The Director General, National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-Gen.
Johnson Olawunmi has stated that beginning from today, registration of
prospective corps members will be done online.
Addressing Batch B corps members at the NYSC orientation camp in Tsafe
Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Olawunmi said the next batch
of corps members will not have to go to their respective institutions
to collect call up letters, instead, they would simply log on to the
NYSC portal, download and print the letters from there.
"Corp members will no longer have to go to their institutions to
collect call up letters. He or she can register online from anywhere
in the world and our portal will be ready by today. We are committed
to ensuring that the scheme is fully digitized so that it can meet
international standards", he said.
On the involvement of corps members in the 2015 general elections, the
NYSC DG said they will take active part in the process.
"No corps member should involve him/ herself in any act of misconduct
and if anyone is caught receiving gratification from politicians, just
to manipulate or give someone advantage, that person will not be
spared. All necessary measures will be taken to guarantee your safety
and security and you must be ready to face the challenges", he said.
Speaking earlier, the state coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Ruth Bakka,
said they have registered 1,740 corps members for the exercise in the
state.
