South African President, Jacob Zuma, has had a telephone discussion
with Nigeria's President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan over the recent
xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other foreign nationals in South
Africa.
The two Presidents reaffirmed the warm and cordial relationship
between South Africa and Nigeria and pledged that the two countries
will continue to work together for the good of their citizens, and
Africa as a whole.
President Jonathan expressed his support for the efforts of South
Africa to arrest the attacks on foreign nationals and to ensure the
safety and security of all citizens.
President Zuma will attend the inauguration of the President-elect of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari, which is to
hold on May 29.
Last week, President Zuma held a closed door meeting with various
foreign national groups and African civil society groupsto seek an
end to Xenophobic Attacks.
