NLC’s president, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, made this known to newsmen in reaction to claims that the position of Labour on subsidy removal had changed.

Wabba said the best way to deal with the rot in the petroleum sector is to break up the cabal in the sector and opening it to fair competition, The Daily Independent reports.

“Our mass protest in January 2012 against an increase in prices of petroleum products opened up a can of worms in the sector prompting legal proceedings against some of the culprits, he said.

He regretted that none of the persons involved in corruption in the sector had been punished despite the overwhelming evidence against them.

He urged President Buhari to ensure that all persons culpable in the rot in the sector be prosecuted, adding that “the real solution to the crisis in the sector lies in ensuring that domestic refining is promoted”.

Shortly after President Buhari was sworn in on May29, the NLC had urged the his administration to pursue policies and strategies aimed at solving the many problems in the Nigerian economy, so as to win over the masses.
