Mike Umeh Becomes NFF Interim President

With the lingering crisis rocking the Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF) finally sweeping away Aminu Maigari out of office as the NFF
president after a vote of no confidence was passed on him by the
executive committee of the NFF, his first vice, Mike Umeh is now new
NFF boss. In a meeting presided by Umeh, the committee accused the
former president of the NFF of financial recklessness, misapplication
and maladministration. Shehu Adamu moved the motion for the vote of no
confidence and seconded by Deji Tinubu.

A communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the
chairman communique drafting committee, Ma'azu Suleiman, the Committee
approved the immediate dismissal of Maigari from the NFF executive
committee."

The committee also appointed first vice president of the NFF, Mike
Okeke Umeh as acting President to preside over the affairs of the
federation, pending the composition of the new executive committee
after the elections on Tuesday, August 26, 2014.

The board commended world football governing body, FIFA and the
Confederation of African Football (CAF) for their keen interests in
the development of Nigerian football and pledged that the country will
continue to abide by the dictates of FIFA and CAF Statutes and the
FIFA -approved NFF Statutes and reaffirmed that the 2014 Elective
Congress/General Assembly of the Nigeria Football Federation scheduled
for August 26 will still hold.
