After the handover ceremony in Abuja, the former Nigerian President,
Goodluck Jonathan, has returned to his home town in Bayelsa State and
was welcomed by the former governors and the present Governor of the
Sate, Seriake Dickson.
The former President, earlier on Friday, handed over to President
Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, the nation's capital.
In Bayelsa, the ceremony was quite elaborate and the people were very
excited to have him back, saying they would always support him in
future endeavours.
Goodluck Jonathan was President of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015 under the
platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The former President has been the talk of the continent, with huge
commendations for his decision to call President Muhammadu Buhari to
congratulate him even before he was declared winner of the March 28
presidential election.
Dr Jonathan is from Otuoke in the oil-rich state in southern Nigeria.
