Suspected Killers Of 10,000 Job Leader Arrested, Family Alleges Threat To Life

One of the two brothers suspected of the brutal killing of Dr Ugonna
Omereonye, leader of the embattled Imo 10,000 Jobs beneficiaries, who
were at large after the unholy act is now cooling his heels at the
Owerri Headquarters of the Imo State Police Command.

According to the deceased's family, the suspect, Mr Onyinyechi Okeke
Nweremizu was transferred to the police headquarters in Owerri after
spending two days at the Omuma Police Station, Oru East, following
late Dr Ugonna's family petition to the state commissioner of police
where they narrated how the nabbed suspect Onyinyechi and his brother
Izuchukwu who is still at large, both members of the Imo Security
Network (ISN) established by Governor Rochas Okorocha, came to their
house at about 7pm on Friday, April 10, knocked on late Ugonna's door,
ordered him outside and allegedly shot him twice on the chest.

Mrs. Susan Omereonye and Miss Chinenye Omereonye the deceased's mother
and sister respectively, went further to disclose to Trumpeta how they
had received machete cuts from the two brothers, when they tried to
stop them from escaping after killing Ugonna. They stated that due to
the confrontation and resistance from them, the killers managed to
escape leaving their motorcycle behind, which has been carried by the
police as evidence/exhibit.

It was also revealed to this newspaper that the security agent has
been able to match the cartridge/bullet used in killing late Ugonna
with the ISN gun found on Mr Onyinyechi. They also disclosed that the
commissioner of police has ordered for autopsy on Ugonna's corpse to
ascertain the real cause of his death and also has designated the DC
State CID to investigate the petition.

When the Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Mr Enwerem was
contacted, he confirmed that the suspect has been transferred to the
CID who are investigating the matter.

However, members of late Ugonna has called on the state police command
and other legal security agencies to come to their aid as their lives
are threatened by unknown persons through phone calls and other coded
ways. They however alleged that the threat is coming from the run-away
Izuchukwu, their allies and collaborators as it started after the
transfer of Onyinyechi to Owerri. They also expressed displeasure over
the attitude of their traditional ruler over the ugly incident. Mrs
Susan Omereonye wondered why the traditional ruler, Eze Eugene Okorie
has not come to sympathise with the family or find out what really
happened, inspite of the fact that late Dr Ugonna was his palace
secretary.
