15 suspected cultists arrested in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has arrested two 13-year-old boys and 13
others for allegedly belonging to secret cult groups and engaging in
suspected cult activities.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the 15 male suspects were apprehended on
separate occasions and locations in the state.

According to the Command, eight of the suspects, all of whom were
teenagers, were nabbed in Unewa, Uromi, in Esan North East local
government area of the state on August 8 for belonging to a secret
cult group known as 'Hallah of the Night', while a battle axe was
recovered, after "they confessed to be members of the cult group."

The Command also stated that the seven others, suspected to be members
of another cult group, 'Eiye confraternity', in Ologbe, in Ikpoba Okha
LGA, were arrested on August 10, with the cult's flag, one battle axe
and a calabash in their possession, sequel to their confession.

The Command's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Noble Uwoh, in
statement made available to newsmen in Benin, said the suspects
include, Edobor Joshua, 15; Ojadi Godfrey, 14; Okoeko ThankGod, 13;
Uhomohbhi Destiny, 14; Igbodolor Lucky, 13; Israel Donaldson, 15 and
Lucky Ojiabulu, 16.

Others are Ezeji Chukwuemeka, 23; Ejor Moses, 23; Johnson Sunday, 20;
Adelowo Kelvin, 35; Eje Monday, 17; Agabi Christopher, 27 and Evans
Omokaro, 29.

Uwoh said, "The suspects will be charged to court tomorrow to face the
full wrath of the law."
