9Ice declares political ambition

GONGO Aso crooner, Abolore Akande, known as 9Ice who has somewhat
disappeared from the music scene for a while has resurfaced, only this
time as a political aspirant, of a yet-to-be declared political party.
The singer officially made public his intent to contest for the House
of Representatives seat for Ogbomosho North/South/Orire Federal
Constituency of Oyo State in the February general election of 2015 on
Tuesday.

9Ice is the latest entertainer to declare intent to run for an
elective office come 2015 general elections. Only last week, ace
comedian, Julius Agwu rolled out his posters, declaring his ambition
to be the next governor of rivers State. Others who have also caught
the political bug include Jibola Dabor, Kate Henshaw, Desmond Elliot
and a handful of others, warming up to do same.

However, 9Ice's declaration has generated avalanche of reactions as
some believed the singer doesn't have what it takes to be a leader
while others contend that he should be given a chance.

One critic, named Fola on Best of Nollywood chat-room platform fired
at the singer, saying the singer is irresponsible. "9ice is an
irresponsible fellow who could not hold a marriage. This guy's
ambition is dead on delivery" he writes.

But another respondent, Bimbo Johnson on the platform replied Fola,
saying "It's nice to have 9ice in the affairs of this country. It's a
welcome development, if young, intelligent, brave and energetic
Nigerians begin to stand up and get involved in serving this great
country"

The chats go back and forth with most questioning the Alapomeji's
personality, education, sophistication and ability to present motions
and defend them as a lawmaker.
