The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Niger State,
Mr. Steven Ehoda-adi, yesterday said 281 fake corps members identified
at the state orientation camp, Paiko, have been sent out of the camp
after failing to present their call-up letters.
The coordinator told reporters shortly after the closing ceremony of
the 2014 Batch B orientation exercise that those affected had nothing
to show as having qualified for admission into the camp.
According to him, some of them gave the flimsy excuse of being
attacked by armed robbers on their way to the camp, thereby, losing
their call up letters, others claimed to have misplaced them
outrightly, while some only presented photocopies of the letters,
which he said is not acceptable.
Declaring the orientation camp closed, Governor Mua'zu Babangida Aliyu
said despite the insecurity in the country occasioned by the
activities of the Boko Haram sect, the unity of the country was
non-negotiable.
He said though insurgency is threatening the relative peace in some
parts of the country, the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents
would soon be brought to an end.
