We Need Peace In Imo State --Obinugwu Community To Okorocha

Apparently miffed by the ceaseless aggression against their
Traditional Ruler, HRH Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya by the Governor of
Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the people of Obinugwu Autonomous
Community in Orlu, Imo State, has risen in defence of their Monarch
with a demand from the governor that Imo State needs peace and nothing
short of that.

The Obinugwu Community also informed the governor that "there is no
alternative to peace. In an atmosphere of rancor and chaos, nobody is
a winner".

In a statement endorsed by Sir Fred Okeke, Chief Innocent Awuzie, Mrs.
Helen Chigborogu and Mr. Uchenna Ohaonu, Town Union President, Palace
Secretary, Woman Leader and Youth Leader respectively, on behalf of
Obinugwu Community, the people noted that the appointment of Eze
Ilomuanya as Chancellor of Federal University, Bernin Kebbi, Kebbi
State, "is an eloquent testimony that your efforts at building bridges
of brotherhood, Unity and Stability in Nigeria are appreciated.

In contending that the appointment was well deserved and should not
breed envy, the Obinugwu Community described their monarch "as the
torch bearer of Igbo Traditional Institution who has remained a
selfless and committed leader whose sterling leadership qualities have
been beneficial to Obinugwu Community, Ndigbo and Nigeria".

The people also felicitated with Governor Okorocha on his re-election
but appealed to him to resolve whatever differences he has with Eze
Ilomuanya.

They reminded the governor that Eze Ilomuanya's appointment as a
University Chancellor is a plus to Orlu zone where both of them hail
from and therefore wondered why it should attract any form of
bickering.

"Obinugwu Community implores His Excellency to be magnanimous in
victory. We do not wish to believe that his re-election will usher in
turbulent period as some people have insinuated. We hope His
Excellency proves his critics wrong", the people stated, adding that
they are re-affirming their loyalty and support for Eze Ilomuanya at
all times because he has done the community proud.

"While we preach peace because there is no alternative to it, we
equally implore all detractors to leave Obinugwu Community alone. We
are peace loving and progressive minded and wish to remain so", the
statement concluded.
