that his administration would do everything necessary to implement the
recommendations of the conference.
The President gave the assurance at the closing ceremony of the
National Conference in Abuja on Thursday, where he formally accepted
the conference report and brought the conference to a close.
He appealed to the different arms of Government and Nigerians to play
their role to ensure that the conference signalled a new dawn for
Nigeria.
The President added that the success recorded by the National
Conference had proved those who had predicted that nothing good would
come out of it wrong.
"Those who dismissed the entire conference ab initio as a 'diversion'
have been proved wrong as what you achieved is contrary to their
forecast. They said the conference would end in a deadlock as Nigeria
had reached a point where the constituent parts could no longer agree
on any issue." Jonathan said.
