Imo CP Reads Riot Act, Warns MASSOB To Sheath Swords

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, has read out a
riot act to criminals, saying he would adopt other methodologies that
would lead to total elimination of violent crimes in the state.

Briefing newsmen at the police command headquarters in Owerri, Lakanu
who has arrested members of two notorious robber gangs that terrorised
some residents of the Aladimma area in Owerri shortly on assumption of
duty, said that he was poised to creating a crime-free environment
that would make economic and business activities to thrive in the
state without hindrance.

He said, "The state police command had commenced the replacement of
structures that would deal decisively with crime and criminality.

"We have emplaced strategic training, re-training and re-organisation
of the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force with a view to improve
professionalism in police performance, service delivery, ethics and
conducts."

Lakanu pledged to work in tandem with various communities in the state
by co-opting them into the activities of his command and making them
part of the policing strategies in order to achieve the stated goals.

He urged the citizens of the state to remain law-abiding at all times.
