Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State will on Thursday, March 19,
be commissioning the Lagos State University, LASU Radio- 95.7fm and
two other completed ongoing projects during the institution's
20thconvocation kicking-off on Thursday, March 12.
Briefing newsmen yesterday, to herald activities for the week-long
ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Obafunwa, said alongside the
Ultra-modern LASU Radio building and equipment donated to the
institution by business mogul, Chief Kessington Adebutu, other
projects to be commissioned by Governor Fashola are the university's
new Faculty of Science Building and new Twin Lecture Theatre Building
of the Faculty of Law constructed by his administration.
Obafunwa who said this year's convocation ceremony will be producing
six First Class graduates said: "There will be a Special Jumat Service
on March 13; Special Church Service on March 15; Coconut Breaking
Festival and Command Performance by the Department of Theatre Arts and
Music titledEni'Ayan(The Chosen) written and choreographed by Yeside
Dosunmu-Lawal on March 16; Convocation Lecture titledFrom Whom Much Is
Expected, Enough Should Be Given, delivered by Prof. Is-haq Oloyede,
fomer Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin."
He added that while 6, 885 First Degrees and 45 Diplomas in all
Faculties will be awarded on March 18, Higher Degrees will be awarded
to 1, 281 students on March 19.
According to the breakdown of First Degrees by Faculties, Arts (764),
Communications (252), Education (2, 659), Engineering (91), Law (202),
Management Sciences (1, 617), College of Medicine (79), School of
Transport (11), Sciences (728) and Social Sciences (472).
