47 Igbo Youth Organisations Storm Owerri For Jonathan

No fewer than 47 Igbo youth organizations are expected at a town hall
meeting, scheduled to hold in Owerre, the Imo State capital, to
mobilize support for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Other ethnic nationality youth organisations like Ijaw Youth
Council, and their Ishekiri, Urhobo and Odua counterparts are also
expected at the town hall meeting, being anchored by the Youth Wing of
Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

A statement released by the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) in Enugu on
Tuesday, disclosed that the town hall meeting would re-affirm the
endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by the parent body of
Ohanaeze Ndigbo under the leadership of Chief Gary Ewo Igariwe.

According to the statement, which was signed by the National Secretary
of OYC, Nnabuike Okwu and Publicity Secretary, Obinna Adibe, the
selected delegates for the town hall meeting were drawn from all Igbo
organizations affiliated to Ohanaeze Youth Council.

The statement indicated that "the meeting would serve as an
opportunity to sensitize Igbo youths on the need to collect their
permanent voters' cards (PVCs), to enable them vote massively for
Jonathan on March".

"We will also use the opportunity to make a passionate appeal to all
Igbo youths at home and in the Diapora, for them to maintain peace
before, during and after the election", OYC stated.

The statement further disclosed that the Special Adviser to the
President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme,
Kingsley Kuku would deliver the keynote address, while Chairman of the
South-East Governors Forum, Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State would
be the Chief Guest of Honour.

Other dignitaries expected at the event include the Deputy Senate
President, Ike. Ekweremadu, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Chief Emmanuel
Iwuanyanwu, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya and the President of Ijaw Youth
