Two Armed Robbers Set Ablaze In Anambra

The bad old days when dare devil criminals terrorized residents and
visitors of the commercial city of Onitsha and its neighbors
resurrected today just as two dare devil motorbike armed robbers who
have been terrorizing Nkpor and its environs, Idemili North Local
Government Area, Anambra state, were yesterday set ablaze by irate
mob.

The end came for the robbers when they attempted to rob a Northern
trader at gun point. The trader who came to procure goods at the Nkpor
New tyre market was intercepted by the robbers at the road side under
the watchful eyes of passerby.

According to eye withness, the robbers operating on their bike, they
stopped the trader along the Onitsha/Enugu expressway, close to the
market at a gun-point and ordered him to hand over the money he was
carrying in a bag to them.

As he was about to resist the order, they shot at him for three
consecutive times but the bullet did not penetrate his body.

Seeing that the bullet did not penetrate they sensed danger and were
about to runaway when the trader brought out his dagger knife and
stabbed one of them on the chest.

Luck however, ran out of them as on-coming vehicle hit their bike and
both fell off as they mounted on their bike to run away.
On lookers who were watching the incident immediately mobilized
themselves, turned to a mob, arrested the two robbers and set them
ablaze.

On a tip off the Police stormed the scene, recovered their gun and
motorbike which they took away while the bodies of the robbers were
being roasted there.

Contacted, the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr. Hassan Musa,
confirmed the incident, adding that investigation is on going.
