Armed thugs on Wednesday invaded the state campaign office of the All
Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu
Buhari(retd.), with several persons sustaining injuries.
Although, details of the incident were still sketchy as of the time of
filing this report, our correspondent gathered that it was not
unconnected with an earlier crisis that rocked the state chapter of
the party after some members were accused of embezzling funds meant
for Buhari's rally in Enugu.
The APC Youth Leader in the state, Mr. Iyke Oloto, who was reportedly
beaten up and taken away by the thugs, later circulated an SMS,
accusing the party's governorship candidate, Mr. Okey Ezea, of
sponsoring the attack.
The text message, which he sent to the national chairman of the party,
was also forwarded to journalists.
The SMS read, "My National Chairman sir, greetings of the season.
"Please my name is Prince Ike Oloto, state youth leader and a state
working committee member, Enugu State.
"I want to inform you of the injustice and discrimination done to us
by our state chairman and guber candidate, Mr. Okey Ezea.
"Sir, our consistent demand to know the financial status of our party
APC and insisting that our State SWC and SEC are carried along in the
state, some of us including my humble self, is either suspended,
excluded or sidelined in party affairs.
"My name was removed and replaced in BCO.
"More so, Barr Ezea guber candidate has been bought and settled by PDP
with N600m.
"Right now, Barr Okey Ezea, is sabotaging APC as saboteur and PDP mole.
"All GMB funds and logistics to Enugu State has been dubiously
channelled to his private account and not utilised.
"Mark my word Sir and quote me.
"Your true servant, Prince Ike Oloto."
Efforts to get Ezea, and the chairman of the APC in Enugu State, Dr.
Ben Nwoye, to react to the development were unsuccessful at of the
time of filing this report.
