Tension Over Inconclusive Elections In Imo

Tension is gradually brewing in Imo State over the declaration of the
governorship election in the state as inconclusive.

The Imo State returning officer Prof. Ibedapo Obe had announced on
Sunday that the elections in Imo were inconclusive. He said that the
reasons for declaring the election inconclusive was as a result of
irregularities.

The supporters of PDP in Imo yesterday morning held a protest in the
city of Owerri saying that the election was marred by irregularities.

The Imo PDP state chairman of PDP, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie who addressed
newsmen yesterday however said that the party members are meeting
after which would come out with response to it.

But Governor Rochas Okorocha has expressed confidence of victory in
the planned re-run election as announced by the INEC state returning
officer Prof. Ebidapo Obe.

He said: "I am not bordered about supplementary, this is not the
first time Imo state is experiencing supplementary election"
