APGA Chieftain, Lawyer Kidnapped In Aba

Gunmen have abducted a chieftain of All Progressives Grand Alliance,
APGA, in Abia State, Chinedu Ikenga and an Aba-based lawyer,
identified as O. O. Anya.

Ikenga was said to have been abducted along Opobo Road, near Grail
Centre, Ogbor Hill, along Opobo Junction at about 9p.m., while he was
returning to his house, while Anya was kidnapped at Abayi.

Sources toldVanguardthat the gunmen intercepted the APGA chieftain and
riddled his car with bullets before whisking him away.

While the gunmen had not established contact with Ikenga's family,
some of the party supporters alleged that the incident was politically
motivated.

When contacted, Abia State Commissioner of Police, Joshak Habila, said
he was not aware of the abduction of the APGA chieftain, adding that
the police had advanced efforts to rescue the lawyer.
