EFCC Arrests Nyako's Son For Alleged Corruption

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have
arrested Abdul-Aziz Nyako, the son of impeached Governor of Adamawa
State, Murtala Nyako.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said
in an electronic mail on Friday that Abdul-Aziz was picked up by EFCC
operatives in Gombe.

Uwujaren said that the former Governor's son was immediately flown to
Abuja 'where he is currently being grilled by a crack team of
detectives who had been working on the Adamawa investigation for
several months.'

The EFCC had declared Nyako and his son wanted for money
laundering-related offences two weeks ago.

Uwujaren said that Abdul-Aziz was being grilled in relation with how
N15bn belonging to the Adamawa State Government was laundered through
five accounts of companies belonging to him.

The said companies under investigation are Blue Opal Nigeria limited,
Crust Energy Nigeria Limited, Blue Ribbon Multilinks Limited, Tower
Assets Management Limited and Blue Ribbon Bureau De Change.

The EFCC Spokesman said that the money was moved into the accounts of
the companies domiciled in a new generation account with the help of
the manager who is also an in-law to Nyako.

It was stated that the Accounts Officer was quizzed and released on bail.

He said that one of Abdul-Aziz companies, the Blue Opal, is believed
to own several investments and an estate in Abuja while his father's
accounts Office own "several properties and investments scattered
around Abuja, Yola and Kano."
