A Gift For TuFace's Wife, Annie

Annie Idibia, wife of popular Nigerian hip hop artiste, Tuface Idibia,
has been a popular face in the entertainment industry, more so since
she got married to her heart-throb.

Few days to the classy wedding which held in Dubai on March 23, 2013,
the Akwa Ibom State-born actress got a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser
Prado Sports Utility Vehicle from her state governor, Godswill
Akpabio, as her wedding gift, 'being a daughter of the state'.

It is noteworthy that the gift was trailed by criticisms and encomiums
from members of the public. However, in spite of the mixed reactions,
the Idibias are quietly enjoying their machine, which is valued at
about N10m.

For those who are after a well-built traditional SUV with genuine
off-road capability and a more road-focused SUV, the Toyota Prado is a
strong choice.

It prides in its rugged and can-do attitude, and feels exceptionally
well put together with the capability to go where some of its
competitors won't dare. It remains a completely practical and
comfortable car that can be cruised around town. Yet it offers
fantastic audio and virtually every kind of driver and passenger
comfort you can think of.

Inside, Prado is just as stylish and just as functional. The centre
stack is organised to give you excellent overview and control of
off-road functions with a touch of luxury. It offers comfort to help
make sure passengers are refreshed and relaxed, wherever the
destination.

Performance

The SUV is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo diesel base engine or a
4.0-litre petrol V6 engine, producing a phenomenal pulling power, up
to 127kw and 410Nm of torque or 202kW/381Nm for the V6. It uses about
8.5litres of fuel per 100km, given its massive 150L fuel tank. This
means the five-door SUV can do about 1,750km on one full tank. It
comes in four trims: GX GXL, VX and Kakadu.

The All wheel drive comes standard with a five-speed sequential
automatic transmission, with a six-speed manual gear type available as
an option. It has a differential lock, a device which disables the
differential of a motor vehicle in slippery conditions to improve
grip.

Features

It sits on a distinctively large & stylish 17" or optional 18" alloy
wheels. The interior is designed with high quality finishes
throughout, a layout that puts controls and instruments exactly where
you need them and a level of comfort you could get used to very
quickly. Its standard features include leather accented interior
including seats and premium steering wheels, with audio and telephone
controls, blu-ray rear seat DVD entertainment system, three wireless
headphones, stylish LED halogen headlamps with accompanying daylight
running lamps and automatic headlamp levelling.

Other features include CD player with 6 CD stacker, LCD touch screen,
MP3 compatibility, AM/FM tuner, optional roof rails, 3-zone climate
control, air conditioning, front and rear parking sensors, optional
satellite navigation, rain sensing wipers and radar cruise control.

Safety

The 2013 Prado is equipped with safety features such as seven SRS
airbags, active braking intelligence, driver assist devices such as
reverse camera, rear view monitor, pre-collision safety system,
parking sensors, sonar parking and blind spot monitor. It earned a
five-star ANCAP crash rating.

Other safety features include Vehicle Stability Control, Active
Traction Control, Downhill Assist Control, a pre-collision detection
system that automatically brakes when a crash is imminent, alarm
system/remote anti theft and Engine Immobiliser.

Seating

The Prado features a 7-seat layout (optional on the 5-seater GX
model), which offers a wide variety of flexible configurations. The
stylish seats were designed with luxurious comfort in mind and even
the tallest people will be surprised by how much legroom there is.

The good:The up-high position of the Prado and the sunroof makes the
long drives easier as it allows for better field of vision even for
children. It has plenty headroom and good off-road capability. Auto
reviewers adjudged its fuel economy to be good.

The bad:Auto reviewers complained about its steering, describing it as
vague. There is a reasonable amount of body roll around corners not
forgetting that its diesel engine tends to make noise.
