James Ibori Makes Controversial Statement About Diepreye Alamieyeseigha

Former governor of Delta state, James Ibori, has said his counterpart
in Bayelsa state, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, had just one house in his
lifetime - which was situated in his home village.

"How many people would believe that Alamieyeseigha had only one house?
And that is in his village, Amassoma! One day, no matter how long the
delay, Alamieyeseigha's real story would be told, the truth about him
would be unearthed and the world would know the kind of virulent
politics he was victim of." he said following Alamieyeseigha's death.

According to him, Alamieyeseigha was never corrupt.

"Alamieyeseigha became the victim of great hypocrisy masquerading as
nationalism and anti-corruption fight," Ibori said in a statement
signed on his behalf by Tony Eluemunor, his spokesman.

The statement generated a reaction on Nigeria's popular forum,
Nairaland, with many expressing high degrees of unbelief at the
statement.

Over 90% of Nigerian politicians are perceived to be corrupt and James
Ibori and Diepreye Alamieyeseigha aren't exempted.
