Imo State, China Discuss Industrialisation Partnership

The Imo State government has opened discussions with the Chinese
government, focusing on partnership in areas of industrialisation.

Discussions were held on Friday between Governor Rochas Okorocha and
the Consul-General of China to Nigeria, Mr Liu Khan, at the Government
House in Owerri, Imo State's capital.

Governor Okorocha said the visit was to initiate a robust relationship
with the Peoples Republic of China that would bring massive
industrialisation to Imo State and employment for the youths.

He said the partnership, if consummated, would be a fulfilment to his
dream of establishing factories and industries in the state.

The Governor also appealed to the government of China to revisit the
cases of Nigerians imprisoned in China, including Imo indigenes, with
the aim of reviewing their cases to ensure that innocent ones were not
punished for offences they never committed.

While describing the visit as a laudable achievement for the state and
a step towards the right direction, some top Imo State government
functionaries and business mogul said it would also build investors
confidence in the state.

The Consul-General also visited the Lawmakers at the Imo House of Assembly.

With this renewed relationship between Imo State and China, it is
expected that the Governor's vision of total industrialisation in the
next four years would be achieved.
