Terrorists Remind Buhari Of Their Existence: 26 Killed In Maiduguri Mosque Suicide Bombing

Just two days into the presidency of President Muhammadu Buhari,
terrorists troubling the country's Northeast have reminded him of
their existence and the need to wipe them. Sadly, 26 people were
killed in a suicide bomb attack and 28 others were injured.

The attack was reportedly perpetrated by a suicide bomber who sneaked
into a mosque along Ali Kotoko Road, near Monday Market in Maiduguri,
Borno State capital when the afternoon prayers were being said.

According to Modu Fugu of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), the
explosion occurred when the prayer session was about to commence.

"We were terrified by the loud explosion that rocked the mosque near
bicycle sellers market and other shops when the prayer session was cut
and worshippers fled to safety. But many were killed and scores
injured," Fugu stated.

Borno State Police Command confirmed the mosque blast, but said it was
yet to get the casualty figure. The Red Cross and volunteers were
reportedly involved in the rescue operation.

Although no group has taken responsibility for the attack, Boko Haram
is suspected to have perpetrated it. The Islamist sect has been
terrorizing Nigeria since 2009, killing over 10,000 people and
displacing millions.
