Imo Govt Bans Construction Of Mortuary Near Residential Homes

In its effort to sanitize Imo and make it a modern model state, the state government has put to stop the construction of a mortuary near residential buildings at Aladinma, Owerri.
The Chief of Staff Imo Government House, Chief Uche Nwosu made this known yesterday during his working visit to different Estates in Owerri.
Chief Nwosu while at Aladinma extension near West African Examination Board (WAEC) discovered a mortuary that was sited near residential buildings and immediately ordered the owner to stop further construction on the project.
In his words “we are here to verify the authenticity of the demonstration and complains made by people especially the residents who live in Aladinma Housing Estate extension, concerning the site of a big mortuary near their homes.
Speaking further, he disclosed that OCDA has been directed to look into the building approval and compare it with what have in the master plan adding that the contractor should be properly investigated.
“I still have reservation about the mortuary because it is very close to residential buildings” Uche Nwosu submitted.
The owner of the project, Dr Ego Osuala who said he is a Chief consultant physician, in his reaction said he has heard all the complains and demonstration of people who claimed to be residents living near the hospital mortuary. “This place is designed to help people. I have a Hospital here and a Hospital of this magnitude should have” mortuary.
