Imo Guber Candidates Gang-Up Against Okorocha

When the rescheduled re-run Imo Governorship election come next
Saturday April 25th the situation may not be as the April 11 outing,
as Governorship Candidates of the various parties that participated in
the first balloting have decided to mend fences and support one among
them to face the incumbent Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

Information available to Trumpeta has it that the first experience has
shown them how far they can go in the exercise and therefore believe
that the only way Okorocha can be defeated is to pull forces together
against him.

Trumpeta reports that the Governorship Candidates, especially those
from Owerri Zone have realised their mistakes and have resolved to
back Hon Emeka Ihedioha if the Zone will ever have the chance to
occupy Imo Government House at any time.

The Candidates are to enter an agreement with the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, Candidate, Ihedioha, on what would be their share of the
booty at the end of the battle.

Trumpeta further reports that Ihedioha, who has been accused severally
of not trying to make promises he cannot keep and therefore not
keeping his doors wide open for all, is now aminable to any compromise
that would lead him capture power in Imo.

"You know that Ihedioha is a gentleman and sincere in his dealings
with many politicians who wanted to extract promises from him. He has
remained truthful and this caused him a lot of problems as many
complained that he was pushing them away from his project, simply
because he does not want to give them promises he cannot fulfill." A
source told Trumpeta.

Trumpeta learnt that the likes of Ken Ojiri (ACCORD) and Barr Ngozi
Olehi (Labour) are ready to sheath their swords and work on the same
page with the PDP Candidate. Dr Osmond Ukanacho of the UPP is neither
here nor there.

But Capt Emma Ihenacho has refused to bury his ambition or support any
other Candidate even though his party, APGA, could not win any LGA,
not even Owerri North LGA where he comes from.

The Emekuku-born Marine Chief is said to be warming up for the rerun
as he believes he was outsmarted in April 11 and therefore optimistic
that the rerun election will be a different kettle of fish.

Many pundits believe that the forthcoming rerun election is an
opportunity for the PDP Candidate to bounce back in the Governorship
race, which many see as won and lost.

In the rerun, over one hundred and forty-four thousand votes are out
to be harvested by the candidates. This is more than the seventy
thousand votes with which Owelle Okorocha of the APC is topping the
list.

The arrangement is that if Ihedioha of the PDP clears these votes, he
would have climbed the table high and above Okorocha.

But the question many are asking is: Will Okorocha and the APC watch
PDP rake in all the votes available in the rerun election?

Speaking at Government House Owerri, Governor Okorocha told
Journalists that he was sure of victory whenever the rerun election is
held.
