The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Idrissa Timta whose whereabouts was
a mystery after his town was attacked and captured by Boko Haram
insurgents last week has resurfaced as he was able to escape from his
abductors.
The emir, it was gathered was held hostage at one of the mountains of
Gwoza by the insurgents alongside some of his subjects.
The emir was said to have escaped captivity with some of his subjects
on Sunday night due to heavy rainfall which allowed for relaxed watch
from their abductors.
According to sources, the emir and one of his district heads also held
captive were able to escape with others to Madagali in Adamawa state.
The source revealed that the emir is being prepared for a trip to
Yola where he is expected to board a flight to Abuja.
In Abuja he will be expected to undergo medical checkup.
It would be recalled that the emir was enthroned about three months
ago when his father, his predecessor was killed by insurgents in a
highway raid.
