Police uncover explosives in Bauchi

The police in Bauchi State yesterday, uncovered improvised explosive
devices (IEDs) buried inside a building in Azare, Katagum Local
Government Area of the state.

The command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Haruna,
confirmed the incident to newsmen in his office in Bauchi, saying the
discovery was made on Wednesday afternoon.

Haruna said the Explosive Ordinance Unit of the command successfully
recovered and rendered safe an IED gas cylinder buried in a building
site located at VIO Quarters in Azare, Bauchi.

The PPRO said other items recovered included 37 rounds of
double-barrelled cartridge, pointing out that the building was
occupied by hoodlums five months ago, before they were driven away.

He commended the level of security consciousness of the people of the
state and urged them to do more to promote security and safety.
