FG Appoints Eze Ilomuanya Chancellor, Federal University, Bernin Kebbi

The Obi of Obinugwu and Chairman, Imo State and South East Councils of
Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya has expanded the
scope of his authority as the Federal Government has appointed him the
Chancellor of the Federal University, Bernin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

Eze Ilomuanya, whom many pundits have likened to the proverbial cat
with nine lives, has survived all the ferocious onslaughts from
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, whom he has been having a
running battle with since June, 2011. In spite of several Court
judgments and rulings including that of the Apex Court, the Supreme
Court, in Eze Ilomuanya's favour affirming him as Chairman of Imo
State Council of Traditional Rulers, the governor has remained averse
to these judicial pronouncements. But as the aggressions and scheming
by the governor to pull him down rages, Eze Ilomuanya has against all
odds, continued to soar higher.

Also appointed Chancellor of other 37 Federal Universities in the
country alongside Eze Ilomuanya are the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji
Muhammad Saad Abubakar III (University of Ibadan), Ooni of Ife, Oba
Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II (University of Nigeria, Nsukka), Emir of
Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II (University of Benin), the Obi of
Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe (Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria) and the
Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha (Federal University
of Technology, Owerri).

Others are the Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) Eze Eberechi Dick
(University of Abuja), HRH Umo Adiaka (Modibo Adama University of
Technology, Yola), Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu (Federal
University of Technology, Akure), Tor Tiv, HRH Akawe Torkula
(University of Calabar) and Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu
Abubakar (Michael University of Agriculture, Umudike).

On the list also includes the Asagba of Asaba, HRH Prof. Chike Edoziem
(Federal University, Gashua, Gombe State), Isuoha of Ohaisu, HRH
Ezeogu Engr. Ewa Elechi (Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State),
Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V (University of
Agriculture, Abeokuta), Igwe (Ambassador) Lawrence Agubuzu (National
Rilwanu University, Lagos) and Oba of Lagos, Alhaji Rilwanu Akiolu
(University of Sokoto), amongst others.

A release to this effect signed by the Minister of Education, Mallam
Ibrahim Shekarau stated that President Goodluck Jonathan who approved
this appointment further directed that all Vice Chancellors of the
affected Federal Universities should liaise with their newly appointed
Chancellors to arrange the appropriate investiture for the 38
Chancellors.
