the dealings between her mother and the
operator.

If going by the recent motion moved by the federal lawmakers on the
prescription of 10-year jail term for anyone that harbours a pregnant
girl for the purpose of giving birth to children for sale or running
an illegal baby factory, 52 years old Akunmadu will surely be the
first to be prosecuted.

No Regret Allowing Man Massage My Backside- BBA'S Lilian Afegbai

Big Brother season 9 housemate, Lilian Afegbai was evicted after two
weeks in the house, making her the 1st Nigerian housemate to be
evicted this season.

However, Lilian who was known for her twerking skills says she has no
regrets and will be a star regardless.

She also shutdown allegations that she was acting like Karen Igho in the house.

In an interview with Nigerian Tribune, she said

I wasn't trying to imitate Karen, I'm Lilian and I am different. I
have my own personality. For those who think I was trying to imitate
Karen, well, welcome to my world."

On her plans

I am taking a cue from Gideon Okeke. He did not win, but today, he is
a star. I lasted two weeks in the house, and for those two weeks, I
showcased myself and entertained Africa. Everyone was glued to their
TV. But now, I am out here and people get to see me on the TV. I have
been on Tinsel, Afriwood, but people didn't know me. Now they will
know me and talk about me and my moves. I am going to show Africa what
I can do. I may not have won, but trust me, I am going to be bigger
than the winner.

On her infamous butt massage

In the real world, I can have a friend and ask him or her to give me a
massage. I had no ulterior motives. Luis gave me a massage and I did
not have second thoughts. It didn't lead anywhere. I did not have any
negative thoughts. It was just a mate giving me a massage in the
house.

On if it wasn't too early to have such kind of massage

That was how I felt at that point. If I was in my house, I would go to
a spa or look for a friend to massage my body. I did not see anything
wrong in it. There is something people don't know: we had been locked
down for over a month; it wasn't easy.

Google Ordered To Pay Woman After Capturing Her Cleavage With Street View Cameras

A Canadian judge has ordered Google to pay a Montreal woman for the
violation of her privacy after she found an embarrassing photograph of
herself on Google Street View. Google's automated cameras had captured
the woman sitting on her doorstep, leaning forward with a portion of
her cleavage exposed.

The Journal de Montreal reports that Maria Pia Grillo was reportedly
shocked when she looked up her own house on Street View and discovered
the embarrassing photo of herself. Even though her face was blurred
out automatically by Google's algorithms, the fact that she was
sitting on her own doorstep made her easily identifiable to people who
knew her.

Grillo claims that she suffered emotional damage as a result of the
photograph, particularly at the hands of mocking coworkers at the bank
she worked at. Her lawsuit against Google demands that the company pay
her $45,000 for the harm it inflicted, and that Google blur out other
identifiable portions of the Street View photo (e.g. her body,
address, and license plate).

Google refused to fork over the money, saying that it wasn't
responsible for the woman's emotional harm, and argued that its
photography was showing a public place.

A judge agreed with Google about the harm, but disagreed with Google
about the public place reducing her expectation of privacy. He has
ordered that Google pay Grillo $2,250 plus additional costs to
compensate her for having her privacy violated.

explosions that went off this morning at the Gombe Motor Park.

Three bombs concealed in bags had gone off at the park during Friday
morning rush hour and killed at least eight people and wounded 34
others, rescue workers told AFP. The State Commissioner of Police,
Kudu Nma, also told newsmen in Gombe that a vehicle with an
inscription "Yobe Line'' was reported to have brought the suspected
bombers to the park.

A vehicle which was suspected to have carried the bombers who came in
with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) was recovered. Unfortunately
for them, they were caught when they were about to run away," he said.

The explosion had gone off around 9.30 a.m. at the park. There was
pandemonium around the area immediately after the incident as hundreds
of youths from different directions descended on the park. They threw
stones at security personnel and other rescue workers who were
evacuating corpses and the injured.

The security operatives had to shoot into the air to disperse the
rampaging youths. The bodies of the victims were later conveyed to the
Gombe Specialist Hospital, while those injured were also taken to
other hospitals for treatment.

Tragedy Touches Imo APGA, 3 State Officials Feared Dead In Auto Crash On Abuja Road

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, Imo State chapter, has been
thrown into mourning following a ghastlymotor accident which involved
its members along Abuja Lokoja road.

According to information reaching Trumpeta Newspaper, two persons were
feared dead, while others sustained serious injuries.

It was learnt that the Imo State APGA members were travelling to Abuja
National Party office to collect party Delegate forms for Imo state
when a party Bus they were travelling in had a head on collision with
another vehicle.

Although Trumpeta could not confirm exactly the time of the accident,
it learnt it happened yesterday. While the body of the dead persons
have been deposited in the mortuary the wounded have been evacuated to
the hospital where they are responding to treatments.

A source from Imo APGA office who confirmed the incident pleaded for
anonymity, while asking that the name of the two casualties, (males)
should also be with held for now.

Imo Governor Indecisive, Declares Intention For Presidency Again, Raises Buhari's Hand At Convention

The indecision of Governor Rochas Okorocha to clearly state his
position on which office to seek in 2015 is breeding untold anxiety
and tension in his political family.

While office seekers especially serving governors have openly declared
their intention and officially informed supporters on next line of
action, Okorocha is still dilly-dallying by toying with the idea of
running for the post of presidency and that the post of presidency and
that of Governor at the same time under APC ticket.

Even as pundits and close watchers of political developments in the
state are of the view that Okorocha wants to gamble with the
presidency ticket to make a case for Vice-President, Government House
source indicates that failure at the national level will automatically
bring the governor home for a second missionary journey in 2015.

When signs appeared that Okorocha would pick APC ticket in Abuja after
moving the entire state Exco and members of the APC
facilitators/coordinators to the federal capital territory and other
states to advance his presidential ambition, the governor returned on
Monday to create another version of his 2015 aspiration by stating
that he will not abandon the state for PDP "hawks" an indication that
he may have lost out in the initial Vice Presidential ticket bargain.
Though, Okorocha did not make categorical statement but his body
language and innuendos built into his speech suggest that a second
tenure is in the offing for the Ogboko Ideato South born politician.

Furthermore, the inability of any person from the governor's camp
especially his lieutenants to collect forms to run for the
governorship under APC is another strong revelation that the party
ticket strictly reserved for Okorocha if he fails at the national
stage.

However at the recent swearing in of new commissioners and Transition
Committee Chairmen of councils on Monday, Okorocha did not hesitate to
inform his listeners of intention to consolidate his gains after first
tenure in office, stating that he will use next election to retire PDP
from Imo. Wide jubilation erupted in the camp of the governor when he
signaled intention to remain in Imo for 2015 election.

Surprisingly, 48 hours after the Owerri speech where he rekindled
interest in having another shot in Douglas House, the seat of power in
Imo, Okorocha was one of the fire gladiators the national party
chairman, Chief John Odiejie-oyegun requested to make a brief speech
during the special mini convention held in Abuja.

Apart from the grand entry of House of Reps speaker, Aminu Tambuwal
into APC, the other highlight was the 2-minute speech granted to
presidential office seekers. With the exception of Abubakar Atiku,
other aspirants spoke including Okorocha.

As Okorocha mounted the rostrum to address the convention, uneasy calm
pervaded the Imo State arm of the pavilion when APC members from the
state spoke in hushed tone wondering what could be amiss with the
number one citizen of Imo.

Our reporter who monitored the Wednesday event in Abuja expressed
worry over the pattern of the governor stating that amounts to
gambling on the part of the governor to speak from both sides of his
mouth on his 2015 election.

The renewed ambition of Okorocha to pick the presidential ticket of
APC dominated discussion in the stand of the state at the convention.

Our correspondent at the home front noted that most of his followers
expressed same feelings concerned the ambiguous nature of Okorocha to
his next political destination.

Nigeria No More Jaga-Jaga --Eedris Abdulkarim

A top Nigerian crooner, Eedris Abdulkarim, was recently billed to
entertain guests at the gala dinner in Dubai, but for what he called
"technical problems", he could not. In an interview with Vanguard,
Eedris disclosed why he could not perform, saying, Nigeria "is no more
jaga-jaga!"
Excerpts:

Since your last album it seems you haven't been active. What's with you?

Basically because my kind of music talks about ills in the society,
and it needs research which takes time, to know what is going on,
evaluate the present government, then compare and contrast with the
past governments. I must tell you that for the first time I'm very
positive about this government. In three years, Dr Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan has been able to show Nigerians that there actually could be
development.

Refurbishing of airports

Our airports are being refurbished. See our road from Lagos to Ore
which has been there for fifteen years -- he has done it. Now it's
three hours from Lagos to Benin. Also the Lagos-Ibadan road has also
been there for years and Dr Jonathan is doing it.

I am positive about this government and it is my responsibility to use
music as a platform to promote what he has done. NITDA is implementing
the Transformation Agenda by adding values to the lives of our
children, making sure there are a resource centres everywhere in the
community and it is a beautiful thing. I'm really happy with the
experience.

So, Nigeria is no more "jaga-jaga?"

No, no no! Twelve years ago Nigeria was jaga-jaga, but now Nigeria is
no more jaga jaga, even though we know that the insecurity happening
in Nigeria is propaganda against government, but Dr. Jonathan is doing
his best and is trying.

Eedris, what is a musician doing at GITEX 2014?

You know, as a Nigerian and an individual, I like to expand my reach --
that is -- I like to learn because I believe everybody learns every
day. I am here in Dubai to perform during GITEX.

NITDA brought me here to perform; it was a beautiful experience, but
the performance didn't take place because of some technical problems
and I also used the opportunity to know the age which we are in
technology and I must say that technology has gone to digital science
and anybody who is not literate with computer is living in the past.

I am here to expand my experience and to learn also to entertain my people.

What hitches prevented you from holding the show?

I came in with a tourist's visa, and it was after this we then
understood that I needed a work visa to perform. The work visa took
two weeks to get, so I couldn't perform, as the event had held. But
definitely I would be performing in Nigeria on November 19th at the
next NITDA event, which is the e-Nigeria event in Abuja.

Keshi Re-Appointed As Super Eagles Coach --NFF

Stephen Keshi has been re-appointed as coach of African champions
Nigeria despite being sacked earlier this month, in the latest twist
in a long-running battle for control of the country's football
federation.

Keshi led the Super Eagles to the African title in 2013 but was sent
packing on October 16 after a string of poor performances, including a
surprise defeat away to Sudan.

But many believe that protracted political battles inside the Nigerian
Football Federation (NFF) were behind his dismissal and his eventual
reinstatement.

Reports surfaced on Thursday suggesting that President Goodluck
Jonathan had intervened to order Keshi be given a new contract.

The new NFF boss Amaju Pinnick, who emerged on top after an extended
power struggle within the NFF, is seen as a Keshi rival, while the
sports minister Tammy Danagogo is known to be a supporter of the
outspoken coach.

The man named by Pinnick to lead the Super Eagles after Keshi's
firing, Shuaibu Amodu, had also come out in favour of Keshi's return
for Nigeria's upcoming matches.

The caretaker coach said he did not have enough time to remake the
squad that his predecessor had shaped.

On Friday, the NFF technical committee said it had "decided to accept"
Amodu's proposal for Keshi to be re-instated for Nigeria's next Africa
Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo and South Africa in November.

NFF President Pinnick said he will not oppose Keshi's return.

"I have never had anything against Keshi as a person. Amodu is someone
we all respect and since that is his opinion and the technical
committee has approved, so be it," Pinnick said.

"I am also assuring Nigerians at home and abroad that the NFF will
give Keshi all the necessary support to successfully prosecute the two
very crucial final matches of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
qualifying series," he added.

Nigeria need to not only win both matches but beat Congo by a margin
of two goals to stand any chance of automatic qualification for the
finals in Morocco next year.

Keshi's return seemed to suggest that the power struggles inside the
NFF will rumble on, with the body's leader accepting the return of a
coach he had ousted.

Meanwhile, Keshi announced the recall of Spain-based striker Ikechukwu
Uche for the two upcoming qualifiers.

Keshi had left Uche out of the 2014 World Cup squad, reportedly for
defying team strategy, in a move which sparked furious debate among
Super Eagles fans.

Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi, Ahmed Musa of CSKA Moscow and
Fenerbache striker Emmanuel Emenike have also been named in the 25-man
squad.

Nigeria squad for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo and
South Africa:

Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama (Lille OSC/FRA), Austin Ejide (Hapoel
Be'er Sheva/ISR), Chigozie Agbim (Gombe United)

Defenders: Elderson Echiejile (Monaco/FRA), Juwon Oshaniwa (Ashdod
FC/ISR), Efe Ambrose (Celtic FC/SCO), Solomon Kwambe (Sunshine Stars),
Godfrey Oboabona (Rizespor FC/TUR), Kenneth Omeruo

Burkina Army Chief Assumes Power After Ousting President

Burkina Faso's army chief Navere Honore Traore said he was taking
power on Friday as head of state after President Blaise Compaore
announced his resignation.

(Photo: Blaise Compaore)

"In line with constitutional measures, and given the power vacuum ... I
will assume as of today my responsibilities as head of state," said
Traore in a statement.

France's Hollande welcomes Burkina Faso leader's resignation

France's President Francois Hollande on Friday welcomed the
resignation of his Burkina Faso counterpart and called for calm and
restraint amid unrest in the former French colony.

"France welcomes the resignation of the president of Burkina Faso
which allows for a way out of the crisis," Hollande's office said in a
statement.

Hollande expressed his "solidarity" with the victims of the recent
unrest wracking

Burkina Faso and called for "calm and restraint from everyone involved."

"France recalls its attachment to the Constitution and therefore to
the quick holding of democratic elections," added Hollande.

Burkina Faso's embattled President Blaise Compaore announced earlier
Friday he was stepping down to make way for elections following a
violent uprising against his 27-year rule.

Hollande had said earlier he was "sure" Compaore would take the "right
decision" to bring calm to the country.

Known in colonial times as Upper Volta, the landlocked country became
independent from France in 1960 and its name was changed to Burkina
Faso ("the land of upright men") in 1984.

EU says Burkina Faso people must decide own future

The EU called Friday for the people of Burkina Faso to have the final
say in who governs the west African country, as President Blaise
Compaore stepped down after mass protests.

The 28-nation bloc said it was ready to help with elections, which
Compaore said in his resignation statement should be held within 90
days.

"The European Union believes that it is up to the people of Burkina
Faso to decide their own future. Any solution must be the result of a
broad consensus and respect the constitution," a spokesman for the
bloc's diplomatic service said in a statement.

The EU was "working with all actors on the ground to find a solution"
and consulting with international partners over the crisis, triggered
by an uprising after Compaore tried to extend his 27 years in power.

"We are ready to work with the people of Burkina Faso to ensure a
return to normality, including the organisation of elections," it
said.

Blaise Compaore Flees Capital Ouagadougou

The ousted president of Burkina Faso has left the capital Ouagadougou
and fled towards the south of the country, a French diplomatic source
said on Friday.

President Blaise Compaore has "left for the south. He's still in the
country," said the diplomatic source, who did not wish to be named.

A crowd gathers on October 31, 2014 in front of army headquarters in
Ouagadougou, demanding that the army take over following the
resignation of the president. Burkina Faso's army chief Navere Honore
Traore said he was taking power on October 31 as head of state after
President Blaise Compaore announced his resignation as tens of
thousands of protesters demanded that he quit immediately after a day
of unrest that saw mass protests and the storming of parliament and
other public buildings.

The source said he was heading for the town of Po, near the border
with Ghana although it was not clear whether the former president
intended to remain in the country.

Paris said that Compaore should have little difficulty in travelling
across borders as he was not subject to an international travel ban.

Compaore has not asked for refuge in France and such a trip is not
being discussed, the source added.

Key dates in the west African state of Burkina Faso after President
Blaise Compaore, who seized power in 1987, resigned on Friday and was
replaced by the army chief.

Compaore served two seven-year terms before a change to the
constitution allowed him to serve another two five-year terms.

He had been seeking to amend the constitution to be able to run for
re-election once again in 2015.

- October 15, 1987: Compaore seizes power in a coup in which his
former friend and one of Africa's most loved leaders, Thomas Sankara,
is ousted and assassinated.

Compaore quickly launches a "rectification" of Sankara's "democratic,
popular revolution", that include the execution of two other comrades
in arms accused of plotting yet another coup.

- June 2, 1991: A new constitution establishes a multi-party system
and brings an end to 11 years of military rule.

- December 1, 1991: Compaore is elected president, but the vote is
marked by an opposition boycott.

- November, 15, 1998: Compaore is re-elected at a vote marked by
another opposition boycott.

- December 13, 1998: The bodies of journalist Norbert Zongo and three
others are found in a burned vehicle as he investigated a murder that
might have had links to Compaore's brother Francois. An unprecedented
political and social crisis ensues.

- April 11, 2000: Deputies modify the constitution to give the
president a five-year mandate, renewable once. In 1997, deputies had
approved an unlimited number of seven-year terms.

- October 7, 2003: Authorities say they have foiled an attempted coup.
Togo and Ivory Coast are suspected of involvement, but deny links with
the putschists.

- December 20-21, 2006: Clashes between police and soldiers in which
five are killed and several dozen injured in the capital.

- February and March 2008: Violent demonstrations erupt against the
high cost of living.

- November 21, 2010: Compaore wins the presidential election at the
first round. Opposition candidates reject the outcome and denounce
"serious irregularities".

Doctors Perform First Heart Surgery On Foetus In India

Doctors at a hospital in the southern city of Hyderabad have
reportedly performed a heart surgery on a foetus in a 25-year-old
woman's womb, local media reported on Friday.

The cardiac surgeon, Nageswara Rao, told reporters in Hyderabad that
in a medical feat, the surgery was the first to be carried out in
India.

The doctors at Care Hospital said that they had to perform the heart
surgery on the foetus to correct a serious condition that has no cure
once the baby is born.

"At 25-26 weeks, the left ventricle started deteriorating, getting
damaged and shrinking.

"We realised this is going to be a serious condition where the left
side of the heart will be too small and not useful and it won't be
possible to perform surgery after birth,'' Rao told the media.

He added that they decided to go for the procedure called "foetal
aortal volvotomy''.

Aftermath Of Tambuwal's Defection: Presidency, PDP Move Against Emeka Ihedioha

Strong indications have emerged that President Goodluck Jonathan and
the leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are
unhappy with the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon.
Emeka Ihedioha, over the latter's private reception for Speaker Aminu
Tambuwal a few hours after the speaker defected from the PDP to the
All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday.
The reception which was said to have taken place at the deputy
speaker's guest house on Pope John Paul Street, off Gana Street,
Maitama, Abuja, few hours after the mini-national convention of the
APC, was attended by most members of APC in the House.
Ihedioha has, however, dismissed the report as 'not sensible' while
Tambuwal directed all enquiries on the matter to the deputy speaker's
men.
The reception, which was initially meant to be a private one for
Tambuwal, was later 'invaded' by other members of the lower chamber,
including some PDP members, a reliable source told our correspondent.
A presidential aide told our correspondent yesterday in Abuja that the
deputy speaker, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, had been asked to explain which
master he had elected to serve "because we cannot understand why he
chose to host Speaker Aminu Tambuwal to a warm reception a few hours
after he defected from our party to APC.
"Is the deputy speaker with us or he is planning to move to the APC
with his boss? The PDP deserves an answer from him.''
The presidential aide asserted that, at this 'critical moment of
political decision,' President Jonathan wanted to be very clear on
whose side the deputy speaker belonged.
The presidential aide continued: "You know this man (referring to
Ihedioha) cannot be trusted; he has consistently worked against the
party in the past. He now appears to be working for the PDP because of
his 2015 political interest. But even at that, we do not know where he
truly belongs."
When contacted, the media adviser to Tambuwal, Malam Imam Imam, said
all clarifications on the issue should be referred to Ihedioha's
aides.
The chief press secretary to the deputy speaker, Oke Epia, however,
described the report as inconsequential.
"This is a non-issue; are those behind this saying the deputy speaker
would want to do that to show that he is in APC? I can tell you that
this is not a sensible thing at all,"Epia said.
The development came as the presidency was said to have directed the
Nigeria Police Force, State Security Service (SSS) and the Nigeria
Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to withdraw their security
personnel attached to the speaker for defecting from the PDP to the
APC.
The acting inspector-general of police, Suleiman Abba, confirmed the
redeployment of the police personnel attached to Tambuwal on
Wednesday.
The force public relations officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, in a statement
yesterday in Abuja, hinged the withdrawal of Tambuwal's security aides
on Section 68(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
Security details attached to the speaker were said to have been
withdrawn yesterday morning.
After his defection on Wednesday, Tambuwal vowed to work with his new
party to dislodge the 'PDP cabal' from power in the 2015 general
election.

UNIZIK 300L Female Student Goes Missing After Leaving Club With Unknown Guy

UNIZIK 300L Female Student goes missing after leaving club with unknown guy

This is a story about a 300level English Language student of Nnamdi
Azikiwe University, Annabel Nzubechukwu Edeh, who has not been seen
since she left a night club with an unknown man many weeks ago in
Awka, Anambra state.

Annabel had gone to the night club with friends on September 17th and
as the group of girls prepared to leave, Annabel told her friends she
was in need of money so would go home with a guy she'd met at the club
and would return to school the following morning. It's been 6 weeks
and Annabel hasn't been seen.

Read Full Story by Oluchukwu Igwe, a 500l Chemical Engineering student
of the same school..
They were six girls, who went to Lounge 24 Gaga, a nightclub in Awka,
the Anambra State capital, on September 17. They are Calista, Uju,
Lovelyn, Ada, Chika and Annabel. All of them are friends and live
close to one another. When they returned to their hostels the
following morning, one of them - Annabel - could not be found.

Where is Annabel? This was the question classmates of Annabel
Nzubechukwu Edeh could not answer. The 300-Level English Language and
Literature student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka
has not been seen anywhere, 43 days after she went to the night club
with her friends.

Was she kidnapped? Is she dead? These are some of the questions being
asked by her distraught family members and friends. She is the only
girl in a family of three.

Annabel, 24, a native of Enugu State, was last seen on Wednesday,
September 17 evening, when she left her Paradise City Hostel in Iyiagu
Estate, Awka.

When she was leaving the club, Annabel reportedly left at midnight
with a guy she met at the club. That was the last time she was seen.

Annabel's friend and hostel mate, who simply gave her name as Ifeoma,
said after clubbing, the girls decided to find a place to sleep before
returning to their hostels. But Annabel, she said, told her friends
she wanted to go with Mmiri, a male acquaintance, she met at the club.
She was said to have told her friends that she was in need of money,
which could have informed her decision to go away with the guy.

When she did not return in the morning, it was learnt that Ada and
Chika called Annabel's phone but were disappointed to hear a male
voice claiming to have found the phone on the ground and asked the
'owner' to come for it.

Ada and Chika, it was gathered, retrieved the phone and contacted
Annabel's elder brother, Ifeanyi, who reported the matter at the State
Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka.

CAMPUSLIFE learnt that Ada and Chika were detained for alleged
complicity but were later released on bail.

When contacted on the phone, it was learnt that Mmiri claimed Annabel
left his house at 3:30am when she refused to enter his room.

But, after the conversation, Mmiri reportedly switched off his phone
and stopped going to a popular bar, where he drinks with his friends.
He is nowhere to be found.

A correspondent's efforts to speak with Annabel's friends she went to
the nightclub with were futile. All of them declined to comment on the
issue.

Annabel's roommate, Ukamaka, gave an account of what happened when she
spoke to CAMPUSLIFE on telephone.

She said: "Annabel told me she was going to the club that evening. Her
friends, Ada and Chika, waited in the compound till they were joined
by their other friends. I had a premonition of the incident in a dream
I had the previous night. I told her not to go to the club but she
refused. When the other three girls arrived, they all left together.
When she did not return in the morning, I called her line but nobody
picked. Later, a man claimed he found it."

Asked to describe the kind of person Annabel is, Ukamaka said that her
roommate is a good Christian and hardworking, saying Annabel is a good
tailor. "I believe Annabel is a victim of circumstance," Ukamaka said.

Ifeanyi said his family remained devastated by the incident. "We are

Neymar Flies Busty Serbian Beauty To Barcelona In His Private Jet

Flashy Brazilian footie star Neymar is using his confidence on the
pitch to woo a new beautiful babe off the pitch - and what better way
than sending his private plane to pick her up.

The 22-year-old apparently met busty model Soraya Vucelic in Ibiza
last summer and has since seemingly fallen for the Serbian stunner.

Neymar, who has scored 11 goals in 11 games this campaign, split with
long-term girlfriend Bruna Marquezine in August. But within weeks the
World Cup star, who held the nation's hope on his shoulders, seems to
have found a new bond with sexy Soraya.

After months of Skyping, the two had reportedly decided to meet up at
the end of October. This week the striker sent his very own private
plane to give Ms Vucelic a luxury lift to the Spanish city.

He ordered a pilot to pick up Soraya and a friend before wining and
dining his date and showing her the city's best sights.

Soraya, who is six years older than Neymar at 28, later posted a sexy
photo to her Instagram with her looking out of his plane window
wearing his shirt.

Apple CEO Tim Cook: 'I'm Proud To Be Gay'

Apple Inc CEO, Tim Cook, 53, revealed today October 30th that he is
gay. Tim, who became CEO when he succeeded Steve Jobs on August 24th
2011, has never discussed his sexual preference in public before today
but said that many of his colleagues knew he was gay.

Tim, who is worth an estimated $500million, came out as gay in an
editorial for Bloomberg Business Week, stating: "Let me be clear: I'm
proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God
has given me".

Tim Cook writes for. Business Week

Throughout my professional life, I've tried to maintain a basic level
of privacy. I come from humble roots, and I don't seek to draw
attention to myself. Apple is already one of the most closely watched
companies in the world, and I like keeping the focus on our products
and the incredible things our customers achieve with them.

At the same time, I believe deeply in the words of Dr. Martin Luther
King, who said: "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What
are you doing for others?' " I often challenge myself with that
question, and I've come to realize that my desire for personal privacy
has been holding me back from doing something more important. That's
what has led me to today.

For years, I've been open with many people about my sexual
orientation. Plenty of colleagues at Apple know I'm gay, and it
doesn't seem to make a difference in the way they treat me. Of course,
I've had the good fortune to work at a company that loves creativity
and innovation and knows it can only flourish when you embrace
people's differences. Not everyone is so lucky.

While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven't publicly
acknowledged it either, until now. So let me be clear: I'm proud to be
gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given
me.

Being gay has given me a deeper understanding of what it means to be
in the minority and provided a window into the challenges that people
in other minority groups deal with every day. It's made me more
empathetic, which has led to a richer life.

It's been tough and uncomfortable at times, but it has given me the
confidence to be myself, to follow my own path, and to rise above
adversity and bigotry. It's also given me the skin of a rhinoceros,
which comes in handy when you're the CEO of Apple.

The world has changed so much since I was a kid. America is moving
toward marriage equality, and the public figures who have bravely come
out have helped change perceptions and made our culture more tolerant.
Still, there are laws on the books in a majority of states that allow
employers to fire people based solely on their sexual orientation.
There are many places where landlords can evict tenants for being gay,
or where we can be barred from visiting sick partners and sharing in
their legacies. Countless people, particularly kids, face fear and
abuse every day because of their sexual orientation.

I don't consider myself an activist, but I realize how much I've
benefited from the sacrifice of others. So if hearing that the CEO of
Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he
or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire
people to insist on their equality, then it's worth the trade-off with
my own privacy.

I'll admit that this wasn't an easy choice. Privacy remains important
to me, and I'd like to hold on to a small amount of it. I've made
Apple my life's work, and I will continue to spend virtually all of my
waking time focused on being the best CEO I can be.

That's what our employees deserve—and our customers, developers,
shareholders, and supplier partners deserve it, too. Part of social
progress is understanding that a person is not defined only by one's
sexuality, race, or gender. I'm an engineer, an uncle, a nature lover,
a fitness nut, a son of the South, a sports fanatic, and many other
things. I hope that people will respect my desire to focus on the
things I'm best suited for and the work that brings me joy.

The company I am so fortunate to lead has long advocated for human
rights and equality for all. We've taken a strong stand in support of
a workplace equality bill before Congress, just as we stood for
marriage equality in our home state of California. And we spoke up in
Arizona when that state's legislature passed a discriminatory bill
targeting the gay community.

We'll continue to fight for our values, and I believe that any CEO of
this incredible company, regardless of race, gender, or sexual
orientation, would do the same. And I will personally continue to
advocate for equality for all people until my toes point up.
