Why I Resigned As PDP BOT Chairman — Tony Anenih

Tony Anenih, the latest casualty of the crisis rocking the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) has explained why he decided to resign as
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Party.

Anenih's resignation was made known earlier today, May 20, by the
National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party in a statement which
indicated that the party chieftain resigned from his post on personal
grounds.

However new details in a letter written by Anenih to President
Goodluck Jonathan have revealed the reasons why he decided to throw in
the towel.

According to Premium Times, in the letter dated May 20, 2015 and
titled: Notice of my decision to step down as Chairman, Board of
Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, the party chieftain said his
decision to quit was to enable the president to effectively assume the
chairmanship of the BoT.

He recalled that in an earlier meeting with Jonathan, he indicated his
intention to step down from the office of the Chairman of the party's
Board to pave way for the president to assume the position.

Mr Anenih in the letter also pledged his unflagging loyalty to the
party and promised to continue to pray for the prosperity of Nigeria
and the PDP.

Mr. Anenih's resignation followed a similar decision by the party's
chairman, Adamu Mu'azu, who also stepped down on Wednesdayafter weeks
of running battles with party chieftains who wanted him out due to the
party's abysmal outing in the just concluded election.
