A Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Kingdom Human Rights Foundation
International has dragged the Management and Staff of the Federal
Medical Centre, FMC, Owerri, Imo State to an Owerri Federal High Court
over what it described as "Insensitive, Illegal, Inhuman and Senseless
Industrial action".
In a suit number, HOW/OW/CS/108/2015, the NGO spearheaded by a radical
Lawyer, Barr Kingdom Okere, among other reliefs is seeking a
declaration that the Chief Medical Director and Management Board of
FMC, Owerri have failed in their statutory responsibilities and have
proven to be "corrupt, inefficient in the management of public health
Institution and should be arrested and prosecuted for crime against
humanity".
The NGO sought for an order restricting all the defendants from
embarking on any Industrial action for any reason whatsoever that is
capable of endangering people's lives now and in the future.
When the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, June 9, at the Federal
High Court, Owerri, the Presiding Judge, Hon Justice Ogunoyibo granted
the prayer of the plaintiffs to commence the Suit and directed that
the Defendants be put on notice on the issues the ex-parte.
The Judge also granted that the Defendants be served through
substituted service by publication in Horn Newspaper or any other
Newspaper circulating in Imo State.
