Imo State Govt Scraps 8 Ministries

Imo State Government has in line with what it called "disturbing
economic situation in the country", announced the reduction of its
ministries from the existing 22 to 13, as the organized labour warns
that it would react if this leads to job losses.

While the government statement was signed by Governor Rochas
Okorocha's Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mr. Samuel Onwuemeodo, the
organized labour made its position known through the State Chairman of
Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. Austin Chilakpu.

"Following the disturbing general economic situation in the country,
which has compelled both the Federal Government and the states to
resort to the adoption of certain adjustment measures and the
determination of the Rescue Mission government in the state to make
the ministries effective and productive, the number of ministries in
the state has been pruned from twenty two to thirteen".
