Elected PDP Lagos Lawmakers Vow Not To Defect

The eight members of the Peoples Democratic Party that won elections
into the Lagos State House of Assembly have vowed not to defect to the
All Progressives Congress which has 32 members in the incoming 8th
Lagos Assembly.

The PDP members said this after receiving their Certificates of Return
from the Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos on
Wednesday.

Mr. Dipo Olorunrinu, who spoke on behalf of the PDP members, said the
eight of them would work harmoniously with their APC counterparts.

Olorunrinu, who will represent Amuwo Odofin constituency 1, said they
would put the people of Lagos first in everything.

He said, "When we resume at the House, we will not be looking at party
(politics) because we are looking at the general interest of the
people of Lagos because it is paramount to us. We will be looking at
the success of Lagos as a whole.

"On behalf of the PDP, I can tell you that we are too many to scatter
and the rumour about us defecting remains a rumour. Of course you
know, politics is all about rumours."

Another PDP member, Mr. Oluwa Fatai, who will represent
Ajeromi/Ifelodun constituency 2, said he would sponsor several bills
that would benefit his constituents.
