Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan will be shifted to Umueze I Community in
Ehime Mbano Council Area of Imo State on Sunday 16th November, 2014
Reason is that the Church edifice, ST. Michael's Catholic Parish built
by a frontline contractor and business mogul, Chief Tony Chukwu
(Onweghihekariri Chineka) will be officially dedicated to the Almighty
God.
Briefing newsmen, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Nwosu narrated
that the new building sited at St Michael's Catholic Church premises
in Umueze 1were the brain concepts of Chief Tony Chukwu following his
desirous decision to build for God.
"The old structures in this parish were demolished between December,
2012 and January, 2013.
It was targeted that new structures (buildings) will be completed
within a space of one year, but unforeseen, circumstances delayed the
completion of the project. Every structure in this Church is now
wearing a new look. The floor of the parish premises is now designed
with marble model called onics stone which Bible reveals is found in
Heaven. I am aware that Chief Tony Chukwu who built and furnished this
edifice did not use such unique stone in his compound", the parish
priest maintained.
Rev. Fr. Nwosu described Chief Tony Chukwu as a rare personality who
had touched lives of the poor in the community and Nigeria at large.
According to him, Chief Tony Chukwu has sponsored several scholarship
schemes for youths and empowerment programme where 60 people received
five hundred thousand naira each.
He however revealed the plan of Chief Chukwu to roll out another
empowerment programme where 100 people will benefit five hundred
thousand naira cash each.
The parish priest thanked Chief Tony Chukwu and distinguished
personalities who contributed to the church building project praying
that Almighty God will continue to bless them.
In his contribution, Chief Tony Chukwu's Kinsman, Mr. Evan Duru noted
that Chief Chukwu's kind gestures would be stimulated to his wife,
Lady Rose Chukwu's unparallel human kindness. According to him, Lady
Rose Chukwu (JP) devoted her interest in comprehensive import trade
and had inspired her husband to extended voluminous supports to the
societal less privileged with Sundry Philanthropic gestures while
remarkable bold step of her and husband is the current sponsorship of
Angelus on Radio Nigeria, Heart land FM Owerri, Imo
