Imo Community Decries Govt. Neglect, Threatens To Vote Against Okorocha

The people of Okuku community in Owerri West Local Government Area of
Imo State have threatened to vote against the governor Rochas Okorocha
All Progressives Congress (APC) government for abandoning the only
major road linking them with other neighbouring communities.

The people of the area expressed their displeasure during an
unscheduled visit by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
governorship candidate in the State Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho to the
area.

They alleged that they voted massively for Governor Okorocha in 2011
but was abandoned by the governor after the election. They however
lamented over the hardship they have encountered over the years owing
to the deplorable nature of the roads in their community.

According to them contractor handling the road had also abandoned his
construction equipment in the area for more since 2012 because of non
payment of the contract sum.

The spokes man of the community, Mr. Chukwuma Njoku said that the road
is very strategic to them as it connected the area to communities in
Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area and other food producing
communities and pleaded with Capt Ihenacho to consider the road as one
of his priority projects if voted into office as governor.

Responding, Capt Ihenacho observed the economic advantage of the road
and expressed shock at its deplorable nature.
'This place is a food producing area that also links to other major
food producing areas in Owerri and Ohaj-Egbema. Considering its
nearness to Owerri metropolis, it is indeed a very important road. But
it is unfortunate that vehicles cannot pass beyond the local Area
(L.A.) Primary School axis of this road. That is a very big economic
disadvantage to our people...'.

The ex minister further used the opportunity to unfold his manifesto
for the state and pleaded for the people to also vote other APGA
candidates during the March and April elections.
